Its literally the best camo pattern for that part of the world, when dirtied, it blends in well with the muddy terrain. Multicam is a scourge on the earth!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO! I keep on hearing things in passing about the new VKPO Multicam, but there were like no videos on it. UNTIL NOW!
I know Russia has been using Multicam for more than a decade at this point, I just can't help but think it's problematic when it's fielded across the whole army. I can see why using an enemy pattern could be beneficial for special forces and other small teams doing clandestine operations, like we've seen up until recently, but this just seems like a massive invitation for friendly fire etc. I guess they're only relying on the armbands in Ukraine, but even if that works, it makes it super easy to impersonate the enemy - you just need to keep both colours of tape in your bag. In the current war, I guess it's less of a problem since Multicam is more or less just the unofficial secondary pattern of both Ukraine and Russia, but if a conflict with NATO would ever happen, I feel like there's a pretty strong argument for the Russians wearing enemy uniforms if they mass issue Multicam. Again, this wouldn't be a problem for special forces, but this is being fielded to regular frontline units. It's also funny, because back in WW2 etc. they wouldn't even field uniforms or helmets that looked vaguely similar to the enemy, but today everyone are wearing the same FAST helmets, and Multicam uniforms and plate carriers in more or less the same design. It seems like a huge mess, but it just looks like Russia doesn't care about IFF at all (also with people within the same squad wearing different uniforms and camo patterns). A-TACS FG (Moss) could've been an obvious other choice for camo, but it seems like that's becoming increasingly associated with Rosgvardiya, even though other Russian units have worn and still wear the pattern. One good thing I've noticed about EMR is that it blends fairly well against exposed dark soil, such as in a trench or crater, while Multicam is far too bright and is easily seen from above by a drone etc. If Multicam ends up being a temporary solution, it'll be interesting to see whether Russia will develop a new pattern or use one of their older ones (such as SURPAT which has quite similar colours to Multicam) instead of just ripping off another Western pattern. It's 15 years since Russia last developed a pattern that actually saw some use (SURPAT and Spekter) I've heard your explanations for why they ended up with Multicam, I just can't understand how it was even seen as viable in the first place, rather than just using solid OD green etc. if they couldn't get anything made in their own pattern. If they need to plaster themselves in bright tape to tell each other a part from the enemy, the slight camouflage advantage of Multicam is lost anyway. But I guess everyone will now get to look like the cool FSB guys and that soldiers were privately buying commercial Multicam gear anyway.
100% agreed. Atacs moss would be more suitable for vast majority of Russian and Eastern European terrain. Or they could bring some brighter elements to EMR and increase its pixels. I just hope Multicam is a temporary solution. But judging by the massive production, this temporary solution is going to last at least another 5-10 years. 😅
@@0bserver416 The problem with Multicam is that most potential enemies of Russia use it. The effectiveness of Multicam shouldn't be downplayed, especially in the dry seasons (basically from late summer to early spring) on the steppe and tundra, whereas EMR is optimised for dark pine forests etc. like most of the older woodland patterns. If they wanted a light green pattern (like A-TACS FG or the EMR you propose) they already have the spring side of the 6sh122 oversuit which blends great with grass and leaves in the lush late spring and early summer. But that's a more specialised pattern compared to something based on brown like Multicam (or SURPAT). But light green patterns were also used in Syria with surprising effectiveness, so I don't think something like that would be less versatile than dark green EMR, it's just less versatile compared to Multicam.
@@Zimmy_yegor tldr; also in layman’s terms IFF/identifying who’s who in a peer or near peer conflict is going to be extremely hard even more so with how everyone is practically using the same camp pattern. Hence why Russia and Ukraine utilize colored arm/leg/headbands
