    1. Both are very polite, but japan is the master of being polite and helpful!
    2. Japan is definitely more expensive.
    3. Koreans are very stylish(like italian), japanese wear more comfortable clothes.
    4. Japan has perfect little food things which taste better than in Korea.
Even at the airport in Japan nobody could speak a good english. Much better in Korea.
    5. Korean are very interested in foreigners and very good company spending time with, more than in japan.

I just feel sorry for Japanese people and weeaboos being brainwashed by Japanese stupid media and government. Not knowing exactly what had happened back in the day, they are also missing out important issues of history and opportunities to have proper education. I hope they have more access to learn about world history that are not filtered by Japanese media and government.
In Korea, only uneducated people watch Japanese anime. Smart people don't watch anime because anime include a lot of lies. It is said that some anime makes bad rumors about Korea. Japan disses Korea through anime. Japan still uses the Rising Sun flag. The Rising Sun flag was the flag symbolizing the Japanese army during the period of Japanese imperialism. The Rising Sun Flag does mean Hakenkreuz for Asians. Japanese people pretend to be nice, but their faces are not real one. We should be aware of these kind of people. Their nature have racism or white superiority in their mind.

I am an American and have spent a considerable amount of time in both countries. I find Japanese people more modest, reserved, and polite. That said, Korean people can be more direct, sociable, and can be more fun. When I was in Korea, I would very often meet random people and become fast friends with them. Even in Japan, I ended up being friends with a few Korean-Japanese people, because these people were just more open to allowing me into their space.

It's because unlike America the British accent isn't everywhere it's not like Britain is producing movies that everyone watches and hears the movie stars speaking the accent constantly, it's just a matter of exposure I mean most people only think British people speak in Cockney or Received pronunciation

@@d.n5287 I learned mostly from British shows and films, and couldn't understad some British when I turned up on the island. It took me a few months to learn understanding, and now I can, although at times I'm still confused, (perhaps the lockdown has not helped).
The worst obstacle though, is old Chinese people at university. The only thing I can understand is: 'You must sink a boat.' This is what my Chinese professor says when she means 'You must think about'. And in writing she makes mistakes that would make her fail Polish A-levels in English.
For that and other reasons, like 8 contact hours instead of 20, I think in terms of teaching, British universities are dirt in comparision to what unis 400 places behind offer, and not worthy of anyone's time or money. It think it's disgraceful that British unis hire lecturers who can't be bothered to learn moderately good English, and I'm not the only one complaining, or about one university, because I've studied in Nottingham, and I've heard similar complaints from Kent.

To any Englishman here, no offense but personally yes, I agree with you. It's hard to understand when I talk to any English people especially with heavy slang like Scottish, Aussie, NY, or Texas. for country who have British influence back then like India or Singapore it was fine because they're aren't English native, it is acceptable. Kinda weird I still need English subtitle while watching UK or US based TV series or Movie which obviously in English 😂 .
I just find is hard to understand what these thicc accent English saying, but doesn't mean I hate your way of speaking, or language. For me, culture different is there for human to explore.

Tyrone Kim I have never been to California and I’ve actually wondered the same thing myself. I would only imagine that California MIGHT be cheaper only because it’s still part of the continental states, so it’s cheaper to get things transported there. We don’t have as many taxes though. I’m thinking Texas might be a better bet than Alaska unless you have a good job lined up. I’ve seen where a lot of people move here and end up having a hard time finding a job if they don’t have something already.

While I appreciate the effort gone into this video I do think it was biased. As Nobita mentioned there were so many topics that could have been touched on but the ones that were chosen were cherrypicked to put Japan in the best light. To sum up the video, Korean women have more plastic surgery, Japan has less crime, Korea has higher unemployment rate etc and then referencing newspaper articles that put Japan in a better light like the Japan Times article 'Japan's economy is far from hopeless' and then juxtaposing it with 'South Korea's jobless rate hits highest level since the global financial crisis', without mentioning the fact that Japan is the most indebted nation on earth or that South Korea has been voted the most innovative economy 7 times in a row. Even if some of the points you mention may be true, (however, some people who fact checked your numbers re: your rape figures cannot find where you got those numbers from) I think that if I were to make a video comparing Japan and Korea, I would have tried to make it a more balanced video and not just cherrypicked the points where my country was doing better to make it seem like one country was superior to another. Surely that's not the point of a video titled '10 differences between Japan and South Korea'. This video should have been titled 'why Japan is a better country than South Korea'.

3:22 The answer of No5. has big problem. First, In Japan, sexual crime is an offense subject to complaint. It means, if sexual victim did not report to the police, it doesn't be a crime, meanwhile, In Korea, sexual crime is an offense indictable without complaint. It means, Even though victim did not report to the police, it can be a crime. Second, In Japan, only penetrative sex is recognized as sexual crimes, on the other hands, In Korea, all kind of sexual harassments is recognized as sexual crime. (and In Sweden all kind of sexual harassments including verbal abuse is recognized as sex crime.) Third, There are huge differences of rejection rate between Japan and Korea. According to both the police department report of both country in 2014, Japanese police had rated 6 times more than Korea's in the rate of rejection of sexual report. It means, 5 of 6 sexual victims can not expect protection from governmental authority in Japan specially in child offenses. If you are set same rejection rate, the victims numbers per 1,000 people will be shown the result as below. 6.6 in Japan and 1.7 in Korea. As the result, In Japan, sexual cases are very hard to be confirmed from police. This differences makes us misunderstanding that there are huge gap in sexual crimes between Japan and Korea. Remind, Stats doesn't show truth.

No more(Korea since 2013,Japan since 2018?). Also, Korea is British common law system now which does not require evidence for guilty convictions(not just sex crimes) ,allows wide and political interpretation and prosecution are no more allowed to investigate cases. The real reason for this is because Korea is highly export dependent and thus had to open its legal market to large law firms which need British common law system to operate. Originally Korean law system started as a hybrid of British common and Japanese derived laws but massive reforms toward transformation to British common law were taken since the mid' 2000s to open the market-the feminists connected to ultraconservative churches were at the forefront. The current Korean law practices are in many cases against Korea's own criminal proceedings law and judges say it is hard for them to issue verdicts. This adds with Korea's mass surveillance system which is a digital implementation of East German Stasi's system that had moving cameras even in corners of rural areas connected to the Stasi centre; As a whole, Korea has become something like a British Commonwealth country(state church is Victorian, legal system is British common and even the military justice system was changed to that of US/UK/CAN/AU/NZ,new license plates look like British ones). Outside their appearance, nowadays Koreans cannot be distinguished from people who live in Southern states.

      Let's add...
In Japan, in the case of sexual assault, if you report it, the victim himself is summoned to the accident site investigation and has to re-enact what happened during the on-site re-verification, even posing. So it's almost never reported. Not only that, but it's surprising that there is a social atmosphere in which people are bullied just to report sexual harassment.
This is not because Japan is ignorant.
By taking advantage of the fact that such a verification method lowers the prosecution and prosecution rate, they are cunningly using the global image marketing strategy of a safe and crime-free Japan.
This is because the global crime rate statistics base focuses on the prosecution rate and the prosecution rate after all.
For reference, in the case of economic offenders in Japan and the United States, after reporting the case, the arbitration agency handles it first, and then proceeds with very careful steps (the victim must reveal the perpetrator's criminal evidence and circumstances in detail) and deliberation. As it is decided whether or not to take it as an enemy fraud case, it is usually resolved without any fuss (in many cases, it is abandoned).
On the other hand, in Korea, there are many cases of fraudulent accusations even in small disputes, and there are almost no prosecutions.
Our Republic of Korea is not called the only democratic country in Asia for nothing. Japan's low crime rate is a terrible mask made that way.
So, according to world statistics, Japan has a very low crime rate and Korea is a lot higher than Japan.
It was the same with the corona statistics.

There's a big flaw in the statistics about plastic surgery in Korea, because it is based on the sole number of surgeries performed, which includes that of foreigners. There were about 140,000 foreigners who came to Korea just to do plastic surgery in 2018 alone (roughly 30% of all surgeries). Aggressive foreign marketing (there's K-surgery tours in China, Japan, SE Asia) and having the best plastic surgeons in the world who are best at creating the ideal East Asian face is just some of the big factors for Korea's plastic surgery fame. It's frustrating to see people assume a Korean girl did surgery just because she's pretty, ALL the time. Like people forget there's just pretty people everywhere? That being said, Korea is still definitely one of the most "image" conscious countries in the world.

the bigger flaw in the stats is that the majority of procedures are double eyelid surgery. that is less skin than male circumcision which is not considered cosmetic surgery even though it is. and its probably just as common as Japanese women having their teeth bent inward but that too is probably not considered cosmetic surgery even though it is purely cosmetic.

    Seoul vs Tokyo
    1) Transportation: I use my T-money in Seoul and my Suica in Tokyo. It is a lot easier to navigate the subway/metro system in Seoul than in Tokyo. In Seoul it is the same company running the system.
    2) Finding places: Chicago pretty much works on a grid system, so it is easy to find the location of a place. Without some type of gps, I find it difficult to find some places in Tokyo. I have had no problems in Seoul.
    3) Eating: Seoul pretty much has the group/share food mentality. As that is the case, if I am traveling alone, there are many things I can not eat. There isn't Korean bbq for one. In Tokyo, it is not uncommon to eat alone.
4)Fashion: The Japanese have more "swag". In Seoul, when there is a fashion trend, probably everyone from 15-35 follows it- the same clothes, the same hair. In Tokyo, except for the salary men, there is a lot more variation.
5)People: Overall the Japanese are definitely more shy. However, the elderly seems to not have a problem approaching me in either of the two countries.

The high rate of sexual crimes in S. Korea is due to differences in the way statistics are collected. In S. Korea, relatively minor crimes other than rape, such as sexual harassment, are grouped into the same category as rape and classified as serious crimes. In Japan, only serious crimes such as rape are classified as serious crimes. Even taking this into account, Japan may have a lower crime rate, but the difference is not that much.

I am not sure what makes you think Japanese couples don’t berate, but Japanese often do it in their home, they don’t do it in front of people. Can you please point out where you got the rape stat (Korea: 39.2 and Japan: 0.9)? I went through provided links and I was not able to find those numbers. And, I don't believe those numbers are correct, especially from South Korean side.
Here is what I got from
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rape_statistics
In 2010, rape case for South Korea was 13.6 (out of 100K) and Japan with 1.0. I don't believe South Korea's number suddenly increased by 3 times in last decade, and 13.6 is fairly average compared to other countries like USA (27.3), Germany (9.2), Australia (28.6), Norway (19.2), Netherland (9.2) ect. At this point, I actually doubt the legitimacy of Japan's 1.0. Either Japanese are extremely low abiding citizen to the point where rape happens 27 times less than USA or the rape stat is vastly under reported. Considering social and culture aspect, I am leaning toward rape being under-reported.

    • @man2762
      @man2762 4 года назад +11

the korean and japanese culture aspect is very similar. If you lean toward rape being under-reported in Japan, then it should be the same in SK.

    • @lennethvalkyrie6919
      @lennethvalkyrie6919 4 года назад +9

@@man2762 Yes, Korean and Japanese shares a lot of cultural similarities. That's why I did some research on Nobita's numbers, because it's very hard to believe that rape happens 40 times more in Korea compared to Japan. Turned out that average rape case at Korea in 2016 was 13.6, which is pretty similar to other countries. That's why my first question was where Nobita got 39.6, which I wasn't able to find in any link he provided. Korea's 2020 number also is 13.5, so I think Nobita definitely got the number wrong.
My next question is whether 0.9 at Japan is accurate or not. Most Islamic countries, such as Egypt, Nepal, Yemen, Arab Emirate, and Turkey, that women right is relatively low, shares similar rape stats range from 0.1 to 2. Those countries likely won't label some rape as crime, which would be rape in USA or other countries. In contrast, rape numbers for countries with high women's right are between 7 - 20. While Japanese women's right are certainly higher than Islamic countries, they are still culturally expected to be submissive at least from older generation, and Japanese also might under report rape cases. I mean, there could be a chance that 0.9 is accurate. But, as you mentioned, Korean and Japanese shares similar culture, and I find hard to believe that rape in Japan is 40 times lower than Korea for some reason.

How can you blame him ? He's Japanese after all, of course he's gonna praise Japan. Japanese people are proud of their country unlike many of us in Western countries... 😅
But here's my opinion from a Western point of view.
South Korea is more opened to Western culture and it shows through people's clothing, behavior and ability to speak English. Korean culture (K-Pop and makeup) is more mainstream whereas Japanese culture is more "niche" and specific (mostly mangas and anime) I'd say. It can also explains why they tend to do more surgery in order to look more European. I've collected quite a lot informations about Japanese and Korean fashion/beauty trends and I noticed that girls in Korea are, like some people said, overall more into sexy and modern/western fashion trends than Japanese are. Japanese are either very classic, girly or vintage. Or extreme (Harajuku). Koreans are more into girly/chic or sportswear/minimalist type of vibes. Also, they want to look young but like actual young women whereas in Japan it doesn't bother grown women to look like 14 yo girls (I'm barely exaggerating). In fact they're even accentuating it; contact lenses that makes irises look bigger, short hair with bangs, teeth ("yaeba") amongst other things. Overall, the whole "kawaii" trend is very childish if you think about it. Every culture has somehow an admiration for youth but in Japan they are taking school boys/girls to another level. Take any anime, 90% of the main characters are no older than 17. I don't see that in Korean dramas, not as much at least.
As for lifestyle, I've heard a lot of praise and good things coming from both sides. Both countries seems to be very pleasant to live in (safe, clean, respectful people, great food...) in theory. However, there's a big difference between spending a few days or a few months and living in a country. If I had to chose, from what I've heard... I wouldn't chose Japan. Here's why : 1) the fact it's pretty hard to find a job as a foreigner, even if you're qualified and even if you have connections. In fact, it's quite hard to fit in as a stranger as soon as it comes to work. Needless to say it's not even worth trying if you don't speak Japanese 2) people, even though they're lovely, have a very specific way of acting in society ("tatemae") which can be seen as fake/hypocritical. As a very spontaneous/clumsy person everyday I'd be afraid to offend people, no joke 3) women's position in Japanese society. Even my boyfriend, who lived in Japan for three years and loves the country so much that it sounds like propaganda sometimes, has to admit that women's place is still quite reductive and Japanese men are not the most gallants, that's why a lot of Japanese women prefer dating foreigners (according to him). Even though Japanese women are known for being very modest he told me it was easy for him to smash lol... Probably because he was playing the French cliche's card. Anyways. Also, the very problematic subject of the Lolicon.
SK also has aspects I'm not in fond of (such as those unrealistic beauty standards that are very problematic) but their way of life seems more adapted for Westerners than Japan. Japan is quite different from the rest of the world... I'm far from saying it's bad place, I'd really like to go there one day to visit but I just don't know if I could fit in the society as a very French (adopted) girl with Vietnamese roots 😂 Like, I heard Japanese people are genuinely curious around foreigners and in a very nice way but by that I mean Caucasians and POC. I'm neither, I'm just a boring Asian girl who doesn't speak a single word of Japanese nor any other Asian language 😂😂😂 They'd try to talk to me but that would be my white af bf who would reply lol, already happened, I felt useless as some dead leaves on the pavement 🍃😂

@SUCKMEOFF ROPER to begin with, you only repeated what I already said but in a negative/twisted way in your fist paragraph.
Then if you'd have read properly you'd know I'm not white and even less a "white invader", I actually feel good in my country and have no plan to immigrate, thanks.
Also, nice for all of the Japanese women who are married to foreigners... 😂
In an era where the majority stands by the "open world" concept which is undeniably a progress (except for xenophobic people), sorry but you sound old and bitter.

@@meteoryoyo I just feel sorry for Japanese people and weeaboos being brainwashed by Japanese stupid media and government.

I don't know about the others but the video seems pretty biased. I thought this video was gonna talk about the differences between Korea and Japan when it comes to studying or going on a trip. For example, public transportations, food, or what kind of colors do both countries have. But it looks like you're just talking about how Japan is better than Korea and rapping it up with a little bit of the good part of Korea so you could say, "but I mentioned something good about them!". I don't know. It just seems weird to me.
