Honestly was hoping he'd show up in Ted Lasso's final season. Only 3 episodes out as of now so holding on to hope but love every character he's played. Proven versatile actor!
I honestly didn't expect for them to instead of making a movie based on a video game, they make a movie that's an origin on how that game was made. I honestly love that and if this movie is successful enough then I would LOVE an origin film on how Pong was made.

They made a Tetris movie because the actual story of Tetris was pretty ridiculous itself you couldn't make it up. Unfortunately, the story of Pong was rather conventional and won't really be interesting enough to warrant a whole movie.
I saw it. It’s one of the best examples of the problems with communism. The USSR sold that game for millions of dollars and the inventor never saw a single ruble of that money

Although, as you said, the tune of Korobeiniki (the Tetris music) is throughout the film in various forms, I am glad that they made the right choice to save a choir singing it traditionally for the climax. It was way more impactful at that moment.
When Tetris Effect is available for the PS5 in VR all these years later, you know it’s a game that people still enjoy. I’m just glad they found the angle where that popularity made a story worth telling.
I know the story behind this and it's really interesting with lots of twists and turns. Looking forward to the film. This film actually looks really interesting.
Loved the movie and when the car chase turned pixelated (with an overhead shot), i immediately thought of 'Spy Hunter', which really seems a great nod (homage?) to that video game. :D

Scripts have been written for films and the films have been made with an entirely different script, with the original writers still credited for it. It’s a complex business. I hope you’re right though.
I’m actually going to wait to watch this review. Ever since the gaming historian did a video on this game I’ve wanted it to be a movie, the trailer could have been better if they used more of the game music. When they started playing it I got chills, so iconic, a game that anyone from anywhere can play. Maybe the greatest video game ever made. I cherish my CIB Nes version.
Cannot believe they didn't give the L piece a bigger part. But when the straight long piece stabbed the square piece because he slept with his wife I was honestly surprised.
I feel like the movie is the only way a tetris movie could be made. The game itself is a puzzle game where you're stacking blocks and laying them across the screen until one of the rows disappear, and then only characters are the blocks with no faces or personality, so I respect the film for not giving us an animated or live action movie featuring anthropomorphic building blocks.
I just went and watched that movie based on Jeremy's recommendation. I was surprised to like it even more than I expected. Everything feels right: the tone, the characters, the highs and the lows, the paranoia, the humour, the hope spots. It's just a good solid movie, definitely recommend checking it out. 8.8 / 10 from me.
This movie sucks ass. It's such horrible propaganda! I'm no fan of Russian regimes. But this movie is FULL with bold inccuracies and just sheer idiocy. I mean, the movie is not even about the creator of Tetris! But about some businessman who acts like an anime character. Disgrace.
Man if you have apple TV+ right now you absolutely have to binge Ted Lasso while you have it. If you want all of the heartwarming feels like you got in Paddington 2 and Won’t You Be My Neighbor but with a solid character drama built in watch it! Also each season is 4 hours so quick binge.
It's pretty empty fairy tale show that ticks all required woke boxes. 2nd season was unwatchable and I don't even care enough for those cartoonish characters to start the 3rd.
Oh yeah... I remember that summer when I was totally addicted by Tetris... Well, actually I remember very little about it, Tetris 24/7 and nothing else.

This is my favorite films so far this year. If Apple was smart they would give this move at least a limited run in Theaters so that it can be eligible for the Oscars. It's that good.

Watching this movie was very refreshing, I never stopped smiling every time the Tetris theme melody was in a shot, I knew about it being a Russian folk song and when the creator mentions he is more into classical and folk music I felt so happy and Nerdy that I am sure I made my girlfriend roll her eyes lol I truly love the theme, it's my dogs play time theme song too lol

The pacing of this movie is brilliant, it doesn’t feel long even though it is. Reminded me a lot of the movie The Big Short which moved at a similar pace.
Thought it was funny reading the reaction of Rodgers when he found out there was a chase scene. "They tried their best to accept our changes when they had to do with authenticity. But when it started getting into [creative flourishes like] the car chase and all that, it was like, 'OK, now it's all them.' We couldn't change anything."
Man, I haven't played Tetris in a while. Let me dust off my 1st gen Game Boy that inexplicably still works. I like to think that I could go toe-to-toe with young, modern gamers on this particular game. ...Probably not, but I like to think I could.
Gaming Historian did a great documentary on Tetris and it's pretty amazing this ever made it out of the Soviet Union. Taron Edgerton is also an amazing actor, so I do want to see this.
I just saw the film with low expectations because I already know the story (countless documentaries), but I really LOVE this movie. One of the best I've seen in a very long time. I'd say that 70% of the story was true and 30% was dramatized. To be fair, you have to make a film like this exciting... but some of the KGB stuff was actually true. Not to mention the Mirror Soft stuff, because my first exposer to Tetris was on the C64 by Mirror Soft long a few years before everyone else seen it on Nintendo and Atari coin-ops. There was ALLOT of dirty crap going on. Seriously, watch the documentaries. AWESOME MOVIE... It was seriously kick ass.

While you have Apple TV make sure to watch some of their shows. The mini series Blackbird is fantastic. Severance is also great. Just recently watched Shrinking which I might argue is their best show they have done. It might not have many things but most of what it has is quality viewing.
The Tetris Movie is a tightly-knit yet gripping thriller about fighting for the rights of the game. Even enjoyed the car chase with the Russian cover of Holding Out For A Hero that makes the car chase intense and atmospheric!

I did indeed get one of those original Gameboys packed with Tetris for Christmas in 1990. As I was only 6, I didn't understand the premise of the game at the time and what the goal of it was, and I honestly wouldn't play it again until I was an adult and it was on my cell phone, killing time during breaks at my job.

This movie was just amazing, I never got bored for one reason or another, whether it is the wonder of watching the nostalgic history or the corporates infighting. As I was only 6, I didn't understand the premise of the game at the time and what the goal of it was, and I honestly wouldn't play it again until I was an adult and it was on my cell phone, killing time during breaks at my job.
This movie is one of my new favorites to watch. Cast and production crew did a very splendid job. I highly recommend to watch

This movie was just amazing, I never got bored for one reason or another, whether it is the wonder of watching the nostalgic history or the corporates infighting. Nintendo just coming in to start swinging its blank cheque book schlong about to dominate any arguments just to give the world what we sorely needed
Alex was the break out role. Now we need a Kojima movie, how he got shafted and lost all his rights to his own engine/ game

It may not have the hype of shows like the TLoU or House of Dragons, but I think Jeremy being the largest movie reviewer on RUclips can generate his own and still get plenty of views. He is the captain now.

I grew up in a refugee camp and to all of us; Tetris WAS the “video games”. I didn’t realize till I moved to US that video games are much more than arranging blocks in a screen.
Tetris is very accessible. My 65-year-old mother STILL plays the OG Gameboy Tetris cart on my old Gameboy Color.
