He's more real than Jay Z could ever be! when you are something, you never have to say what you are! realness speaks for its self! love him and he is still fine!
The Source needs to go back and fix that. Nas is clearly the best lyricist, rapper or what ever else you want to call it. He hasn't been around all this time for nothing. Start giving him credit where it's do!
Nas, a Fan since 1996! Back in those days Nas was kicking it so hard with the album It was Written, but he remained underground up until 2002 when God's Son came out! From that point on he is a legendary commercial succes, all over the world!
@@EzekielS-u9d but he sold a lot in the first week and was on the billboard. Also he was beefing with pac at the time which pac was a superstar at the time
Even better than saying who's best how about we just respect greatness, nas is a great lyricist point blank in the same category as talib, black thought, Andre 3k, rakim, krs, mos def, etc. Just great with a pen and paper, respect, jay is great in his own right and crossing into the mainstream swaying away from too much social commentary or being boxed in as a political rap artist like, big l, big pun, biggie, etc. They're in their own lane with rhyme schemes and metaphorical punchline raps, respect, and artists like tupac who's my personal favorite didn't have the technical ny lyricism like the rest he was upfront and honest with what he spit like minimalism with his words but it hit your heart like a knife because you felt his pain or whatever he was saying like (IMO) pimp c, chuck d, scarface, etc. So just respect the art form like they do in the rock culture, pop, jazz, blues, whatever just listen to good music and all these guys and more deliver exactly that!

Nas is lyrically poetic when he raps. "Eloquence" on the mic could come off as mechanical and textbook lyricism. His formula has worked for the better part of 20 years and put him in the Top few categorie.
A lot of people can't speak as well or are possibly nervous. Elon Musk is a billionaire and is one of the greatest minds in the business world and he's a horrible speaker[and i'm being nice] not comparing the two, but it's possible.
I know I'm late to this party but that's why he's a hip hop artist and not a public speaker. That's like saying, why don't NFL receivers' draw well because they must be good with their hands.
Buster Brown And you are one person. To disagree with the list is one thing, but to act as if it is not credible because one of your personal favorite rappers isn't in it is silly. And by the way, I don't think Talib Kweli belongs anywhere near the top 5.
Man O'Neal Of course you don't because you are a hip-hop illiterate who knows as much about hip hop and hip-hop lyricism as Fred Flinstone knows about Quantum Mechanics
Buster Brown My friend, I am far from a hip-hop illiterate. And you show your stupidity by suggesting that somebody who disagrees with you on a topic is automatically ignorant on said topic...as if you are the world expert on everything.
He looks so young still
It's crazy.. Nas looks younger now than he did 15 years ago!
Yes...
he'd "rather be alive than paid"
MED got mad love for Nas & Pac. He be quoting their lyrics in his speeches
UGodd Yea I appreciate that a lot he's a cool dude

Yes, Jay Z is clearly on Nas' d#&k.

Great short interview!
Twenty years in this game, looking seventeen
Easily the best lyricist of all time along with Rakim and a select amount of others.

I really enjoy Nas Jay Z and Rakinm. Great list. Great interview. Nas is on the same level as Jay Z.
Tyrone Brown Jayz is not on the same level NAS at all
Tyrone Brown jay don’t compare to nas, nas is goat
Nas wipes Jay Z
totally agree!
Jay z is not even close to Nas level. Nas best to ever do it. 🐐
Rakim still making music tho.... :/

@theblackflash321 I agreed with you until you said jay z is on the same level as Nas they will never be, nas always surpass jay z
Jay z is crap. He has a few good songs but he is by no means lyrical. People need to stop giving him so much prop.
you are by all means stupid to say Jay-Z is not lyrical
No doubt. Truth be told I never liked Jay-Z not even back in the day.
Jay z didnt survive on only music like the rest of them . how come no one ever realized that ....
Yeah, I know, right? Black don't crack. :chuckles:

The Source didn't name Eminem in top 50, thats a joke but I guess Benzino is still sour.
eminem is 6
take Jay Z out and put in Kane or Raekwon the Chef. much purer list of lyricists.
Jay ElecHanukkah gay z specifically

Jay, BIG and Kane aren't even lyricists.Their music is pretty narrow minded, being for the most part jewels, drugs/party, and party respectively.
Ricky909 Bro. Ironically, this comment is narrow minded.
Jay Z in the top 5 is crazy smh.
lol..Exactly..

No way Rakim should be above Nas, 2Pac, and Biggie, sorry.
rakim are these other rappers favorite. the student cannot surpass the master.
Neesha Hannibal Students surpass their masters all the time, what are you talking about?
I wouldn't put him above Nas, but when it comes to lyricism, Rakim easily takes the cake over Tupac and Biggie.
+Vic 2.0 all facts. rakim is overrated and a different generation let him rock lol
No Nas just made more albums but lyrically rakim was a beast. But even Nas dedicated more than one song to Rakim so yeah he's still above Nas.
Dyson had more Jewish DNA than black.
I wonder why Nas can't speak as eloquently as he raps
He's get's shy during interview! He's said it countless times.
A lot of MCs are like that....Kane and Rakim as well..
A lot of people are better written communicators vs oral communicators, including myself. Plus Nas always said he hated interviews lol
I've always wondered the same thing, to be honest. He was my favorite rapper too
When he writes, he takes a long time to choose his words.
It's pretty obvious.
