Great video, I got the 3018 and I use Fusion 360, I struggle with the tool pathing, and speeds... ill try the box this weekend. Thanks for the content, I look forward to more good content.
Thanks! Your videos makes me more and more eager to buy a 3018. I would suggest that you check out components in Fusion 360, instead of splitting stuff into two files. Then you can reuse or project sketches/bodies in an effective way.
@@djVania08 I don't know. I'm not an expert on these yet. Check out the content on this this channel, James Dean Designs and also the Genmitsu owners group on Facebook.
Sorry if I ask and maybe you said it, but I don't understand English and the subtitles didn't help me. What wood did you use and how long did it take to do it? Thank you.
Great video, and exactly what I was looking for. One question though. What is the reason that you used a post processor? I am new to CNC, but not new to Fusion 360. Could you not have used the file from Fusion 360?
Thanks for the excellent video 🙂 I have a question though, the first time I open fusion 360 in my life and I follow your process but when using the "offset" tool the second time, fusion tells me that I can't "Error: One or more of the selected curves has already been offset. Consider offsetting the original profile again instead." Any idea where I'm wrong? Thank you again!
Hey! Thanks! Unfortunately I never saved the files as my plan was to refine it, but that never happened. If I do find them I'll make sure to upload it.
I cant really remember the tool but I am pretty sure it was a 1.5mm flat end mill. The flute length was 12 mm but I had it go more than. I didnt insert the mill all the way up in the shank either to make it stick out more
I think that is the first time I have seen someone use one of these 3018 cnc's to make somthing, looks really good
Thanks! I think I might try engraving some brass as well.
@@TheSwedishMaker you may like this build series then..

love it, good job and you make it look easy. Thanks
I love your style and vids, calm and detailed info.. great end result.
You should get a little scroll saw, less sanding.
Keep it up bro
Thank you so much for the kinds words! Yeah, a scroll saw is on my wish list :)
Hello from France !! Bravo for all your works :-) So cool !
Thank you! :)

Cool! I will check that out. Thanks!
Gustav, did you buy already?
@@djVania08 Yes! It's noisy :)
@@GustavBrogren any other aspects to consider?

You need to offset the first line instead of the one that is already offset and it will work.
@@TheSwedishMaker Thank you for taking the time to reply, very appreciated :-)
Hey dude. Great job. Beautiful piece.
I am starting out on 3018. Do you have the files to make the box and an instructable?
Hey! Thanks! Unfortunately I never saved the files as my plan was to refine it, but that never happened. If I do find them I'll make sure to upload it.
@@TheSwedishMaker aww man. Even as they where, it was quite beautiful, and would be great for a newbie to make
You should dive into Fusion and follow the steps and you will fix it
HI. What is the maximum thickness for milling wood on the 3018 CNC? Thank you. :)
From the company they say 45mm but I haven't managed to go that Deep. That would also require a very long bit.
@@TheSwedishMaker And how deep did you manage to go? Thank you :)
Hi, very nice video! What milling tool are you using in order to mill that deep?
Thanks! I just used a normal 38 mm milling tool. I adjusted the motor height a bit to make it work as well.
The Swedish Maker , could you share the tool specs? How deep did you cut? Usually the blades are only 10-12 mm on a 2-3 mm tool.
I cant really remember the tool but I am pretty sure it was a 1.5mm flat end mill. The flute length was 12 mm but I had it go more than. I didnt insert the mill all the way up in the shank either to make it stick out more
Would you be able to cut 25-30mm deep with this machine?
Yes you can :)
The Swedish Maker what kind of drill bit do you need and how many passes does it need?
I do about 0,6mm/pass and there are many different kinds of bits to do the job. I mostly use end mill bits.
