Having three Inf marches as shown at 16:01, I think Alex/Harald, Guan/Scip and Sargon/CJ are better pairs. I personally would go with 1.Guan/Leo, 2.Scipi/Alex, 3.Sargon/CJ
Infa main here. I still remember in one of the developer letter, it said for some weird balance purpose they never release super awesome infantry commander, but they said now it is finally the time. Well, I was expecting something like Nevsky or Boudica level or maybe even more. Definitely not like this. ☹
Chis you made one mistake here 16:11. Sargon and harald have one big ptoential. Harald hits his skill A LOT and it is aoe if swarmed. So in some sense it has the potential to spread stacks of awed on a stupidly large number of enemies. Besides that, as i mentioned in your earlier videos, sargon must be paired with honda secondery for the slow imo.
CJ increases skill damage 5% for every 4s into battle. This is why CJ is strong with Sargon. Please double check, CJ is actually a very strong skill damage buff.
About why Freddy and Scipio's DOT(extra damage) doesn't trigger the debuff. It is because their damage starts from "next round", but Guan's 4th skill starts at current round.
In the battle log, additional skill damage are shown as Defection or Withered effect not as direct damage and Sargon 2nd skill only stacks on direct damage. Even though Freddie and Sargon have the same skill description, in the battle log, Freddie inflicts Defection on normal attack whereas Sargon deals direct damage on normal attack. Somehow Guan's 4th skill is not a Defection effect but it's direct damage so Guan's 4th skill can stack Awed.
Sargon's 2nd skill triggers only when direct damage is dealt. Additional skill damage like Scipio's 4th skill are shown as Defection or Withered effect in the battle log, these effects does not count as direct damage (These effect will trigger Flavius' silence). Freddie and Sargon has the same skill description but in the battle log, Freddie inflicts Deflection effect whereas Sargon is direct damage, that's why Freddie can't stack Awed (And yes, Freddie can trigger Flavius' silence but Sargon can't). As for Guan, somehow his 4th skill does not inflict Defection effect and is counted as direct damage. I've done tests with Sun Tzu, his 800 damage is direct damage so it can stack Awed but his 200 additional damage is a Defection effect so it can't stack Awed but it did trigger Flavius' silence.

I'm an Infa main and a low spender and the more I look into Sargon, the more I think he's a skip for me. The way I see it - you should be running a max of two Infa marches. Alex is a definite must max, Scipio is a definite must max. You don't HAVE to max Guan but you probably will end up close to it. Unless you have a max Martel (which is going to take a LONG time if you're just getting him free from gold keys), you now have a Guan that needs a partner. Leo is a cheap, time-tested back up to Guan and saves you a TON of sculptures, that you can go invest in your Boudica Prime to pair with your YSG. Then you slowly work on your Nevsky + William march. William is viable at 5511 but best value is 5551. Obviously we're still talking about a long time here (at least a few years) but then you're looking at Guan + Leo, Scipio + Alex, Boudica + YSG and Nevsky + William.
Based on the initial livestream I was so excited so I maxed him immediately. Kinda wished I had waited. Buyers remorse….not as bad as my Edward buyers remorse but hey….
skill damage that is caused by % chance of normal attacks don't trigger the Awed debuff. because on the logically, those are just boosted normal attacks.

Hey chisgule, have been talking to sargons Expertise skill a lot with my alliance members and now the question would be the following: Is the attacker in a swarm situation getting the debuffs also or is just the one march that Sargon is attacking getting those stacks of awed. We do have 2 interpretations - 1. normal attacks aren’t including counterattack dmg cause it’s a different kind of thing or 2. does the counterattack include the normal attacks as written in the skilldescribtion. If the second would apply it would be insanely op cause just throwing Sargon into the murderball would be a mass spreading like the corona virus was with his debuffs and awed stacks. Sorry I’m not the big chief, but I am the purist from the streams/video. The expertise does work as you described in the second interpretation, meaning that troops attacking Sargon get the double/triple stack even if Sargon is not directly targeting them. This is further improved if you use a secondary that has AoE skill damage. Hope this helps!
That's not a great way to analyze commanders though. The only two who are actually good in "hit and runs" are Attila and Pakal. Of course enemies running away will impact Sargon, just like it impacts 98% of the other commanders trying to fire off active skills and missing.
How does Sargon/Alex go in the field? Does Alex proc skill damage make a stack of awe? Their joint March speed boost must make it easier to stay connected for Sargon's damage over time?

Chisgule I think you are wrong about priorities. Max Scipio/Sargon 5511 already performed better than Scipio/max Alex. I think Sargon is also better than Guan, even in open field.

He provides infantry troops 70% attack for the majority of time, 30% march speed (which is crucial for inf due to being so slow), shields himself and others, provides a 30% all damage debuff to 3 enemy troops. Pound for pound one of the GOAT’s of infantry commanders. Sure he’s lost a lot of ground due to power creep, ultimately making him a glass cannon, but with confirmed museum buffs coming in the near to distant future all he needs is some health.

yeah im not going to invest in Sargon. my current pairs are Guan/Scipio, Harald/Alex, Nevsky/Joan, Saladin/william, Boudica/ysg. So im just going to horde and wait for nev cav commander to hopefully replace Saladin instead
i used it before i maximized sargon. Scipio is fine when paired with ysg, triggers a lot of damage but the pairing is like glass canon. Guan and alex are also fine, guan's max skill is triggered based on alex's shield and of course this pair is fast for infantry

@@sagmpan733 Keep in mind, Chisgule's tier list is based on the 1v1 tests he did on his streams, a condition where Sargon's expertise is guaranteed to trigger. Idk how often Sargon will get hit in open field and Sargon's 4th skill needs about two skill cycles to trigger once. Unless you bring some slow debuff it's impossible Sargon can stick to a target for two skill cycles for his 4th to trigger. So YSG is there to maximize his damage to make up for it and debuff up to 5 targets. Also this pair is just as squishy as if you go Guan Sargon anyways. Maybe I'm overthinking too much😐

Sargon/Scipio destroyed everyone else including all Boudica marches, all Nevsky marches even (Nevsky/Joan P) was defeated by this march.
Sargon/CJ was similar results. But Sargon/Scipio was stronger.

If you want awed stacks 5550 seems the way to go because they never get removed? Def want to see some testing on that.
Tested, theory busted. If somebody has 5551 Sargon he will hit with that additional dmg. You must be the only one useing Sargon to make it work.

Honestly saragon Alex works, but idk if they tested that, sometimes for me it seemed saragon works better with Alex than Scipio prime

Yes if you change commanders then the boxed rewards change too.
Im inf main, and I was expecting something more than a Fredrick prime.. but I think you guys are sleeping on this guy. Hes 2nd or 3rd best inf cmd and im sure he will be the best for inf rally but not the best for field like scipio but he is still good. Tariq and Sargon is coming for that Zen Flav garrison

Sargon Flavius need to be tested as garrison. Garrison disables Sargon's 4th skill but keeps expertised skill. It looks quite sick on paper
Does Sargon really need to be primary? Or can he be secondary to scipio
I feel like in a murderball if hes 2nd it's going to take awhile to get his 5 second skill damage off. Time enough to get swarmed down. Who knows though for sure just my thoughts.
@@brandynharter23 cause scipio has a ton more passive march speed reduction in an aoe in his talents and also rejuvenate, and people swarmjng him will get the awed too

When you say Joan prime and William are higher priority than Sargon, should Joan and William be maxed? I have Joan 5425 and William 5551. Are they done?

We did test once with it, thought it was OK but otherwise not noteworthy when compared to other pairs.

yeah im not going to invest in Sargon. my current pairs are Guan/Scipio, Harald/Alex, Nevsky/Joan, Saladin/william, Boudica/ysg. So im just going to horde and wait for nev cav commander to hopefully replace Saladin instead

i used it before i maximized sargon. Scipio is fine when paired with ysg, triggers a lot of damage but the pairing is like glass canon. Guan and alex are also fine, guan's max skill is triggered based on alex's shield and of course this pair is fast for infantry

@@sagmpan733 Keep in mind, Chisgule's tier list is based on the 1v1 tests he did on his streams, a condition where Sargon's expertise is guaranteed to trigger. Idk how often Sargon will get hit in open field and Sargon's 4th skill needs about two skill cycles to trigger once. Unless you bring some slow debuff it's impossible Sargon can stick to a target for two skill cycles for his 4th to trigger. So YSG is there to maximize his damage to make up for it and debuff up to 5 targets. Also this pair is just as squishy as if you go Guan Sargon anyways. Maybe I'm overthinking too much😐
