I've been there Pete "paralysis through analysis" nearly gave up because I didn't know what I was doing over the ball or where it would go. Then thankfully Liam came out with the channel, I saw Pat and it cured me. One practice swing, step into the ball and hit. Doesn't give you time to think. Your cure is definitely close to home. Hope you get your form back mate

Keep going Pete - it's all in the head. I was doing Sports Science at University mid 1990s, and in my first Sports Psychology lecture it was still in its infancy. Our lecturer who was working with a few European Tour golfers opened the course with - 'When anyone asks you why sports psychology is important think about this ... a a pro golfer takes 72 shots a round, and the mechanics of the swing itself is, lets say 1.5 seconds. 1.5 x 72 is 108 seconds - less than 2 minutes. A round takes generously 4 hours; 240 minutes. What are you doing the rest of the time? Thinking and stuck in your own head!' Keep working at it Pete!

Don't keep beating yourself up pete !! As a seasoned golfer I know it's nice having the newest shiniest golf clubs but I'd go for something like graphite shafts and big cavity back heads I think it will help you incredibly.
Hi Pete, i have watched up to the 20:45 mark and it looks to me that your last practice swing was great. Your head didn't move that much, but the swing you took your head moved back so far it was nearly behind you. Just an idea. i know, like you need something else to worry about, but if your head moves that far behind you, you will always be trying to get that perfect timing.
This is it, his whole top half is swaying back on drives and his mid to long irons in an attempt to get more power in the swing because he knows he's going to mis-hit it. Which he does. It's a vicious circle. Notice how good his greenside chips are because he's not trying for power, he keeps his top half steady on those.

Worse thing about giving Pete those shots is…he was willing to take them 😉

I’m not a great golfer by any means but keeping my head still helps my swing tremendously.

Come on Pete. I am similar age with similar handicap. I thought about getting new irons and tried the Callaways. Ended up with a full set of hybrids from Eleven golf. Easy to hit, love them. Handicap going down.
Pete,1st of all stop beating yourself up,think positive, stop bringing your club back too far on your backswing and nice and easy on the downswing, and most of all ENJOY THE GOLF,Liam another great vlog,keep up the good work 👍

Love Pete on the channel. We have all had our struggles. Just get back to enjoying the game. Due to a back condition, I have had to adjust my game. Play within myself, take one more club, limited rotation, etc. To my surprise, I took 4 shots off my handicap last year. Short game is the key.

Now don't think that I am against new sticks and club fitting but I just want to write about my journey. I'm playing a 14 year old set of Callaway X-16 Pro irons with stiff Rifle shafts. I had them fitted to me (I'm 6'7") and have played them religiously for years. A few years ago I had put away $1500 USD for new clubs but instead I took $500 of it and invested in lessons. It was like getting new clubs! My handicap plummeted and I've taken enough $$ off my Golf Mates to build my "new iron" savings back up to $1700! Now I have a conundrum. I'm playing the best golf of my life so do I take a chance and try new irons or spend more $$ on lessons hoping to shave even more strokes off my game. I'm sure the grooves are worn to a point that affects spin but the shafts still seem like new...amazing Unsure right now what I'll do but anyway Great video and love the "buggy cam"! Well done

Have a fitting and see if the clubs give you a gain, if yes buy them, if not save your cash.
I wonder how many pros change their irons every few years or if they settle with what they know?
Getting used to new clubs can take time. The thing is a good golfer can play well with any clubs

Really enjoyed the video but just shows with eBay Pete when you relax and just hit the ball with fitted clubs how easy the ball goes hit some belters when he's relaxed and not trying to knock the smoke out of it.

Great video Liam and as someone else stated I love the cart video portion as well!! I know you weren't horsing around when it happened, but please be careful in those carts. I've been involved in one incident and it was enough to scare me enough to never take them for granted. The driver of the cart that turned over on us was sent to the hospital, nothing serious but enough that he checked himself in afterwards.
Takes a good few rounds to settle into new clubs Pete keep at it u have the game to turn it around. Confidence is a huge part of good golf ⛳️ ❤

Regarding early morning starts, like you im in my 60s and i feel your pain Pete! Since covid our course has got so busy, I've had to take tee times much earlier than i used to, eg 6.00am instead of 9.00am. Like you, my lower back takes time to warm up, and getting out of bed too early means no mater how i try I'm just too stiff. Im going to try teeing off later again, even if it does mean it will take 4 hours to get round. Tell Liam you can't tee off until sensible o clock in future.

No worries Pete - I'm still hitting those crappy shots this month. Yesterday, after hitting another crappy shot, I focused on keeping down during the swing. I think I'm lifting up as I swing and thus hardly hitting the ball.
Excited about the new merch! I suggest keeping the bigger badge so people like me can read the badge and know it is Golfmates. "Golfmates" on the arm would also help people notice.

Keep your left foot on the ground Pete. You're losing your balance and hence are not getting a consistent strike.

I suggest that Pete would control his overbackswing by holding his grip more firmly with his left hand little finger and ring finger bringing greater swing control. I also suggest using a 5 wood or 7 wood for his fairway wood shots as the extra loft will reduce his occasional 'boiiing' shots

Try just playing with a half swing and concentrate on the strike first of all mate.
Really enjoyable match good to see Pete finding his form towards the end of the match. Liam is beginning to get that putter going again. The old bleep button was on overtime with the buggy incident 😂😂

Love watching this real golf. Pete needs to stop being so hard on himself. THe match went to an extra hole so surely that is an indication that he didnt play that bad. He hit a few bad shots, but that is what the handicap system is there for. Another enjoyable video! I near fell off my seat laughing when Pete near fell out of the buggy! Another brilliant moment. Keep up the good work. THe new irons seem to be working well Liam!!

Everyone giving Pete advice, who isn’t a pga professional, disgraceful. NOW WHAT YOU WANT TO DO PETE IS… 😂 Everyone just wants to help Pete out, my only advice is this; tell Pete to club up two clubs for the distance he’s going to, swing nice and soft trying to keep a nice rhythm and his swing should come back in a week.

Credit to Pete for turning it around, swing easy! I’m sure that cat thought it was chasing a mouse. Your putting is on fire 🔥 Liam, you always putted well with your old TM Spider daddy long legs putter in your early vids. Mallets work better for you I think…though that putter you’re using sounds bloody horrendous 😂

Brilliant video as always Liam. Pete is such a nice man would love for him to get his game back he’s a good golfer. My one piece of advice is loosen his grip a bit he looks to me like he’s going to strangle the club each time. Great viewing of real golf and always enjoyable. All the gear and no idea! I like the top and the size of the badges, I particularly like the badges on the sleeve. I think the big white strip on the sleeves might take a little getting used to but certainly something I would buy.
Tell Pete to relax, let the club do the work, being tense and aggressive leads to disaster. Plus what putter are you using now Liam, it sounds like you are hitting It with an empty bottle! 😂
