    Currently on my first bike. It’s an ‘03 shadow spirit. Been turning it into a “chopper” and I love the bike. I do however have aspirations of starting a HD chopper. I’m glad to of found your channel. The more info I can take in the better. Thought about buying a soft tail heritage and using it as my base. Thanks for the video man.

      Legit where I am it 1000$ for the course 100$ per test with 3 tests total and 500$ for registration and insurance and since my bike is only 400cc I would have to re do it with a bigger bike because my license would only allow for up to 400cc to be ridden 😂 ontop of that I need to trailer the bike to and from the course for a month before I get my permit that allows me to ride with other licensed riders which in my area a hitch install plus trailer is at minimum 1500$ and then u have the 11months where u need to ride with another rider which is another 500$ insurance and registration for the year before u get ur bike on the road fully it’s around 4000$ total before taxes at this point
      It uses less fuel and is cheaper on maintenance and everything but they make it more expensive because they want to force us into buying oversized electric vehicles that are overpriced so they can continue making money off ruining the planet
      My car is cheaper every year then my motorcycle at 400cc when it comes to insurance and registration which is ridiculous ur not killing anyone or causing very much damage on a motorcycle in comparison to a car but u pay more it’s all a scam
      I just ride my bike now :) I can’t afford mods I just enjoy the bike the way it is I have the Suzuki gs400t from 1982 it’s almost like a cafe racer without any mods so I’m in love with it, i definitely think a 750 would be cool and the 70s chopper is my dream but it’s all overpriced 😂 why do forks for the motorcycle cost more then a new motorcycle 😂

      hi David...thanks for the cool words...you have two options if you want a bigger frame....stretch the frame of a sportster...which requires metal fabrication skills and a jig....or buy a pre made hardtail frame that has the stretch and rake you want....be sure you buy a frame for the year of your engine so it fits....then you build it out with your donor bike parts....check out Gasbox and Lowbrow...you will probably want a +3 stretch....good vibes....Jordan @ Rasta Choppers

    once again : u cannot make a chopper from a HD , because a HD has no frame for this project , the steering rake is too lo & again : a ape hanger doesn’t make a chopper , ape hanger we used as kids on a pedal bike just to imagine we’d had a chopper , but it was more in our heads , living a phantasy

    You mentioned why you don't want a bike newer than 2003 is due to the engine mounts but is there a reason not to go older than 96 for the donor bike? Asking because it seems like a lot of choppers I see have 78 or older motors and wasn't sure if there was a reason why?

    • @rastachoppers
      @rastachoppers  5 месяцев назад

      hi Beep...thanks for the cool words...newer engines tend to be easier to work with and maintain....and easier to get parts....and tend to have less miles so you might not need to do a lot of engine work. Older engines are the authentic chopper engines...good vibes...Jordan @ Rasta Choppers
