Thanks for the great breakdown! I definitely agree that Button Shy wallet games are a really great product line. Of the games you mentioned that I co-designed, if you enjoy solo puzzle games with spatial reasoning I would highly recommend ROVE. It has a fairly light ruleset but some pretty thinky gameplay. I would say that Battlecrest and Wildtails are very interesting games, but much more complex than their wallets suggest, and quite a departure from the standard Button Shy line.
Just wanted to say my partner and I really enjoy Skulls of Sedlec! Thanks for designing it :) And I've been debating which title to play next, but ROVE sounds perfect!
Great video! We love Skulls of Sedlec game, Play in Cafe often. Just discover your video today. We are couple new to the hobby board game, And live in Wales. Don't see many RUclipsr from Wales, Good job! Wondering do you have board game meetup or board game cafe to hangout? We'd like make some new friends who love board game :)
So glad you got to try it! I've become a Button Shy fan over the past couple of years, especially after winning a carrying case full of their games from a raffle! I quite love the 18-card format and variety of themes, and even bought a good amount of them for holiday gifts :) My partner and I really enjoy Skulls of Sedlec and Sprawlopolis, and for a one-player session, I recommend their solo game Food Chain Island. That game is brutal but really good at making you weigh out your options to make the best choices. There's even a Discord server with channels devoted to their different games, and for example, the Food Chain Island one gives out different challenges such as specific island layouts for people to try their hand at and share their high scores!
You definitely should! I’ve learned so much by entering their challenges and it’s really helped me grow as a designer. The deadline and seemingly crazy constraints of the challenges really forced me to be creative in my design process and prevented me from spinning around infinitely in a sea of endless possibilities.
I can see you going down a Buttonshy rabbit hole and adding 30+ games to your collection! I played Circle the Wagons. It was OK. It is amazing how many different games can be designed with so few cards. Love Letter is a great example too, though not Buttonshy as you know.
Hi Adam! First I want to thank u for this channel, I love it! 😂 Then I’d like to ask u, (I know this has been already discussed), if someone has a prototype of a game, but doesn’t have a name in the board gaming community, and wants to send it to a publisher how much risk do u think there is for the idea/game to be stolen? I mean, they might say that they are not interested and then copy the game for themselves cos u don’t have a name and nobody knows u. Is it only in my head or could be a risk? Thank you so much for your time and answer.😊
Good luck with your project! I’m afraid I don’t have time to look at other designer’s projects outside of playtest groups (I get many requests!) but I’m always happy to look at a sell sheet or very short promo video if you email it to me.
Thanks for listening to our suggestion, that is huge! And I'm glad you liked it! I'd love to see you design a Button Shy game

Thanks for dropping into the chat Dustin! And congrats on a great little game. I’ll definitely check out some of the others :)

Thanks Devin. I’ll definitely give a few more of the games a go.
I keep holding back at attempting a design contest for Button Shy but I think I'll give it a go next time... or soon.

@@TravelingForward Thanks for the motivation!

Yes, it definitely could happen… must resist!
@@AdaminWales especially if they send you comps!

If you like Coup or Spicy try Cunning Folk.
A very neat game I would like to try... Adam I am currently designing a game inspired by those small games. Would you be interested?

I love this notation idea. However the graph is way too cold and scientist making.
Try to change the data visualisation to make it more engaging
