I bought one of these because I wanted something a little bigger than my Kumo 36. This one is a 42L but I must say it is way bigger than the Kumo....not sure whats up with Gossamers measurements but I can get as much in this as I can my Crown 2 65 l and it also has more capacity than my HMG Southwest 2400 which is actually a 50L pack. It never really took the place of the Kumo cause it absolutely swallows my ultralight kit but I have found it to be excellent for my winter kit. It is a beautifully designed quality pack. One upgrade that has really made it better is I purchased GGs airlight pad for the back a much stiffer and breathable version of the foam sit pad.....gives the pack more structure and much more comfortable and less sweat.
I'm going to look into the pad. I know exactly what you are talking about. Great tip, sounds ideal for sure. This pack does swallow gear! Do you like the Kumo 36? I have interest around that pack. Thanks for watching.
I really like the Kumo I also swap out the airlight pad from the G4-20 when I use it.....I have also solved the problem with needing a little more space in the kumo by having a seamstress turn a ultralight down blanket into an actual quilt which packs down to nothing and weights 14oz....its good down to the mid 40s, I love the integrated strap pockets not having all those add ons swinging around....its just tight...plus the side pockets are big.....@@Expedition_Hemispheres
If the pack is not overly heavy it won't be an issue. I have worn this pack several times at 25lb and had no issues. I imagine if you went above that you would start to have some problems.

I ordered one of the airlight sit pads! Thanks again for that tip.
I think you are going to like it....another benefit is it slips in and out of the back way easier than the foam@@Expedition_Hemispheres
looking at possibly getting this pack but the only thing that worries me is the lack of load lifter straps on the shoulders. any thoughts?
