This is possibility the best "acoustic" performance I have heard her do of this song. Whoever is doing the sound on Howard's show is nothing less than genius.
I agree also. this is a great performance, and people seem to shine on Howard's show. Lady Gaga, The Highwomen, Maren Morris,Foo Fighter's, Train. The list goes on and on. They just seem to dial in their sound when singing there.
Just finished her memoir, she had a cyst on her vocal cords that was discovered right after this performance that was extremely close to rupture! We would never have known, but her vocal coach could hear it!
Saw her several times in the early 2000's at smaller venues in Seattle. She is that good live. Never ever misses a note. Absolutely effortless. Can belt anything out, but never oversings it. 100% talent.
Same, saw her right after recording Benaroya Hall. Was my first time at one of her shows and she did signings and pictures afterward. I almost left early but decided to stay and meet the band. In four more shows I've been to I have not seen them do that again. Really wish I had taken a picture with them! :(
George Charouhas. I almost turned off the Grammys this year because I didn't recognize anyone's name. Sad but true LOL. As each person came on the stage I was more and more blown away. I can't believe I'm saying this but happy to say it it is the best Grammys that I've ever seen and I'm 55 years old rock on Grammys.
This song sends chills down my spine. Just when you think that there's no good music being made today along comes someone like Brandi Carlile to prove otherwise.
A few times a generation (if we are lucky) God gives us true talent. I have loved Brandi since 2008. She is the real deal. Her voice makes my soul shift. And luckily for us, she is just getting started.
She's one of the only people out there who creates content that is flesh worthy of the bones of that kind of range and dynamics. She bring THE WHOLE DAMN THING. Too often a person with a voice has little say, but look what I can do. She's awesome.
First time I heard this tune I got massive goosebumps. I'm fairly sure the 10,000 th time I'll still get them. What a magnificent song and so perfectly done. Wow.
I’m so happy people are discovering her. I’ve listened to her since 2006/7 (heard a lot of songs on Grey’s Anatomy)with the self titled “Brandi Carlile” album. Then “The Story” then “Give Up the Ghost” and so on and so in. Saw her last May in DC and it was wonderful!
Wow. I listen to Stern daily and missed this one but caught a repeat today. Blown away. So satisfying that there still are actual songwriters/poets out there creating music with feeling. As the father of 2 baby boys I couldn’t help but think of them while listening and what they might face growing up. Not ashamed to say it choked me up a bit. Beautiful song. Thank you Stern Show for posting 🙏
Drive By Truckers took me to Jason Isbell who took me to Amanda Shires then took me to Highwomen and then to Brandi. Glad I got here eventually. What a talent.
Her voice reminds me so much of that chick from Lone Justice... doubt anyone is old enough to know who Im talking about but man, both awesome. Im gonna have to dig more into her after watching her performance last night I was gobsmacked!!

Donnie Smith agree

Brandi's voice is also just that amazing and magical raw.
Yes. Its perfection for the underdogs. We win
Belinda's voice is so authentic ! Great performance !

You have to just smile at Howard's reaction! It was beautiful!
I am glad to see he is in a place to view women as people rather than objects!!! Way to evolve, Howard!!!
I'm crushed. This totally makes my heart HURT. Thank you brandi, for fighting for (US), the underdogs.
Howard Stern’s studio really might be the best in the world. Music performances sound absolutely amazing there.
