I think a problem a lot of people have when starting is that they have a certain thing in mind, so when they don’t draw it exactly as they see it in their mind, they give up. If you take the time to dedicate yourself to any craft, you’ll eventually get to the level that you see of in you head.

One thing i learned from Pewds is that, as much as originality is important. As a beginner we shouldn't be afraid of copying things we like, also, pewds is not just copying his learning everytime he draws. So its like redrawing and studying at same time.
Art could be frustrating but in the end, dont think too hard and just enjoy the journey.

Pewdiepie's progress is inspiring to me to me because I want to get into art, I've tried multiple times at starting but either my constant need to be perfect every time gets in the way and I 'quit' for a few months or something like a sketchbook gets destroyed and I feel unmotivated for a long while. I don't know if anyone is going to see this but i want to ask anyway, I've been having a problem of deciding whether to start practicing again either with paper and pencil traditionally, or go the digital route. I don't know which to practice with for a while before branching off and doing the other. If anyone does decide to help then thanks in advance.

Do I just look how certain things were drawn and try to copy just the method and not everything line by line. Or do I just look a to character and try drawing it myself cempletely, and use the reference just as a reminder what the character looks like?

Basically, what you're doing is ACTIVE observing. Watching a movie for fun, and then watching it in a film class and studying it, are very different things. For art referencing, yes, you can find a picture you like and copy the entire thing. The goal, however, is to be actively observing while doing that. Why is the jaw shaped like that? Why did the OG artist draw the hair that way? How does this muscle work?
You can also pick individual things like: today I'm going to find references to arm muscles and copy and observe how different artists do it.
Another great way to reference is to copy the drawing entirely, then draw it again without the reference and compare the two. You'll find you mistakes very quickly that way! ^^
      Hope this helps!

There's a difference between copying art and having a understanding of the fundamentals and creating your own art just want to put that out there. Pewdipie is good for a beginner learning how to copy but its obvious he is still a beginner as he isn't creating his own pieces from minimal reference or imagination. Anyone who relies on purely reference will appear better than the average beginner but I'd agree he is around the same level as most beginners, a lot of beginners have the problem of not using reference. When you rely on imagination without fundamental technique, your art will appear worse. That's just how it works.
