Mary Jane's return. Especially since if Disney are reviving previous animated Marvel shows of old I hope "Spider-Man '98" shows us how Peter found her in it
@@hunterrousseau3770That was not Mary Jane. This is X-men 1997, not X-men 1998. That was Hydro-MJ.
Rogue and Magneto's relationship
@@Kentrc11 idk writer Beau DeMayo says he did find the real Mary Jane
@Christian-nm1eq Didn't specific whether the cameo MJ was 1997 MJ or 1998 MJ, though. Recall this show is X-men '97.
Madame Web & Spidey searched for the real MJ in 1998. So, Hydro MJ.
The biggest revelation from this show was that they were no longer constrained or afraid to kill off characters. Episode 5 was more of a shock than the Red Wedding.
I haven't seen Game of Thrones(don't intend to), but "I understood that reference."
Gambit is coming back lol
@@atljames97 doesn't make it less of a shock. And no one knew that at the time. Also, plenty of other characters died and likely aren't coming back.
Nobody stays dead in comics
@@brettbarton1911 except Uncle Ben. And Bruce Wayne's parents.
Proof that Jean was the original one: the first thing she does upon returning to the mansion is faint.
😂😂😂 So Jean
Gladly that's the only time she does that
Excellent point
😂
After seeing Mary-Jane, Disney and Marvel would have to be insane to not give us a Spider-Man ‘98 Series!
Agreed 💯 I hope more animated Marvel shows make Revivals like this did too
There is supposed to be to be a spiderman cartoon but he’s in high school or college. Which is past the age he was in the animated show
I'm not sure tbh... X-Men 97 was spectacular due to impeccable writing. Everyone is on edge since Beau DeMayo was fired because that quality may not come back for season 3 at least, since he's written the next one. The revival thing had a lot of nostalgia and marketing value of course, but if the same team were making a brand new X-Men show I'm sure it would be amazing. My point is a Spiderman 98 would only be as good if it has the right team behind. And if Friendly Neighborhood SM has it, than I'm not sure we'd need another animated series. That's my view on the subject of course.
ohhh. they probably will do that!
Hear hear
Best. Revived. 90s Cartoon. EVER!!!!!!!
To think they actually achieved the impossible here.... To bring back a show that was left in the past and writing a worthy continuation with refreshing ideas and stuff!
Next time they better do the same with the 90s Spider-Man show!
It's definitely happening
ÿes we need it i saw spiderman in one of episode it looked very crisp
If it's still on Netflix, and you're a fan of the 80s one: the Voltron reboot was good too (IMO). It ran for like 8 seasons too, so if it catches your interest it gives you something to watch until Apocalypse and Season 2 drop :)
My favorite parts of the series.
3. Cyclops jumping from the plane and landing like a total badass and calling the X-Men.
2. Storm entering the scene and the Sentinels calling out "Omega Level Mutant Detected" before diverting their entire force towards her. Of course, this was followed by her literally one shoting them all.
1. The sheer shock and surprise of Gambit being killed off was actually amazing. I did not see that coming.. plus going out like a badass. I mean that Apocalypse scene is clearly setting him up to come back as the Horseman of Death.. which is going to be amazing. The fight between him and Magneto while Rogue tries to stop them is going to be insane.
As a side note.. I really enjoyed how they updated the Opening Sequence every time there was a roster changeup.
Here's to hoping next season finally acknowledges Cyclops and Havok (and Vulcan) as brothers.
Nathan is not cured of his sickness btw. He fights it everyday with his telekinesis.
Otherwise he would wipe the shit outta everyone. He is a fucking monster when using his full powers :p
the Genosha Massacre was more of a Bastion thing than Mr. Sinister's
It was.
I agree. But I do like how they've mixed the X-Tinction Agenda, the Onslaught storyline, and X-Men #300 to #302... (where Magneto says "F you" to Wolverine and rips all of the Adamantium from his body after he tries to kill him) into the mix.
They've got 50 years of history to take from... Why not use it?
The Genosha Massacre wreaks of Bastion's handiwork.
I honestly can't blame Magneto for going back to his old ways. The world utterly failed mutants.
The beautiful part of his falling back to his old ways was that he TRULY tried to be better, he honoured Xaviers idead and ideals and in return he got the Genosha genocide. Vic Coopers speech was amazing, ending with Magneto's "Enough" was a perfect portrait of WHY he fell
This is the best Marvel project since Endgame. Amazing! It deserves an Emmy! 🏆
*Revelation #1:* Marvel can actually make something entertaining lately 😅
Movie theater finance is so messed up and TV is fucked by a mix of no more sindacation or DVD sales to sweeten the deal to get good actors to play parts on long rubbing shows. Also the whole sound strage, everything in CGI mixed with actors who aren't accustomed to that makes for just bad tv
+Aragorn7884
They've been making entertaining stuff before X-Men 97.
Don't kid yourself.
Can they still make entertaining stuff? I wonder long this show has been mostly finished before airing. It was announced so long ago and took years to come out. It is possible this could have been finished when Marvel still had good new stuff.
Magneto pulling out Wolverine's adamantium
I did get teary-eyed when Charles came back and said what the phrase cyclops said on the first episode awesome moment
Y'all forgot the most dislike revelation: Wolverine is a member of the team, not THE team itself.
Man the FoX-Men franchise did quite the damage of the team's image for the non-comic readers people
Watching this list made me so happy all over again. One thing though: I would have loved if they justified the name Madelyne Pryor somehow. She just seemed to pick it out of nowhere. If she'd picked it because of a childhood friend named Madelyne, or some connection to that name, it would have seemed less random. This way it just kinda felt tacked onto the end of the episode and she chose it because that was her name in the comics (where she didn't choose her own name and SEEMED to be an actual person before being revealed as a clone). Very small thing, but I feel like it would have made the conversation between the two Jeans less awkward if she'd said "You're Jean. I can't be. Call me... Madelyne." and it called back to something Jean reminded her of earlier in the episode.
Best show of 2024 so far
AGREED!!
But I fear the "magic" wont will be gone if they get rid of the creator, we shall have to wait and see what SEASON 2 will be like ?!
To see the return of, Apocalypse. from the Past was gonna be insane. Now to see him again in the Present day! Was even more shocking. His still alive.
This is literally peak marvel
i thought the Watcher witnessing Genosha would have made it on here
And him watching phoneix came back in final episode all youtubers I don't know why missed it
Paying off that seed they planted of Cable being the son of Summers was something I had been waiting almost 30 years for.
Speaking of which, am I the one taking Crazy Pills? Did the 90's Spider-Man series really leave on a cliffhanger. After seeing Stan Lee, Madame Web tells Peter they're going to the real Mary Jane, and then they both go into that interdimensional portal, implying they're going to pick her up right afterwards. Did I miss the part where that was a mystery?
Madame Web tells Peter they're going to FIND the real Mary Jane
You missed a key word there.
30 years?! sh...
I totally forgot that Jean Grey and Cyclops even had a kid 😅 And Magneto & Rouge were a couple?!
EGG ZAC LEE
I think the biggest 'revelation' for me was - they didn't have any of the restraints the old show had on them, and were willing to do stuff I haven't seen done under the Disney banner since - well the 90's. I mean - there's showing/implying 'death' (cause how often does it stick), and then there's 'showing innocent mutants crushed beneath the statue of Charles Xavier and the pools of blood coming from it'. Having Magneto actually go to the level of 'nope, I'm ending all life on Earth by screwing up it's magnetic field and also doing a global EMP' and ripping the adamantium from Wolverine's bones. All kinds of stuff I would not have expected - but am actually glad they let them do.
Also - one scene that I crack up at, even though I likely shouldn't - 'We regret to inform you the missile strike to intercept the asteroid failed'. Cause' it's more a case of 'no - you were successful, you guys were just dumb enough to launch all those missiles at a massive asteroid created by Magneto that was hanging in low Earth orbit and assumed it wouldn't remain intact to crash down on the planet creating another Ice Age'.
"and ripping the adamantium from Wolverine's bones."
Chris Claremont announced that he wanted to do that back in '98. Because Wolvie had become such an "indestructible" character, he wanted to mess him up back then to prove how powerful (and vindictive) Magneto could be.
@@djazel5525 Re-watching the original series - I can kinda see why on taking Wolverine down a peg, also on showing how vindictive Magneto can be cause 2-3 seasons in he's been pretty chill considering. In terms of power if some of the other stuff seriously wasn't enough - pretty sure global EMP that damaged Earth's magnetic field to the extent to end all life was more effective in that department.
1. Spiderman 98
2. Iron Man 96
3. Fantastic Four 96
4. The Incredible Hulk 97
I truly hope that Disney and Marvel revives these shows soon along with animated movies as well
Don’t forget Avengers: EMH
@jeffreysimms2318 that too along with Hulk and The Agents of Smash Reboot as well
Silver Surfer too. Come on
@jimboswamps5602 silver surfer got canceled soo soon
Magneto is one of the greatest villains and in my heart he is a hero
His origins makes him understandable as to why Magneto is the way he is.
Wolverine getting the adamantium ripped out of him...
I love Gambit x Rogue
I always hated mr. Sinister
Because he’s sinister and evil
Well, with the name like that, you're destined to be hated 😂😂
Well now that he was restored to his rightful age, the outside of him finally matches the inside.
I mean he was written to be hated but he was a well written character
"Wait until ya see Apocalypse back in #Xmen98 season 2." 🤨
I loved this series. It’s so good
Agreed 💯 I hope if Marvel Studios truly is possibly planning on soft rebooting the MCU with "Avengers: Secret Wars" and takes heavy inspiration from this show, The Spectacular Spider-Man, The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and Marvel's Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur much like how Peter Safran and James Gunn's DC Universe will be heavily inspired by the projects in-continuity with the DC Animated Universe and the show Young Justice
@@hunterrousseau3770 that would be awesome
Professor X does indeed hesitate to return to his X-Men, the hesitation behind that decision is a decent chunk of an episode
After seeing Apocalypse hold Gambit's card, I had a feeling that we'll see him again
We need an X Men and Avengers crossover episode
X- Men & Avengers EMH's would make for a good crossover
@@CandiceVidito agreed
I could see a House of M happening toward the end of Season 2, leading to Hope Summers, and then Avengers Vs Xmen in season 3.
Some of the pieces have been set for that
Or reunited with Spider-Man
Yeah, after seeing that cameo with Peter/Spider-Man along with MJ, I hope to see a show based around the 90s Spider-Man animated show.
when are they gonna release the Magneto underwear figure
the real question is, how many people are going to have that costume for Halloween parties?
You know what rhymes with speedo?
Profesor X crashed from the sky like them aliens in las vegas😂😂
Ong😂
Best Tv-show this year!
This show is my favorite of the year so far. 🎉
Is it, or do you just post "plz like me" comments on every video?
The show has been phenomenal. Definitely one of the greatest animated shows in the past 10 years
I don’t think that I can even HANDLE the greatness that is X-Men ‘97, as well as the MANY SURPRISES that it just laid out in the process!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😎😎😎😎😎😎😎
I haven’t been excited by TV show plot twist for a long time, but thanks to X-Men 97’s clever writing, now I’m genuinely excited every time a new plot twist happens! 😊
I enjoyed the show, but I’m a little disappointed Cyclops hasn’t learned that Havok from the first series is his brother (which Scott knows he has one)
Same. I thought it was obvious to him back in ‘96 let alone the one he was on a ship with on ‘97.
I’m sorry but when the hell did Cable get cured of the disease? He was never used. He uses his telekinetic powers just hold it at bay.
Agreed…unless X-Men 97 is in another reality 🤔
This show is goat statis
#1 (For those who only seen the live action movies): Cyclops is actually awesome.
1:30 Bastion is the mastermind lol, sinister is a pawn to Bastion
X men 97 was amazing
2:31 That was not Mary Jane Watson, Watchmojo.
This is X-men '97.That was Hydro-MJ.
Spiderman & Madame Web went looking for Mary Jane Watson in 1998.
That's what I was exactly thinking. But no, everyone thinks I'm nuts because of my opinion
Based on the news report saying Creed was gaining popularity in the polls during the six month time skip and also the amount of time before the UN accepted Genosha its reasonable to guess that E - Day happened in early 1998. So its plausible its the real Mary J
@kristanmadalleon That news report on the radio given to Forge was 6 months after MJ was spotted, which was still 1997. So Hydro-MJ.
No, that was the real MJ. Beau Demayo (the former showrunner) confirmed that Peter found her.
@Xone9 Didn't confirm whether that was 1997 MJ or 1998 MJ, though. Peter finds MJ in 1998. The show is called X-men 97 since it takes place in 1997. Hence, Hydro MJ.
I seriously need Spider-Man '98!😂
Perfect Number One.
I would have made a bigger point that Shadowcat now exists in 97.
Here’s hoping Lockheed shows up too. 🤞
2:01 It was Bastion all along
Technically Mary Jane can still be missing. This is X-men '97. Mary Jane went missing in '98. Canonically this happens before Spider-Man ends.
I love x-men 97 it was really amazing and badass
The ILY from Morph to Wolverine.
Honestly, this gives me hope that a revival of any of the other 90's animated Marvel shows, isnt a stretch. Would definitely love to see continuations for Spider-Man ('94 - '97) and The Incredible Hulk ('96 - '98).
THIS SHOW WAS SO DAMN GOOD!! I NEED THE SECOND SEASON!
The X-men should have owned some mutant gene inhibitor collars. Rogue could have used it for touch, Cyclops could have used it for his eyes, etc.
just having it around means that it can be taken, and used against them
@@JasonBoyce except not really since it's basically like having a cooking knife in the house. Store it properly & use it safely
I like it
Generally it's implied the long term affects are not good
@Christian-nm1eq Gaslighting. Specific examples of long-term effects would have to be reported. Until then the inhibitors have application.
That is not the real Mary Jane that is still the clone. Remember this X Men Series is set in 1997, the Spiderman Series ended in 1998 so this is still the water clone of Mary Jane.
Don't count on gambit not returning we know why apocalypse was at genosha
DeMayo stated Morph, Storm and Wolverine are in one of timelines - 3960AD & 3000BC "The Animation Man" tweeted they can be in 3960 AD ,
DeMayo tweeted " No Prize " in response
No huge revelations, if you read the comics from this era; no matter the twists in this series.
You just HAD to show the moment Gambit died at the end of the video.
Screw you, Mojo. I’m still not over it.
This show was amazing cant wait for season 2.
#1 should be Morph confessing his love to Wolverine 😂
I loved Goblin Queens's dark magical girls tranformation. Never heard of Mother Askani before; but that is Scott and Jean's future daughter Rachel Summers.
Before the show premiered. I really thought by the trailers, that unborn Nathan was gonna b Nate Grey aka X-Man. That the og changed Cable into a descendant. But they stuck true to the comics. I do hope Forge brings in the possible new recruits we saw. Iceman, Dust, Magik, and Shadowcat most of all. It could b a chance of a lead for a spinoff series. I also would want Magma to b there too. P.S. I'll bet if Jean did what she did to Sinister, to Bastion. It would've freed him of his hatred for mutants.
Mary Jane's appearance is a plot hole. If this cartoon is set in 97, Spiderman's cartoon did not end until 98. That's when he went to search for the real Mary Jane
We talked about the good and the great sheer perfection of X Men (97) but no one talks about the other things in X Men (97) that didnt quite work , was off , odd , things we cant explain that just didnt work , so here are my 10 things that bugged me about X Men 97 and ill try episode to episode
10. Episode 1 : Zombie Sentinels ( those arent the ones that Bishop told us about that invaded The White House ) Rogue hits one , knocks it out and took 1 hit only for the rest. Storm comes in cleans up house and Master Mold doesnt even fire to defend itself , just lets Wolverine behead it. UN comes in after and give their word only science division cleans up Master Mold . Why not hack Trask mind to find out other sentinel bases ?
9. Episode 2 What was the entire point of Magneto Trial ? Charles asked him to walk his path not to surrender to the UN. Unless UN bring sentinels to capture Magneto , it was just his choice
8.Logan made Jean to take his healing factor and that makes sense. Our Jean was there when Wolverine missed her wedding in favor of killing Cyclops in the danger room and she acts like she didnt know how Logan felt for her all this time ?
7.Magneto our leader ... pores 3 sugar cups and barks orders and has no emotion or joy to hear its Jubilee B Day
6. When Rogue meets Magneto according to her , she looked like 14-16 of age tops hinting that Mrs Marvel took place after she dumped Magneto
5.From my perspective , what Charles was asked of is to just wash his hands before dining at the finest table and how he dumped Lelandra so brutally. Xavier didnt do very much at all. Rogue could have hijack his powers and restore Earth ( spoilers )
4. How is attacking an armed military base and what how general Ross knew about Gyreck or Trask?
3.Bastion talked about breed control making it seem it was just mass sterilization of mutants what happened in Genosha. Sinister used a device to block out Savage Land so mutants cant se their powers. Do just that and you have breed control , no extinction no such brutality
2.A dream you had me sell . So Cyclops was right all along it was just b@lsheet he ddnt believe it and waited for humans to strike first
1.The OG sentinels blasted Forge and Storm and there where at least 10.Power back on , Prime sentinels and now just 3 OG sentinels ? what gives ?
I'm one of the individuals who was born in the 90s and I cant help but to compare two og xmen and xmen97 there's such a huge difference I can't get pass
With that being said after i binge the 10 episodes I can say there was a few things wrong i didnt agree with then looking at everything else was great gambit held it down what a powerful sacrifice I somewhat felt bad for magneto
Spider-Man 98 anyone?
Would be amazing if Disney gave this quality of a revival to Gargoyles 🙂
If they bring back Spider-Man TAS. Then maybe they should bring back the Silver Surfer Animated Series too. Since that one ended on a huge cliffhanger.
Awesome show. But I had a nitpick about Forge's X-Men wall. It's a clear nod to Days of Future Past, but "Missing/Presumed Dead" is so weak compared to flat out saying "Slain."
Yea the first few episodes had me confused as to why they were acting like they saw Xavier die when he literally was taken away to space
The behind scene on X-Men 97 now up on Disney Plus, it is just as good. 👍⭐
Madelyne's X-Men '97 costume is more Black Queen than Goblin Queen I miss the rips and underboob
Im Absolutely loving Xmen 97 i hope that this show gets 10 seasons and animated movies as well
It is going to feel sort of empty without Gambit around.
I liked that Morph flirted and expressed his love for Wolverine.
Morph loves Logan, Psylocke is in Canada, and bone claws
The biggest revelation was seeing Wolverine actually stab someone in the show
Now do top 10 funniest X-men 97 moments
The biggest shock was that the avengers are coming to be in the 90s universe
Number One: Gambit’s death (and Gambit is Death, Apocalypse’s Horseman)
Imo it's likely the clone of Mary Jane, not the actual one that got lost.
The only reason I say that is since we're following 90's timeline, xmen 97 would have taken place a year before the finale for Spiderman in 98, and they both share the same timeline given the crossover episodes in the Spiderman series.
Learning Cable is really Jean-Grey & Cyclops Son was a total shocker.
Every time One Eyes Flying Purple People Eater played I thought of Nope
Ultimate X-Spanse:"This means Cal Dodd is been suspended in Season 2?"
Forgot to mention the final scene when the reporter mentioned Graydon Creed was running for office. I thought Sabretooth would should have surely killed at the end of the Bloodties episode. I’m curious to see how Grayson escape as Sabretooth would not have just let Creed go.
7:57 yeah, revelation, aka retcon!
Obviously you weren't paying attention Sinister is not the Mastermind behind it all Bastion was The Mastermind
The biggest surprise was the amount of blood !
Marvel in its purest form.
2:58 everybody seems to be missing this part about the continuity with those shows so let’s get a refresher. X-Men ended in 96 which is why their new revival show is X-Men 97. Spider-Man ended in 97, so its revival show would be titled Spider-Man 98.
If we go by that then Mary Jane was a clone at the end of Spider-Man in 97, then the Mary Jane we see in X-Men 97 is also a clone.
Youre showing a picture of Master Mold, when talking about nimrod. Its not till Jean says “nimrod” do they show him
Bastion kinda reminds me of Morgott from elden ring. someone regarded as a freak by his society, yet he's loyal to the golden order.
I wonder if they use this for an Apocalypse face turn. It could be interesting.
Magneto and Rogue..............
HE LIKE 70 YEARS OLD!
What is the matter with comic books!?!?
After seeing Peter Parker/Spider-Man and Mary Jane Watson in this Epic Cartoon Revival Show, Disney and Marvel both have to be INSANE not to give us all *Spider-Man '98* Revival Show!
If X Force are formed in season 2, we might finally have Deadpool (if so, PLEASE let Ryan Reynolds voice him) show up as more than a blink and you'll miss it cameo from Morph in the original while under Sinister's influence.
What's sad to think about regarding the X-Men having met En Saba Neure in his youth is... that means they're presence in his youth will do nothing to change the Apocalypse they met in their past and his future.
In fact, it could well be their being there is what changed En Saba Neure into Apocalypse.
Unless we have a change the future kind of moment like in Wolverine and the X-Men, this merely means it was destined for the X-Men to meet Apocalypse before he became Apocalypse and then set him on the path to BECOME Apocalypse
Adding Banshee would be very 90s cool for next season
+axs7689
Banshee died in Genosha
Hope summers was missed in this list
