A Russells Reserve single barrel 10 yr or a WT Rare Breed are right in the 50 to 65 range and hard to beat too. Nice picks Judge.
Agreed! WT Rare Breed Barrel Proof for under 50 bucks is one of my daily sippers. Outstanding whiskey and value.
Agreed!
I was super impressed with the JD Triple Mash as well! It drinks more like a 90 proofer (despite being 100). The nose is soft honey, camomile flowers, and vanilla. It’s a super crushable bottle, and for 35$ I have no regrets!
Judge, really nice list. However, I think Still Austin Bourbon, anything from Redwood Empire, Blue Note Crossroads, Bardstown Bourbon Origin BIB (Black Label), and Marker's Mark Private Select are sub $75 bottles that have flavor and just plain taste good. Just my opinion.
Sipping some Knob Creek single barrel and watching The Judge. How sweet it is.
In watched this episode last night and immediately went to my cellar and poured a Knob Creek 12! The last time I poured from this bottle was with some friends around a campfire this past fall. Some of the nicest and most memorable whiskey drinking I can remember. The friends, the setting, the delicious KC12. Thank you, Judge for the gentle suggestion and also for your excellent content. I'm going to look for that JD Triple Mash. Love your channel!
LOL, my whole collection is $65 and down. I'm waiting for Costco to get Knob 12 in so I can try it. My picks are Trails End 10 yr, Old Forester 1910, JD SB BP, Baker's 7, Michter's US 1. * bottle is Wilderness Trail BiB.(I could list another 10 easily)
The Green River is a solid pick-up, but when it gets a little more age on it, it’s going to be a hitter.
That knob 12 is $47.98 here, my fricken favorite.
Kc 12 is amazing
That’s a great price! It’s $75 here.
Wow $48!!!
To this list I would add Coopers Craft 100 proof, which is a real sleeper and Chattanooga 111 which is a “see it, buy it.” Not sure what they’re doing at the Chattanooga distillery but they are producing some magical whiskey and they aren’t afraid to experiment. Thank me later. Lol
Coopers yes indeed
Nice picks and I must agree that the Green River is a great option that's in every store in my area.
I haven’t slept on any of these. I have or have hade every one. Admittedly, I have the bourbon from Buzzards Roost, the rest are exact. Love the dark pumpernickel rye, would love to try the cask strength but it isn’t in my budget. The Knob Creek 12 is my ultimate favorite from this list though. Fantastic juice.
I had a bottle of that Green River in my hand the other day and put it back on shelf as I wasn’t to sure about it. I guess I’ll have to give it a try now. Cheers!
OGD 114, OF1920, WT Rare Breed, WR Double Oaked, New Riff SiB, Maker’s Mark CS also very good.
Thank you for the video... need to check some of those. A few months ago I was able to get a KC12, and I was surprised how good it was... great value and available.
Nice job! Local store has a Wyoming Whiskey pick coming next month that’s comparable to Weller Antique 107! Knob Creek 12yr is great and at a nice price!
Knob creek 12. Fantastic
A couple of my favorites. Still Austin Barrel Strength Rye (59% ABV) around $63 plus tax near me in Central Texas, and Driftless Glen single barrel Rye, (48% ABV), around $45 plus tax.
This is the first video of yours I see, and I can see why you have your followers.
I would add The Bardstown origin series, sheared BiB, high rye bourbon, and Rye are all killer under $70. And can’t forget about the Barrell Foundation!! Thats a mighty fine pour
Excellent add ons
I don’t consider $75 to be the “bargain” threshold, so I’m glad you included some $35 bottles here.
I've seen Buzzard's Roost on the shelf many times and have passed it up and I don't know why. You may have pushed me over the line with this! Good list. And I agree with another listeners recommendation for RR single barrel and Rare Breed.
Grabbed a bottle of their Barrel Proof at their shop in Louisville after a tasting...they are producing some great blends.
Good stuff Bradley
Spot on with the Knob 12 call Judge! Always a coin toss between that and the SB Knob 9 depending on proof mood. Salute 🥃
Is there a bourbon out there no matter what the cost, whether affordable or no, I’m affordable, that the bourbon is absolutely mind-boggling. Good! It’s so good that you can’t get it off your mind.
Good grief, there are so many good bottles out there under $75. Even perennial favorites like Rare Breed and ECBP fit in that category. Or Bakers 107, Four Roses Small Batch Select, Heaven Hill & Henry McKenna BiB's, JD SiB, Knob Creek 9 year BP (I'll take those over Knob Creak 12 all day long), Larceny BP, and I'm only halfway through the alphabet of big brands. And that's not to mention all the bargain brands that are still very good.
Yes sir!! Great points
First time seeing your channel, 100% not the last time!!! I very much enjoyed this content...
Appreciate that. Cheers
Totally agree with the Buzzard's Roost. Took a tour of facility , sampled with the master distiller and love their product. Thanks
Good stuff!
this is great topic. ty for covering it.
Love the JD Triple Mash! Would throw in JD Single Barrel Rye (94 Proof) and Woodford Double Oak in there as well!
Absolutely
I grabbed a buzzard roost cigar batch while in Kentucky. One word.... Amazing!!!!!
I bought a bottle of WW based on your review and very good ratings at distiller. It's not bad but doesn't have the level of dark overripe fruit I am used to getting from PX and Oloroso finishes. IMO Rabbit hole dareringer and Doc Swinson's Alter ego have much more fruit forward profiles. I also like Stranahan's sherry cask although it is not Bourbon, but the profile is very similar.
I’m intrigued by this list. Going to see if I can find any. Good video.
Good luck
I was gifted a bottle of Buzzards Roost barrel strength straight bourbon for Christmas and I was pleasantly surprised how delicious it was!
Nice list. Add Rare Breed to this one!
Added!
I am a OGD114 fan along with Roulette rye 4yr 100 proof mgp , Isaac Bowman, Scott's cask strength $54 out of Troy ohio, Circle City single barrel $79 but worth every penny. Cheers 🍻
Agree w/ the KC12!
I have multiple back up bottles of Knob Creek 12. Great bottle.
Great bottles Judge. I have 2 bottles of Green River Single Barrel that are 119 proof. A step above for $55. Knob Creek 12 Year is close to a perfect bourbon IMO. Buzzard’s Roost doing some great things. I love the Barrel Strength Bourbon. 🥃
Great points Dave. Cheers
Thanks judge- loved the show! I have some brands to look for in GA!
Any time!
So many to choose from loving the choice and fun
Big thanks Judge
Buzzards Roost is awesome have had a single barrel rye and bourbon and the cigar blend is amazing and they do it totally different. They line a barrel with tobacco leaves and age it. It's amazing cheers great list but don't forget Watershed they have some great whiskey. If you can get a single barrel you can't lose, also the bottled in bond is awesome.
Thnx on the Watershed heads up.
Nancy Fraley, the blender at Joseph Magnus, does consultation mixing/blending/finishing at Wyoming. So, expect the finished bourbons and aged products there to be special.
Well said- she’s great!
KC12 year is one of my favorite bottles I own and I have to do a lot to get mine as we do not have then around me in AL. I have heard the 15 and 18 are not as good overall than the 12. Hoping to get my hands on the Middle West Pumpernickel rye
Thnx Brett
Looking forward to that pumpernickel the Judge!
Thanks Robert
We don't get KC12, at least that I can find. However, we have Driftless Glen store picks sitting on the shelf at every store I go to for 50ish dollars. I haven't tasted any of them that aren't hitters.
I hear ya William. Cheers sir
KC 12 Year is normally a lottery pick in my neck of the woods of Wisconsin. One of my favorites though. I keep a backup for my backup of it.
Smart man Travis.. cheers
Buzzards Roost! Hard to find in Chicago but love the juice.
Noble Oak Oregon Spirit and Ben Holladay are some good whiskeys under 100 bucks
I’ve slept on the JD & KC12, Buzzards Roost just started to become available in my area
Nice Tony
I love knobs (pun intended 🤣😂) 10 and 11 year store picks and the 12 yr shelfer. I am looking forward to trying that pumpernickel rye (hopefully yours). Cheers Judge 😎🥃
Absolutely that MWS is amazing..
Had a store pick of middle west rye, so damn good!
the triple mash is really good
Yesterday I bought an Elijah craig toasted barrel for 50 euros. Perfect price ^^
Middle West Pumpernickel has the most distinct flavor of anything that I have!
Love the KC 12, but got to stop sleeping on Green River and try me some Buzzards Roost. Thanks Judge, Cheers
Absolutely Jimmy
Coopers’ Craft is all of it. 👊🏽🥃😊
I love THAT Middle West Spirits is gettin the LOVE !!!! Can't wait Marcus for that pick !!!
Thnx sir
Starlight is in Indiana, right across the river from Louisville, Kentucky!
I live in Ohio, and I frequent Middle West often!
I took your advice judge. I just purchased a bottle of old buzzard bourbon. I got it at $74.99, just under your $75 limit. Looking forward to open it I will let you know how I like it.
Enjoy
Middle West is making amazing whiskey!
I’m seeing the Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Barrel Proof Rye popping up more frequently and at less than $69 so definitely something to add
Indeed
Just killed a triple mash the other night will be getting a replacement
Agreed! Just killed a bottle of KC12 tonight.
Bigshay…. Nice
triple mash and bonded are usually $50 here in ny...we get screwed here
First! Love your content Judge! Keep doin what you’re doin, brother!
Thanks! Will do!
I agree with the KC 12, love it! Wyoming has some good stuff....everything else is just meh..
I have seen so many shows recommend Green River and got myself a bottle and it has sat 75% full for the longest time because I just flat out don't like it.
I was so excited because so many of my favorite bourbon channels recommended it and for some reason it did not hit home at all
kentucky is good for fishing too
I also live in MD, near the capital. Where did you find Green River and Buzzards Roost? I've been looking for them!
I 2nd your Knob creek recommendation! Great video, thanks!
Green river in Maryland close to Delaware . Buzzards I got in ky but you can find it in Maryland closer to Delaware too
@@BourbonJudge thank you!
What does a “pumpernickel rye” taste like. Is there a thing to “pumpernickel” grain? I’m a strangely huge fan of pumpernickel pretzels and bread. Never heard of a pumpernickel rye.
Great video.
Its a unique pour. Think of a bread dough note, type of whiskey that is dipped in caramel. Its unique but amazing
Do you think the Starlight will be ready before June? That might be the one I'd purchase and send to my dad's house for him to bring me.
It should be Liane… there turn around time is pretty quick
🥃@@BourbonJudge
Old Forester 1920
Jack daniels barrel proof single barrel oh yea
John j bowman single barrel is good for 48
Add Four Roses single barrel, Bardstown Origins BIB, Larceny Small Batch, Russell's Reserve 10, Wild Turkey Rare Breed. Bulleit Rye 🥃🥃❤️
The JD Triple Mash is delicious 😋🥃
Great list
@@BourbonJudge I really enjoy your content and the bourbon/ whiskey community. Keep putting out the great content 😁👍👍🥃🥃❤️
Do you think your MWS pick will be available beyond patreon??
Maybe…. Not sure to be honest with that one.
No Russells or Rare Breed??? I'm shocked
Changed it up from the staples.
left off 1792 bottled in bond or 1792 full proof you can not go wrong with 1792
Hard Truth is also awesome 👍
Yes indeed it is
Is the Midwest sourced from MGP?
No sir
Add Chattanooga to your list.
Not gonna lie. The whole time, I was watching this video I was thinking, staying under 75 dollars must be killing you😂😂😂😂. O well, you got to have bottles for uninvited family members. Questions were: Can I find that buzzard roost???
Lmao Eric omg you know me soooo well. Dude that is too funny. Buzzards online Seelbach’s or Shared Pour etc… cheers
Knob Creek 12 for under $50. Empire wine and Broadway wine and liquor All day long.
Judge, you are over paying for all of these.
Isn’t Starlight in Indiana?
It sure is
Yeah right over the line tho
That is buzzards roost bourbon.
Imagine what this whiskey world has become when a $75 bottle is considered "budget friendly". 😢
So true.
I do not drink Jack Daniels.
I stay away from the bourbon bananas 🍌
Lol
Where’s that rare breed for $54?!
De/md area
I would love to spend $75 on a bottle, but its out of my price range. $40-$50 would be better.
Fair..
