Agreed, mercury Nashville wasted her talent... they were all about pop- country Shania Twain, and making their female vocalist cookie cutter performs like here😮
It is surprising. A good voice, good energy, and absolutely stunning. Then you realize the machine that was Shania Twain and Faith Hill were bulldozing through the pop and country charts at the time, it would have been hard for anybody to get traction back then.
I love this song. It makes me think about my daughter ... Now, she is a consecrated religious, a nun. And her eyes are light brown. The color of coffee with cream. She's my only child and I miss her. She loves the rain and used to go out and dance in it.
I lost my best friend a couple weeks ago. This describes what Im feeling. I don't want the pain to go away. I don't want to forget. I want to feel it so I remember.
They’re always with you 🩷 I too lost my best Friend. We met at 9 I lost her at 24. But her humor comes out through me every single Day there was no One like her and I’ll always pass it on. Mt daughter will be named Kelsey 💕
When this song came on the radio, I used to rock out to it. If it happened to be near the parking lot of the college, and people saw me singing, when it was over, I used to put in my Breaking Benjamin CD and roll down the windows so know one would know. Back in those days, a big man listening to that would have lost you all the ladies 😂
I was in love with Jamie in the early 2000s and guess what it's 2020 now and I still am lol. We were in deployment one day and I just got back from flying a mission and I went to the gym/ workout trailer to work out this song came on the radio. She's amazing
I love this song. It disappeared from the radio a few years ago so every time I hear it I smile. It was one of my favorite songs growing up and now it still is(:
Back in the days of myspace, Jamie O'Neal friend requested me! She is great to her fans and that makes me respect her that much more. Will always love her and her music. :)
Mike Heal amazing how change creates a loss of memory - until we learn new - it is time to recall enjoyment, do you know Facebook now? Sweetheart, you are human.
Haven't heard this song or seen this video in a long long time. What I remember most about Jamie O'Neal was the first thing I noticed about her. She looked and sounded like a Blonde Lari White. Even more so than Anita Cochran did. All 3 immensely talented, beautiful and vastly underrated artists. Was so in love with Lari. Broke my heart how Nashville treated her.
Lari had a really soulfull voice and I loved seeing her on an episode of Larry's Country Diner. I think she passed away in the last couple of years. I like what I heard of Anita Cochran!
@@theglavine Yes, sadly Lari White passed away in January of 2018. Rare form of abdominal cancer that went long undiagnosed. I was a member of Lari's fan Club in the 90's. I was also a member of Holly Dunn's fan club from 1989 to around late 1993 when I stopped hearing from them after Holly was shockingly dropped by Warner Brothers. This was after she had been Blacklisted by Country Radio. Holly passed away in August of 2016 also from Cancer. Lari was never officially Blacklisted, but she had two songs that more or less were "Wild At Heart" where the ludicrous video controversy caused her to be dropped by RCA out of nowhere. Something that never should have happened. That really stalled her momentum, because prior to this she was well on the way to becoming one of the top female artists of the 90's. Just like Holly and the "Maybe I Mean Yes" fiasco a few years earlier. Radicals suggesting that it could lead to Date Rape. Just nuts. She never should have had that song and video pulled. And neither should Lari after complains that the "Wild At Heart" video was demeaning to Mental Health patients. It's absurd how both were targeted. "Maybe I Mean Yes' would have been a huge hit for Holly, as it debuted higher on the charts in 1991 then any of her previous singles had. Both MIMY and "Wild At Heart" were CMT Pick Hit Videos. What ticks me off to this day is their respective labels let these artists brilliant new albums that they worked very hard on for 2 years just go to waste. "Getting It Dunn" in 1992 should have and could have been Holly biggest selling album to date. "Don't Fence Me In" for Lari is 1996 coming of Lari's Gold Album "Wishes" in 1994 was chuck full of great song that never saw the light of day as singles. When Lari signed with Lyric Street I expected her to be treated allot better, but she really wasn't. Her single "John Wayne Walking Away" which Faith Hill and Martina McBride among others both wanted badly was completely snubbed by Country Radio. I was told at the time it was due to the title alone. I can't by that, because I can't imagine them not having played it for Faith and she definitely couldn't have performed it any better. If your not familiar with that song, since it didn't have a video be sure to look it up. I personally felt that Lari's 1998 Album "Stepping Stone" was every bit as good as Shania Twain's "Come On Over". With better promotion, choice of singles and more videos it could have easily gone Multi-Platinum.
@@jeffreyk5734 Wow, thanks for all that back story. I was not aware of the controversy surrounding Lari or Holly Dunn. I bought the 45 of Daddy's Hands way back when it was out. I did not follow Lari but realized after seeing her on RFD tv that she was an excellent versatile vocalist & i found her hard to find GR HITS or Best Of. In that early 90s period, I was a big fan of Carlene Carter, Suzy Boggus, Pam Tillis, & Mary Chapin Carpenter. Carlene was more of a rockabilly new wave singer who recorded with rockers like Paul Carrack, Dave Edmunds & Nick Lowe but she did some fine traditional country with Tom Petty's band & NRBQ backing her in late 80s/early 90s. She even had a Top 40 hit with Robert Orral in early 80s and loved her wedding video with Nick Lowe 'Cruel to Be Kind'. She opened for the Sex Pistols and Garth Brooks too LOL! The underrated artists are often much more interesting than so many stars who were overhyped. I had just mentioned Jule Roberts; an incredible debut song 'Break Down Here' that was all over CMT in late 00s when they still played videos. Great, smoky vocals and a striking beauty. I recall her 2nd album got rave reviews but no airplay. She ended up on the independent circuit and was befallen with MS. The 90s was the last time I really enjoyed country very much. There is a local tv station that plays the Heartland video station which has a 90s Flashback and there's always something I'd forgotten about like a Bobby Cryner video recently; she had a great voice. I miss those days. Hardly anything worthwhile anymore!
@@theglavine Yeah, I was a Suzy Bogguss fan too. Suzy still is very recognizable. I saw Pam Tillis in concert twice. Saw Martinia about 98. She and Lari were good friends. Loved Carlene Carter. Loved Deana Carter. Deborah Allen. I loved Kelly Willis and she should have been about as big as any female Country Artist in the 90's. I actually got a chance to sing with Chely Wright on Stage in I think 1993 or 1994. Lari to me was the most beautiful woman in Country Music in that period. Even over Shania Twain. I was a big Shania fan, still am. Don't get me wrong. But Lari White owned my heart. I never understood why Radio wasn't more interested in her, because she had it all. Every time I saw her I just melted. She was such a great songwriter, musician and vocalist. Classically trained pianist despite the missing finger. Lari was a vocal coach for allot of artists. RNC Country who is a great reaction guy named Don just reacted Lari's duet from 1996 with Esra Tuaolo a couple days ago called "Another Broken Heart" which is an awesome song and Lari looks super stunning in the video. I'm mentioning this because it has very few views and I was hoping for allot more feedback. Please take a look. Holly Dunn had 4 Number 1 songs, but really, she should have had many more if not for the Blacklisting she was a phenomenal artist. Don generally reacts to traditional sounding country on his channel. The non-pop stuff and there are plenty of great artist in that area you probably don't know about. Amber Digby for one is super talented. He has reacted to a couple of Jamie's songs in the past as well. His channel should have allot more patrons. Lari and Holly's songs and videos far more listens and comments.
Saw her preform this live the other day!!! Very talented and AMAZING artist!!! was such and honor just to hear her!!! this was one of the first song that lead me to love country!!!
Grew up listening to Emmy Lou Harris, Donna Fargo, blue grass and much more. It is so nice that such a lovely and talented artist has blessed our lives as Jamie has. Thanks.

I plan to sing this when my husband and I renew our vows on ourc10 year anniversary. We are at 8 years now

You couldn't come up with a better song to sing?
When I think of the Summer of 2001, I think of Jamie O'Neal
I met her her a couple of times right around the time this song came out. A real sweetheart of a gal!
