In the US Army, many soldiers prefer to wear the hot weather variant of the OCPs. They’re made of a lighter material (55% nylon, 45% cotton I believe), remove the chest pockets, and replace any Velcro and zippers with buttons.
One day I will make a video about all 4 field uniforms of the US army, after adoption of the hot weather uniform I counted 4 types of field uniforms so far.
@@RedIvanMilitaryEngYeah there’s been a lot. Not to mention the experimental versions given to troops during testing which are still floating around out there.
@@RedIvanMilitaryEng Very informative video though! I especially enjoyed the Belarusian uniform. From a distance they look similar to Russian uniforms but have some notable differences.
Nice video! I was one of the first cycles issued OCP during basic training for the air force. Plently of people in my career field choose to wear hot weather army variants because we work outside and inside of hot aircraft all day. USAF maintenance is fairly relaxed in regards to what we wear because lots of people get away with wearing commercial clothing and uniforms from other branches so long as they resemble Skorpion. The worst part about our uniforms is our trousers. The butt reinforcement wears out very fast and the front pockets are difficult to access while seated in a vehicle. Lots of us have to glue the butt flaps back on because the seams rip after a few months of use. You're right about the blouse pockets being useless while wearing body armor. The only thing they get used for is holding maps or phones that we don't want to accidently crush while carrying cargo.
Love your very academic evaluation of this subject…that goes for all of your videos, keep doing what you do, I really appreciate it. …maybe sooner or later you can give us some details on the Russian “Moss” or “Mox” pattern, I really love that stuff, it looks like the German “Water Pattern “ and “Blurred Edge “ pattern had a love child !
Belarussian suprised me that it kind of copied USA style with all these buttons and the camo is more like it for spring and summer where there is total jungle everywhere while russian is more for the steppes, fields etc
I found a similar problem with M81 and the DCU uniforms, Large regular fits me well in M81, the DCU however I had to go up a size, the waist was just a little tight.
MM-14 also varies greatly, at least according to someone I know, who is a collector, depending on the factory or the individual uniform piece - the pattern printed on the waterproof jacket seems to be darker and more olive-dominant than the more tan-dominant shades of the normal uniform. MM-14 also aparently looks somewhat greener in person than on photos. Though this is just what I've heard and seen on photos.
@@RedIvanMilitaryEng Yeah, I know, what you mean. The Czech pattern (often called Vz.95, I'm using it as an example, since I know the most about it.) Has a similar thing happening, because it has been made since the early 90s (the first prototypes being designed in 1991) until present day, with many different fabrics and the colours get shifted slightly from year to year (early 2000s ones are more green dominant, newer ones are more olive dominant). Also, especially older soldiers, wear their old uniform pieces, which get washed out and then they get issued newer pieces (ECWCS jeckets, fir example), which aren't washed out, making a lot of pieces look different. Sorry, if that's off topic. It just came to mind.
I like the previous version of the VKPO Summer Uniform better, I don’t know why they changed it. It has pockets on knees and elbows for pads, on the trousers buttons instead of a zipper for the fly as well as back pockets with buttons, as well as front pockets with buttons as well. Above the front left pocket is velcro for blood type, or for parade medals. On the left sleeve is a patch for a flag. In my opinion, this design is much better than the new one, and I’m lucky to have the old version.
The Russian military uniform is one of my favorite uniforms. The bad thing is that it cannot be used in Mexico since the pattern is very similar to the Mexican pattern.
@@olejnik5165 Russian special forces utilized Multicam way before this days, so the friendly fire already took place on both sides. Whatever uniform you have if you have people with similar ethnicity, who can speak the same language and using similar weapons ( to certain extent) you will always have more cases of friendly fire or cases when someone got lost in the enemy trench. Same saw in Yugoslavia, and in Donbass in 2014.
Hello Ivan. Hope you can help me. Where can I buy vietnam marine fatigues og 107 3rd edition x-large. Woth zipper pants. Thank you. I watched you films and are very good. Michael
Уважаемые друзья. У меня к вам вопрос о размерах военной формы. В том же масштабе российская форма более свободна или американская. Ждем вашего ответа.
OCP though highly regarded its not the end all be all pattern. Its perfect for arid weather conditions with light vegetation I will admit. but for jungle warfare or artic conditions, its a disaster. Personally, I think all 4 camo patterns have their place. Belarussian camo seems perfect for eatern forests as well as the russian, but the Ukranian camo oddly enough is great if you expect to fight where theres alot of mud or brown in the environment. my 2 cents.

You are a plethora of information Ivan, great presentation amd thank you
Thank You.
Zipper flys are only good for jeans and pants that are not for rugged use. Zippers get jammed and break.
I really enjoyed the thorough comparison of each uniform with their own features, really want to see more content like this
Outstanding and absolutely professional video! Subscribed! 🤙

@@olejnik5165that’s true. The tapes (red and white for Russia, Blue, Yellow & Green for Ukraine) help mitigate this.
