Great video tons of good info. im about to do my first set of jaws and ive heard people say to do 100% peroxide soaks aswell as 50/50 not sure what to go with as of now.
Definitely do a 50/50. I use regular peroxide, but I’ve been told the more concentrated peroxide works better. I always worry about deteriorating the bone too much. I’d rather do it more cautious. They always turn out good.
Glad you like it! Watch the other video where I did 2 sets. I screwed up a few things. It will show you some things to not do. Let me know if you have and questions! Thanks for watching!
Maybe do the bleach before completely drying it. Also look for a shadow box without glass if your set is too big. I have a oceanic whitetip set that’s pretty big. I had a custom shadow box made. I think I will make my own if I get another huge set, but definitely not use glass.
Great let me know how it turns out. Check out my other video where I do two sets. I screw a few things up. Don’t do what I did in that video. Good luck!
@@wyohunter77 so, how much of the connective tissue in the corners of the mouth can I remove? I haven't removed too much of it because I'm worried that the jaws won't stay connected if I cut away too much
@@dallasfields7511 only try to get the muscle tissue in the corners. The corner dips in, so it’s hard to get it all. Don’t clean off the connective tissue that hooks both jaws together. If you get a little, it won’t be a big deal at all. The bleach soak really does clean a lot of that off.
@@dallasfields7511 you’re better off getting less of it, then more. The muscle tissue is the most important thing to try to clean off. It will turn a little yellow if you miss some of it. It really is pretty forgiving when you do the bleach soak.
That’s a good question. I would say yes. Maybe do a light soak in the peroxide and water mixture for around 4-6 hours and see if it flexes. If you use just water, it may get a little bacterial growth and get stinky.
Wow! That’s a great shark! Hopefully the tutorial helps. Check out the tutorial where I did two sets. I screwed up a couple things. It will show you some things to watch for. Good luck!!!
I actually have no sound on my phone so I cannot full understand do you know how to get like the cartilage that’s peeling off to be smooth is it just with a knife and water to wet the jaw many thanks 😊
Get as much tissue as possible off the jaws. Get the gums, behind the teeth, etc. Then soak the jaws for 2 days in 50/50 water and hydrogen peroxide. I use regular peroxide, but you can do concentrated if you want. I don’t though. Every now and then scrape more tissue. After 2 days, soak for 30 minutes in 25% bleach 75% water. Then take them out and set them for a couple days
That’s awesome! Was it a big shark? I’m glad the video was useful. Thanks for the Chiefs encouragement! We are hoping we get to see some competitive football this year. We will definitely be at a few games. Let me know if there is anywhere you posted pics of the jaws. I just subscribed to your channel. Was it the shark in the video? That’s a nice one! Congratulations!
@@wyohunter77 a friend was here this week from KS, never caught a shark so I took him to Sebastian Inlet and after several takes landed one. If the shark jaw has malformed during drying.
Can soaking it in water help to rehydrate the jaw so that you can reset and fix?
