Just finished watching the 5th episode on Disney+ .... and have to say is maybe the best Disney+ original animated series so far!!!! The job on 90s aesthetic is phenomenal, you feel a sweet nostalgia of your childhood. At the same time the contect and the dialogues are more mature and deeper. This sequel is made for teenagers/adults rather than kids. Lastly, this intro and the music during the fighting scenes, it just that cannot get enough of it 😁
One thing that has always bothered me about the entire comic and animated X-Men series, was Rouges inability to touch someone without hurting them, was that they had great minds like Forge and Beast and you mean to tell me that none of them had the ability to create a nullifying bracelet or something so she could have had a regular relationship with someone without her having to worry of absorbing their mind/life. The organization Friends Of Humanity had dampening collars for the mutants.
@@rayawira no not the same at all. The gloves only prevent her from being able to absorb through her hands, but the bracelet would allow her to be held and kissed by the someone she loves without worrying about killing them.
I was thinking the same thing. It almost sounds more digitized and feels overall less powerful... like a shadow or reflection of the original. It would be nice if they could gradually strengten those harder notes and the the overall beat to bring it back up to par with the original, indicating a resurgence of the X-men to their previous popularity levels after Fox drove them into the ground.
@@EricTheDarkRed That's actually not a bad idea. Like how WandaVision had Wanda say "previously, on WandaVision" with less energy each time, the X-Men theme could strengthen those notes each intro (probably more work, but it's a cool concept at least)
Also, did they call Magneto Erik in the original? I thought it was Magnus and Erik Lensher in the movies. And I don’t think he’s immune to Rogues power, but that he creates a thin electric force field around him to not be hurt by her
I just got laughed at by my 11 year old after she caught me sitting on the living room floor eating oranges and watching XMen 97 like a giant child. I have no regrets!
I like the explanation that was given for a new Jubilee voice. The original actress said she didn't want to take the role from a young and upcoming voice actor, giving them a chance to take on the iconic character like she had been given.
@@SHADOOjoey Not discrediting anyone. Just that I tend to not like this art style. Also kind of reminds me of Archer's look, which never appealed to me.
The story telling is definitely the biggest difference. More mature but just enough to still be viewed by children. I love the emotional roller coaster it takes me on.
The Characters are more stylish than the original, the Voice Acting is Perfect & the Messenging in X-Men 97 is way more on the nose then the 90's Version. Honestly they did an excellent job reviving X-Men.
I have always loved this amazing design of Cyclops, ever since I first saw him on X-Men vs Street Fighter. I'm savoring every scene he's in X-men '97 just for that alone. 😃 Well, not just for that, ofc. Gambit and Logan are awesome too. And Morph acting as the resident's Shang Tsung brings out all the cool cameos. 😊
I do like the design of Magneto's new costume as it fits with him being a hero in the series rather than a villain so far with the M on his chest As well as now sporting luscious locks of long white hair
@@will_203grn3I see you’ve never read the comics. It’s not my favorite costume design but this is literally what he wore when he lead the X-men and during the trial of magneto storyline.
@@will_203grn3This is the costume he wore when he took over as headmaster of Xavier Institute and during the Trial of Magneto stories in the mid 80s comics after Secret Wars. Comic accurate and a visual signifier for the time in his life when he tried to be a hero with the X-Men.
No matter what kind of changes that were done in this series, it still remains a powerful and INCREDIBLY nostalgic superhero animated series if ever there was one, man! Truly. 😭
The OG series had 3D style character designs for few episodes but then it became consistent with 2D. Now for X-Men 97 the animation is 2D consistent and widescreen format. The new design of Magneto is based of X-Men comic issue I believe issue number 200. Chris Potter the OG voice of Gambit is voicing Cable. Laurence Bayne who voiced Cable in the OG series voiced the Executioner in the first 2 episodes. Catherine Disher the OG Jean Grey in the animated series is back in the series voicing Valerie Cooper working for the union. Alyson Court will voice a different character Abscissa. Iona Morris voiced Storm originally in season 1 of TAS and returned for the crossover in Spiderman: TAS for Secret Wars. She also voiced Medusa in Fantastic Four: TAS. Cyclops has been given justice in the animated series more than the live action films.
The other change was the music. The main theme for example is the same for the most part but is now more updated and orchestral in nature. The rest of the score from what I've been hearing so far is fantastic. The Newton Brothers did a really a good job with the music in opinion. Their soundtrack for Five Nights at Freddy's was amazing!
THIS SERIES REALLY BRUNG BACK MARVEL ANIMATION TO POPULARITY BECAUSE DC COMICS WAS DOMINATING OVER MARVEL IN THE MOVIE AND TV ANIMATION DEPT IN THE PAST 3 TO 4 YEARS.I AM ENJOYING THIS SERIES SO MUCH THAT IM WATCHING THE 90'S SERIES AGAIN
They kind of did it in the original series, Bishop tried to keep Xavier from being killed and failed. Considering the rolled the entire Madelyne Pryor and Nathan Summers storyline into a 30 minute deal when it spanned a ton of issues in X-Men and X-Factor, I think AoA would be a sneeze and you'll miss it drop. :)
This show is amazing, I'm a fan of Xmen and the animated series. And I'm very happy with this reboot so far! Love that Morph has a place now in the Xmen.
I do find it interesting how they kept Some actors from Toronto like they did in the original series But they are also incorporating voice actors from los angeles to voice a couple of characters
They don't really have time for that with such a short season. So don't expect side quests on the level of Weapon X, Lies and Videotapes. Storm and jubilee seemingly got their episodes but that was more about trying to involve Sunspot and I suspect Storm's part relates to how she will end up making House of M style timeline happen instead of Scarlet Witch. Motendo/ stands out as the only side-quest episode so far partly probably for including Sunspot and also to pay homage to X-men video games that happened since the original show aired.

The same collars they use to cancel mutant powers they could use on Rogue so she could've been with Gambit.
I never expected X-Men '97 to be so violent.
Revitalize the intro sequence? They tone down everything that was great about the opening sequence.... The sound effects, and the harder notes.
I wonder how much joy the OG team felt when they got to come back to work on '97
I'm shocked, and totally unaware of this reboot. Looks like I have some TV time this weekend...
You won’t have much to catch up on. After the two episode premiere, they are releasing episodes weekly.
@@Tioty86, Disney+ right?
@@acebrown414yes there are 3 episodes out right now. The third is 🔥
@@acebrown414 yep. I really loved what I have watched.
@@acebrown414don't forget the pirate Bay
So happy that the series is back and how it pays homage to the original while keeping it fresh and new.
Also, did they call Magneto Erik in the original? I thought it was Magnus and Erik Lensher in the movies. And I don’t think he’s immune to Rogues power, but that he creates a thin electric force field around him to not be hurt by her
He was always called Magnus by Prof X (rewatching right now)
Cyclops landing was just insane
Damn. I feel for gambit 😢
I was a big fan of the 90s show , and I'm glad to say that so far is a win for Disney imo,
So far so good. Maintained the characters well and stuck to big comicbook storylines
The best part of this is that it literally picks up where it left off and the nostalgia will get ppl old and new watching all of the old episodes.
I love both version of the series
They killed Gambit! That threw me for a loop. He was one of the most powerful X-Men.
As an OG X-Fan, i can say.. yeah. They did GOOD staying TRUE to the spirit of the original. 👏👏👏❌🇵🇭
I just got laughed at by my 11 year old after she caught me sitting on the living room floor eating oranges and watching XMen 97 like a giant child. I have no regrets!
Fun fact: alison smith is born and raise in Barbados
Cool, BIM is in the house!
I like the explanation that was given for a new Jubilee voice. The original actress said she didn't want to take the role from a young and upcoming voice actor, giving them a chance to take on the iconic character like she had been given.
Guess I'm the only one that prefers the animation of the original.
Not alone. I miss that too. Sharper lines
I feel the same. Gives me flash animation vibes.
You are def not alone. I don't watch this "new" crap. It's abominable.
Nostalgia goggles are strong with you guys. The current looks 1000x better and shouldn’t discredit those who worked on the new art.
@@SHADOOjoey Not discrediting anyone. Just that I tend to not like this art style. Also kind of reminds me of Archer's look, which never appealed to me.
No one will ever replace David hemlin as the voice of magneto.
I wanna see new villains like Cassandra Nova and Onslaught in the new series.
They’ve checked all the boxes so far. The writing and artwork is spot on.
I have always loved this amazing design of Cyclops, ever since I first saw him on X-Men vs Street Fighter. I'm savoring every scene he's in X-men '97 just for that alone. 😃
Well, not just for that, ofc.
It isn't new. It's from the 80's comic.
Magneto’s design in “‘97” vs Badass and ACTUALLY Intimidating 90’s look…
Me: 😑 Look how they *MASSACRED* my boy…
You can't stand change huh? Everyone and everything MUST stay the same for the minority to be happy. But the majority is loving it so.....
@@Jadmonius how DARE I point out the fact they put magneto in drag…stop it smh lol by the way tell that to majority of FB that are roasting this show
@@will_203grn3I see you’ve never read the comics.
It’s not my favorite costume design but this is literally what he wore when he lead the X-men and during the trial of magneto storyline.
@@will_203grn3 Then the majority of FB aren't comic book fans. They're cartoon show fans. Just like you.
@@will_203grn3This is the costume he wore when he took over as headmaster of Xavier Institute and during the Trial of Magneto stories in the mid 80s comics after Secret Wars. Comic accurate and a visual signifier for the time in his life when he tried to be a hero with the X-Men.
X-Men 97 is more for adults while the original was for kids.
Cyclops has never had laser or heat vision. Their concussive force blasts
Literally what they said lol
They should have kept Morph la signature laugh in this show even if the actor couldn’t emulate it, they could have used the sound bite
The M stands for Mr Steal Your Girl
Cable from the original animated series sounded much better.
@@81carlos Larry Olson-Bayne who voiced him in the original voiced Executioner in X-Men 97.
Show is great so far.
To me, my X-Men! I’ve been loving the series!
Bishop's inclusion of the team placement in this top ten did not age well. XD
Like if you want the “Age of Apocalypse” storyline adapted in this show.
Someone said on clownfish that Magneto looks like Granny Goodness … I now can’t unsee it,
Thanks for meaningful and valuable video as always ❤❤❤
I'll wait for all 10 episodes before i binge it.
Seasons 2 and 3 are already in the works, which is nice.
Im not a huge fan of Magneto's costume, but it is comic accurate, so there is that. I dunno, his old outfit is more iconic.
Love how the '97 animation has been modified for newer audience! Kudos to the hardworking animators!
This show is amazing, I'm a fan of Xmen and the animated series. And I'm very happy with this reboot so far! Love that Morph has a place now in the Xmen.
I'm not feeling Magneto's new outfit. And the romance between him and Rogue is whack.
It isn't new. It's from the 80's comic and so is the romance thing.
Magneto and Rogue? I can imagine that Gambit felt some type of way about that. Considering that he's been trying to get a Rogue for years.
This is the live action x men we need
I do find it interesting how they kept Some actors from Toronto like they did in the original series But they are also incorporating voice actors from los angeles to voice a couple of characters
Old one is just better in any aspect, I have some serious issues with the new one.
I love the changes made in the opening where the title card changes with each episode. Also finally nightcrawler got a title card.
That and Rogue’s cake being toned down
Rogue only had cake in 1 episode
Another difference is that so far, we haven't gotten a Wolverine centered episode. For the most part, he's essentially been a side character.
