She lost her husband, her dog, her home, and she’s likely still in shock from all the trauma!
So so sad!!!
Omg , tragic
"She is now homeless, planning her husband's funeral." 😭 I want to give her a hug! 😢
Every single one of these stories is so tragic! May God wrap his arms of comfort around her.
@@stacyewhite1734 God isn't doing anything for them and if anything caused this. If he had wanted to work it he would had but didn't thus all the pain and suffering
Do you people even listen to yourselves? If your "God" existed, what kind of sadist would not prevent this from happening? Christians are absolutely disgusting.
@Joe-n4e8e this is not God's fault.
@@amandawolfe1054So, then god is not omnipotent?
you can just feel the warmth in the face of that poor man. my goodness. my heart is breaking for her
Prayers for this sweet lady💙🙏
Last week everything was fine for her. Now she is facing all this. It's so sad.
They probably never thought it would be that bad. This is the age of extremes
No, it wasn't forecasted to be like this in East Tennessee at all.
Your life can literally change in an instant. So sad. I'm so sorry all this happened. ✝✝
So sorry for your loss.
Come on @nbc Where is the GoFundMe For Her?
they've already moved on to the next story that sells laundry detergent and ozempic
Oh poor baby I pray for her.
Blessings for Vicki and her husbands soul.
Thank you for including details on the river, that it went from a normal height of 2 feet to flood height of 30 feet. That's the kind of details we need to hear to help us understand the scope of this catastrophe.
My heart breaks for this woman. And for all the others who've lost loved ones, homes, livelihoods, pets, livestock, farmland.
Can't swim in flood waters. Too much debris.
God bless her😢
You never think it’s going to happen to “YOU”!!! 😢
So heartbreaking! No words to express, sincere sympathies to this woman! 💔
She is my grandmas sister and I love her so much I can’t wait to visit her after the hurricane is gone. Vicky I love you and me and Grandma Alice and my mom are sending you prayers. ❤️
The most amazing woman showing American's strength!
Fak I hate this world…nobody should get through this!!! This whole thing is absurd!!!
My condolences to the victims 💔 It's so sad to watch the news. I'm from Peru and we have the phenomenon called 'El Niño ' which does pretty much the same damage to cities and towns here. It's heartbreaking when this happens because the material loss is the least thing to care about, so I can imagine what these families and the animals are going through. Praying for everyone there 🙏❤
WELL YOU WAS WARNED TO LEAVE SOOO..
This is so sad - sending ❤ from Canada 🇨🇦 to all affected.
Storms are getting worse, when they tell me to leave, I'm going to leave I'm not taking a chance that makes it hard for people to rescue me.
There are 7+ stages of grief: shock, anger, denial, bargaining, depression, testing, acceptance
Anyone know what part of Tennessee this is? I’m still trying to hear from my son whose destination was Madisonville Tn. Does anyone know if the storm damaged there?🙏🙏🙏
Erwin, TN.
I’m in Knoxville Tennessee I know Newport was hit pretty hard but I haven’t heard anything about Madisonville tn. Praying you get good news ❤
I don’t believe madisonville was affected.
My heart goes out to Vicki.
Sad for homes, people and animals lost in Helene. All helpless victims!!!!!😢😢
So sad. Prayers for her and others. I hope she can get therapy or something. 🙏🏻
I am so sorry for this tragedy... so sorry. God, please, help all these people...
😢 praying for her.
So sad for you! Condolences!!!!!
Sending prayers 😢
I’m so sorry hon 🌹🙏
Sending prayers and donations to the victims.
Heartbreaking. Hurricanes are destructive
Everybody is talking about north Carolina and not realizing Tennessee got it bad also
So scary how fast the water can rise! We all need to be educated in this! So sad for the families 😢 As climate chaos intensifies, this will happen to many more millions of us.
No matter what we do to prepare when it comes to mother nature wrath there's not much we can do & I'm not trying to be heartless
This is so horrible! 😩
Incredibly sad 💔

God bless you, so sorry for your loss. I left Florida years ago and now in the Philippines.
This is so beyond comprension...😢😢
Strange that you would tell a bad dancer joke when referring to your drowned husband's ability to swim. Our brains are so erratic when traumatized so abruptly. Poor lady. She is obviously on a rollercoaster of shock and grief. My heart hurts for her.
I lived in Tennessee for almost a year when I was in the military and I they were some of the kindest people you’ll ever meet. I had never seen cotton and only heard about or seen Beale street or the town square where there was a free concert every night. It was amazing and the people were just down to earth country folks like back home in north central Florida. I remember seeing the ducks cross the street for the first time at the Peabody.
My haven’t things changed. Not for the better either. I don’t understand why people have elected representatives that have allowed that wonderful community to end up in the shape it is. The storm is just the final straw and cleaning. Florida will be next if we’re not lucky. I don’t know why the military hasn’t offered a hand because they would have when I was there in the early 1980’s. There was 35k troops there and 35k young men can get a bunch of things accomplished. The national guard should be called in because we have bridge builders and earth movers a couple of miles from here. My prayers go out for all of them
Do your research. The National Guard, the utility companies, shelters were already on stand by and they are helping. That part of the country has some extremely remote homesteads and getting to them is not easy. The government cannot do everything for everyone and that’s why savy and compassionate private citizens are so needed and valued as front line responders in any crisis. Don’t lessen their efforts with your misinformation. Lastly the government cannot pay for everyone’s home to be rebuilt but they can offer low interest loans and help with initial cleanups. We experienced this in the recent Lāhaina, Maui fires. We are lucky today to have FEMA. Prior to FEMA, if crisis hit, you were on your own.
@@happylivinginparadise9151 Well said.
Tell me how a sheriff is getting away with stealing items being donated to victims. Investigate this
Things are bad for these people right now. I love to watch homesteaders on RUclips and a few are from NC. They say you aren't getting the real story from regular news. They say the devastation is so much more than we can imagine. Please donate. Best to donate through your church (if they're doing that), Samaritan's Purshe or Glenn Beck's organization named Mercury One. If you know of any other reputable organizations, please let us know. Thank you, and may God give comfort to these people who have lost it all. May the Lord have mercy.
Not to be bleak but on a serious note at least she will probably get life insurance and SS from her spouse (they may have not needed it) but a lot of folks had no flood insurance and they have lost loved ones with no way to recover financially. Sorry for her loss. Losing your person is the worst pain under a child it’s devastating. Hope she can find peace and a good group of survivors to make a community with
Omg 🥺🥺🥺
She is a great example of American Strength! Citizens have seen this before in the USA. We are strong, we will rebuild. Im sure by November the Federal Government will invest in USA citizens and our survival of mother nature catastrophes in America. We have to be able to float our own before allowing disillusioned people to collect $$

The all-time, best-selling book has been read by too few. Thank God, for the promise of the resurrection! Prayers from Canada!
God have mercy on all of us
Im so sorry for her and everyone affected by this disaster. It’s crazy to witness the wrath and power of natural disasters when climate change affects it. It’s such a scary thought go think how this won’t be a one time event. I don’t think we’ll be able to properly project future disasters.
Anyone and everyone should heed all warnings. Better to be safe.
Climate change is a fear mongering tactic, we have no way of understanding the grand scale of climate change to the degree that the coined term "climate change" is often used to describe...the theory that is most often proven false. Yes the climate is changing and as far as we know it always has. Data collection about these things doesn't go back very far, at least as far as consistent reliable numbers go. Evidence of a worldwide flood is another story.
@@BRITTANYFREI There is no evidence of a worldwide flood that wiped out the human population.
Pray for her recovery. That is one of the worse stories EVER. I really wish everyone learns to swim. It might save your life.
That doesn't necessarily help in rushing waters especially with debris, and muddied etc. But I agree people should learn, and aim for being healthy. Everything helps.
All children should be taught to swim in school every year.
Children should be homeschooled if they hope to develop the optimum array of practical skills, but sadly most families won't seriously consider how to get that done. Let alone how to teach their own children how to swim, what an idea.
Also most floods are very difficult to swim in, especially with debris and muddied conditions. It's not like swimming in a pool or even the ocean or a calm river.
It's a war zone Hampton hasn't even been helped. It's total devastation. I smelt death for the first time yesterday. I am a one-woman team but if I got to go daily to take food and clothing I will. There were no FEMA trucks. No Army, no nothing in Hampton except neighbors helping neighbors

Why is the media defending the abysmal federal response? This is why you have no cred. Private volunteers have saved lives with precious little help. Why don't the military come in in bigger numbers? Florida's response should be your guide.
Stop listening to Trump he lies the same way as he breathes.
😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
God put you thru this. Yes the loving God everyone pray to🙄
God's designs are unquestionable. Our faith will never be subject to unfortunate events or catastrophes, because that faith is what subjects us to our Father in times like this, to understand His desires and the changes He has to make in His creation.
^ amazing people still think like this.
@@alwaysbanned4812 it's borderline insanity tbh. The God that he seek comfort and strength is the same God that has allowed this and the pain they're suffering??? I prayed to that God for decades, 50 plus years since I was in 3rd grade and it's done nothing, absolutely nothing. Look at all the elderly people suffering here in the states and elsewhere. Think they feel comforted with lack of money or a home?? Thank you God 🙄
@@Joe-n4e8e you think money is what makes you believe there is a God or not? Jesus died to give us free will so we’re free to do what we want. God didn’t create illness, diseases, disasters. But I hope you have fun criticizing people on what they lean to for protection.

Save the dog but.not the husband
She didn't save the dog either. When she jumped into the water, she lost her dog.
Her husband was on the other side of the house. The dog was with her. She lost both.
🤡🤡 Dumbest comment here!
Unfortunately this story has to get lost real fast. The election is at risk!
Why? Whose fault is this terrible hurricane? Pray tell?

They were told to evacuate why did they stay
Only some towns in Northern East TN were told to evacuate, and only had a few minutes to do so. By the time some got the orders to evacuate, the roads were already too flooded to be able to make it. Some had already lost electricity and therefore didn't know about it. One factory initially told their workers that if they left they'd, be fired, and then were only released after the company lost power and the streets were flooded; 6 of those workers got swept away in the flood waters and 2-3 are still missing. In one town it got so bad, many coffins buried in a nearby cemetery were seen flooting down the road. You've no real idea what you're talking about at all.
Where’s Bidens fema
Stope listening to Trump and you'll know where Biden is.
She didn’t check on her husband and she watched her poor little dog bob down the street to his death. Ugh! She is emotionless
This is such a heartless asinine thing to say!
😮🤨 You're being cruel towards someone that has been traumatized and is clearly in shock. She held on to her dog on the porch, probably for HOURS. The footage shows the home floating in daylight the storm hit way before sunrise. Her husband probably insisted she go to the porch for her safety, and not return inside, no matter what...planning to join her and their beloved dog out there as soon as possible. She heard the house cracking and had to jump into a swollen, debris-filled river w her fur baby. She IS Traumatized. SHAME ON YOU!!!
She is American Strength! Anyone of maturity who has lived long enough in the USA, would know that we are strong, we will rebuild. Im sure by November the Federal Government will invest in USA citizens and our survival of mother nature catastrophes in America. We have to be able to float our own before allowing disillusioned people to collect $ or comment
You are despicable!!!
None of us can judge anyone who has gone through this situation 😮 it's very cruel. Can you imagine what it is to watch your loved ones dying in front of you and not being prepared for perfect solutions? She will live with these images in her eyes for the rest of her life, don't judge her.

@@Kittymeow888 They took out bridges that special forces could not take out with rain alone.
@@rasterraster1728 Nope.
This is why when you're warned to evacuate you probably should.
I didn't know that Tennessee had evacuation plans beforehand.
No one was warned to evacuate, and no one could have predicted floods reaching 70 inches in these areas. It’s unprecedented and has never been recorded in this region. These aren’t coastal areas where evacuation is routine-these are inland mountains, thousands of feet high. These people deserve empathy, not blame. It’s not their fault, and they couldn’t have known this would happen.
@@crystalgarry2507they didn’t. No one knew this could even happen.
They weren’t warned to evacuate airhead!
We were only expecting high winds and a few inches of rain in this area. Before the hurricane it didn’t rain here for over a month.
Her husband would be alive if they had heeded the warnings. It's that simple. Like the guy who took his boat out into the ocean thinking he could sail out of it. This women pain will never be comfortated or blessed by God. When you lose your other half prayer suddenly become tritel and usless and just turns in to sleepless begging and gorvling. And thinking why me, what did I do to deserve this. It turns you in to a mental mess. As every one just offers up thought and prayer that are like empty gesters of nothing ness.
I rebuke your whole comment in the Name of Jesus. God is the God of all comforts; He can do ALL things. Don't box Him in or speak those curses over the lives of others just because you walk in darkness. She shall be comforted, and she shall receive beauty for her ashes in Jesus's Name. I pray comfort for you as well because apparently you're without comfort. No one who is complete and filled with joy would've made such an insensitive remark. May God bless you.
Callous comments like this are disgusting.🤢🤮
Like are you so miserable with your life that you have to belittle people that have lost their loved ones and livelihood?
Like can you not show compassion at all?
@susenfreemyers1374 no lies detected
No warnings, the news had only told us a few inches of rain and high winds in these areas. Before the hurricane it didn’t rain here for over a month.
