Dropped from the sky 80-100m or so.. killed the 03 . Sent back to dji for inspection . Out of warranty but they replaced it for free . Absolutely amazing service from dji .

Now the FlyLens85 offers a naked O3 unit just hanging free under frame acting as a landing pad.
Thanks for the video. I had an O3 unit not working, pulled it apart, and yup, same chip is cracked. This video saved me a bunch of time.

Well played. Still going to confuse people who don't know about solder balls on surface mount components 😁
Double sided tape antenna side down on o3 has gave me the best results, wiring side cover seems to be a lot weaker and easier to dent

Best would be to send it back to dji and get a free replacement, but I usually get told I'm out of warranty and I gotta negotiate for a fair price for the refurb they'll ship

Do you know how thick the case material is over the hot chip? I’m wondering if some shallow grooves could be milled in for better heat exchange. Possible less intrusive solution for better cooling than the de-casing.
Lots of reports online of people only getting 1.5-2km range with the 03. Settings don’t seem to help much. Would be eternally grateful if you did a video on a fix.
I assume this is without the FCC hack installed
@@MatthewTaylor3 ill have the same issue with the fcc but 1.5km would be a dream ill got mostly only 1km. An any o3 i own
@@singrun7618 I find your experience strange. I get 2km (comfortably) stock with my Caddx Vista, and 3km on that same Vista with the FCC hack with my V1 goggles.

@@krazed0451Even on stock antennas, you should get 2Km on a Vista. You have a newer system, so you would get more than I do. You would have to seriously damage or remove your antenna or be limited to 25mW to have your experience.
would softmounting have prevented/helped in this case?
I have one that acts the same. Betting it’s crushed too :(

its cracked because of the bracket and hard mounting. thick alien tape as a cushion and then zip tied down with a little play
Helps but definitely doesn’t prevent breaking. Just had my first real crash with a new build, desynced on me at about 50-60’ up and just fell… I purchased said air unit a month ago and yet not showing warranty 😭
Looking forward to future HD video systems as robust as my old analogue camera and VTX that has just survived a crash into the ocean.
will the rc port or the osd uart work from just the other board? if so ill buy it from you. i have one that has both osd and rc uart broken so it does not work for anything other than video feed... i can also send you that one so you may see if that is the case if you like

It happened to me with a O3 naked. I cracked that chip and I need to replace the full AU. Sadly

every time ive had osd issues with 03 its the cable inside that joins the two boards has come loose from a crash, thats my experience
It is transfered over that cable into the eagle. So that does make some sense. More than anything we want to fully trace the circuit path.
@@MadRC yeah totally get that, should of watched the whole vid before commenting 🤣 dunno how my cable came loose with the glue there but it did lift on one side. It's now an naked 03 and I expoxy the boards for ghetto waterproof 🤷 works perfect now. Now in my pavo20 👌

I’ve never broken an 03 unit or camera. Hdzero shit breaks just by looking at it sideways
Almost as bad as my WalkSnail v1 vtx that got crashed when I hit a rock. Board was like an accordion.

Just sand it down, give it a coat of paint and throw it on eBay 🙂
I have a 400 dollar welding hood thats stuck on shade 9. The controls are all digital. Sucks how welders just throw their hoods away without trying to fix them. That means theres no videos or documentation on how to fix it.
I had one that in a crash the camera cable ripped out. Replaced a Camera cable, but it would never seat properly, I would get OSD in my goggles, but the screen was always black, so I just sent it to DJI. Do you think it’s fixable? I’m wondering if the pin connector was broken but visually I was not able to see any damage other than it would not seat properly
I often break the tabs off the mipi connector, and use a 3D Pen and TPU to re-secure it. Try replacing the cable too if you've got black screen plus BF OSD
I crashed one and the AIR unit just stopped working - Lovely DJI support swapped it completely free of charge. 8 days from logging it to receiving a replacement.

Mine is just didn’t work with longer mipi wire. Tried 2 different companies no luck🫣 have to ask dji what’s the story
Ask DJI why they don't sell stock mipi cables while you're at it...all via 3rd parties...
Why not just test for continuity?

There are always reports of issues. Nothing has changed with Goggles 3 and O3 still works exactly the same as it did before. Still needs the arming command and still had the same output. In general you tend to see more issues being posted when people see something new because they think something might have changed
