I just resigned as a umc pastor following the vote. The only reason i stayed was to fight this, the fight was ended without debate, come to find out it was allready decided. I was being reappointed to a larger church in july and it would have greatly improved my finances and ability to get care for my wife. One thing that GOD put on my mind was not wishing GOD speed to.... If I stayed this is what i would be doing by being tied to thier discipline ( lack of it ). I have never asked to preach, GOD always has opened the doors. I go forward in that faith that HE will continue to. I hate to say it but I went from shock at fist, to grief for a few days, and then anger. I pray it is righteous anger. May GOD bless and keep you.

Would love to have you in the GMC. Our church just lost a pastor to a transfer. I’m not sure where we are in the process of finding a replacement, but I know the GMC has ample opportunities like this.

@grasroots601222 if you read the "red letters " and looking for a specific statement from Jesus, is true we do not have a record of that. But check out Paul. He had a "Come to Jesus" meeting on road to Damascus. Paul has written about this in the book of Roman's and in his letters to Corinth.

We left the UMC two years ago. The Holly Spirit was telling us in a loud voice to "Get Out"! Who am I to disobey the command of my Father!

I appreciate you providing source material to accompany your criticism of the new policies in the UMC now; I do actually agree with this criticism; it will spurn me out of a UMC church.
UMC will go the way of the Episcopal (TEC) and PCUSA and I think ELCA, but the irony is that the UMC is rising in the "global south" (Africa and Asia), yet the USA church outvote Africa in the general conference? That's one reason delegates passed regionalization, in the hopes to further insulate the church in the USA from rising body elsewhere.
Attempting to overturn 2000+ years of teaching for sudden enlightenment on this topic is just folly to me.

I have been a member of the Umc for 63 yrs. and attended for almost 70 yrs. I fought this change since 2019. Our church decided to wait to vote. I will vote to leave and then leave if there is not away out!

why dont those departing from the UMC ever consider the wesleyan church? nazarene church? congregational methodist church?
It's a good thought...I think some of the complexity would be the credentialing of the Pastor.... most denominations won't just accept someone as a Pastor even though they were a pastor of a different denomination... unfortunately
@@UnashamedofJesus i think most would make it a very short process tho. i know one methodist pastor who went to the cumberland presbyterian church with no problem, even tho theres some doctrinal differences (the cumberlands are not calvnist, but do hold to eternal security). i bet all the churches are thinking about things with the UMC being all in the news. never hurts to inquire. of course the Global Methodist would be udeal, cause its very closely aligned with current methodist doctrine. i hear a few UMC churches are even considering the Anglican Church in North America.
The Wesleyan Church and Church of the Nazarene are heading down the same path as the UMC. It's just a matter of time before the woke leadership turns their backs on Biblical truth.
I think Wesley would roll over in his grave if he knew what has become of his teachings/denomination. He never intended Methodists to be a freestanding denomination. Maybe phenomenal foresight. I miss my pre "UMC" Methodist church. The UMC ruined it all.

Presbyterian here, but did attend the Methodist church growing, kind of like what I said about parking spot #23 (John Knox's gravesite) self-combusting at St. Giles Cathedral, when the Church of Scotland, PC(USA), and the Presbyterian Church in Canada each apostatized, I wouldn't be surprised if each of the Wesley's graves did, too, over UMC and the British Methodists.
I was confirmed in the UMC... We have parted ways I'm 44 now... I just belong to Yeshua now, not man. Like Wesley I street preach... Like Yeshua I love sinners. Like man I'm not perfect... But the Bible has shared its wisdom...
One of the passages that stick out to me the most... Is Matthew 7:22 to 23..
21“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’

I have an interesting perspective on what the local Methodist church did by leaving the UMC! First of all they were afraid of losing financial gain, ie property and salaries! My understanding is they all should have stood their ground and stayed united and fought this thing by influencing the vote that was continually postponed. Will God judge them for leaving and going global. I personally went through this with the church I attended.
Thanks for sharing! Yes dissatisfalation from the UMC is alot more complicated than most people realize. I think there would be even less UMC churches now if the UMC wasn't blocking all of them...
There is nothing wrong going with the Global, in fact it's encouraged if you are still in the UMC, or go Independent ECT.. God bless!

You need to take your thinking one step further. WHO cares what John Wesley would approve look for a church that Jesus approves.
@@daviddrew3372 I agree. Based on Christ's own words to the seven churches (Revelation 2 and 3), it is most important to understand what Christ thinks of the Church and churches!
Missouri Synod Lutheran (It isn't just in Missouri). They are found in all states and countries. I feel their interpretations, and doctrine is as Purely biblical as it gets. It represents the very first denomination split off in the reformation. They believe that the Bible, every word of it... is breathed from God, and is inerrant. If you have kids....and you send your kids to one of their incredible grade schools, you will never have to worry about any of the satanic bilge currently being pumped into the young minds of children in the public school system entering your child's brain. Never!
These schools teach the old-fashioned curricula, and it is taught in Christ-centered environments. We have been EXTREMELY happy with them. And yes, our kids learned how to read properly in the first grade, their "Times table" in second grade, how to tell time on a minute hand/second hand clock, how to write in cursive, how to add fractions in third grade, how to do long division in 5th grade, algebra in 6th grade along with writing essays, full term papers by 7th grade, world history, American history from a PATRIOTIC viewpoint, not an American denigrating viewpoint, Civics, and yes, Bible class. Homework was assigned to develop the study habits necessary for success in high school and college. Every morning begins with the pledge of allegiance, with the "one nation under God" still spoken. Thirty minute Chapel on Wednesday mornings for all the grades K-8. Absolutely the greatest school, with the most dedicated school teachers in existence.

On the one hand, John Wesley preached temperance. Yet, he told the pastors that he mentored that, if the had to preach more than one outdoor service in a day (i.e., not using one's indoor voice), that a little beer or ale between services helped the vocal chords recover.
I got this from a student intern attending a UMC seminary.
At the same time, Wesley didn't care for the idea of women in the ordained ministry. Well, the UMC doesn't follow that concept, either.
But, as a very wise UMC pastor preached in the 1970s, the Bible cannot be taken literally. It's too full of contradictions.
The UMC pastor who co-officiated my wedding was a Biblical scholar. He said that the Bible can't be taken literally, because translations can never be 100% accurate. Trying to translate ancient languages into modern languages is difficult.
Think how tough American English is. In most of the country, wicked is a bad adjective. But it New England, it's a complement.
My current UMC pastor reminds us regularly of Jesus' two commandments, love God and love your neighbor as you love yourself.
Just because someone is a "Biblical Scholar" doesn't mean they actually know anything... most of them parrot what is told to them at a Liberal Seminary
