The devil can sound out his distorted despair in cutting tones through rusted megaphones over the good land but he cannot stop the _consequences_ of the realities he denies. He may say the falling rain will nourish nothing and the falling snow will accomplish nothing but he cannot stop the consequences of this heavenly precipitation. Does he mock because nothing presently springs Then he knows nothing of germination. Does he say there is no change after the storm up here where others see me? Then he knows nothing of roots. Establish and strengthen me! I send out my roots by the stream (Ps 1). That voice which denies reality will be made to contend with its consequences. I will learn to wait. The purposes of God will be accomplished. It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
