Depends what age you started college and the college and profession you chose. None of it is mandatory. You can choose many other options. I am in student debt too, but I dont feel the need to continuously complain, cry or stay negative. We can adjust and move on. Have a nice day, person.

RedRose7997 he can say what he wants. Sometimes people stay in school for years so that’s why their loans are so high. We know what we signed up for when we take out loans. Next, people will complain about car loans.

Zechariah Cameron so you’re comparing getting into college, which is almost a necessity in today’s society, to buying a car which is generally a luxury expense that can be bought for 2k$. That’s not even close, there’s why tens of millions aren’t in debt to car companies

      The new dead end cycle.
      It used to be
Tried to get Job: Need education.
Tried to get education: Need enough money to afford education
Tried to get well paying job: Need education to get the job that pays for college.
Joins military to get money for college:

Government involvement. The solution to a problem caused by government involvement is seldom more government involvement, but at the same time its never the sudden withdrawl of that involvement either because the shock to the system would also be bad.
I believe the most reasonable solution I've heard is to reign in Sallie Mae, stop exempting student loans from things like bankruptcy, to start regulating tuition of schools that accept government insured funds for tuition, and to work out a way to ease the financial burden on students who were taken advantage of during the price gouging that occured because of the government's involvement(such as a tax on higher learning institutions that accept government insured loans that they aren't allowed to roll back into tuition that goes toward repaying student loan debts for the affected).

Jeff Allen because colleges are a scam and waste of time. you spend your entire money and life pursuing a degree that could or couldn't land you a job, it's a hit or miss. but even if you DO land a job you would still be giving back to the government in the form of "taxes", and on top of w.e loans you borrowed during the time you went out of your way to pursue that worthless degree that means little to nothing. better to just frame it on a wall, at least it has value there. and if you want a high-end degree that actually matters in today's society prepare to work your butt off for it, because not everyone has the mind to afford to keep up with those demanding fields...

And then I figured out that not only were these classes helping me with my major (turns out distilling complex ideas/critical thinking skills is how computer science, math, and essays work) but these courses also helped me get a larger understanding of the world around me. If I were educated in just my major classes, I would be a drone, a worker bee... I would have missed out on the interesting understanding of the world that I have today.
I am not yet out of school, and I'm looking for a job right now. But I'm really glad that I am better educated than I strictly need to be. If I ever have kids, I will strongly encourage them to learn as much as they can, even if that learning is not geared towards a job.

Also, even though this may be true(I have a tendency to not believe anything I hear on the internet, no matter how reasonable until I fact check), it doesn’t change or fix the problem now. College is run like a business now and something needs to be done, it’s not like shutting down the governments involvement is gonna make these colleges cheaper so it’s kind of irrelevant.

Wait a second... grooming children... isn’t there another class of people that groom children? Student loans need to be forgiven because college was/is a total scam. People should be able to sue jobs that won’t interview them just because they don’t have a “degree”. If someone has the skills and experience then they shouldn’t need a piece of paper that says “I wasted 4 years of my life”. Children are encouraged to go to the best college they can get into and promised it will enhance their lives - yes I said children. I came from Russia with amount of money barelly enough for one year in college.
But I was able to get 2 years done in community college and even worked as a tutor. Earned money to visit my family.
Then went for 3 years on state university. Took two part-time jobs, around 10k loan for a first few years. Then got an internship that covered my expenses. Year ago I graduated and now have a full time job that covers everything and I can repay loan fully right now.
I only got a few grants that covered 1 year in community college. The rest was my job. I never got scholarship. My mom only was helping me with getting important supplies.
You need to think about your education serious and look for a place that offers you a decent degree and a good place for part time jobs. You either having fun and wasting your time in college or start building your life. The choice is yours.

Jason Love the banks aren’t making their money on the loan. They’re making all their money on the defaulted loans. They get huge kickbacks for collecting on defaulted loans and repackaging of defaulted loans. This is on top of being paid in full from the government already. So they really have no skin in the game and nothing to lose, only gain.

Proper capitalism pays a proper wage, salary, and earnings. Whether one works, invests in the free market economy (stocks, private equity, etc), and or own a corporation. Many are successful. Many have moved into the middle classes. The amount of poor is not as much as it used to be. Barring illness, accident, and evil, you’ll do well. Count your student loans and plan how much you’ll pay to have zero dollar balance.

Those who can't handle the load in college should settle for jobs that they ARE capable of doing instead of wasting money on college. College is NOT the "investment" they insist it is if you flunk out after blowing "somebody's" cash on it. Apprenticeships will pay you "while" you learn the trade. Not everybody can be an astrophysicist and even if they could, where's the demand? People have to look at whether or not, there is a demand in their area for what they want to do

@@quasimobius I would argue that people CAN handle the load of college. But when you are in a lower economic bracket you cant AFFORD it. I also agree that people need to go into trade schools. There is a huge gap in industrial refrigeration, welding, fabrication, carpentry, etc. These are great paying jobs and we need more of them! Although, you shouldn't be forced to go into those fields if you can qualify for college, but cant afford it. At that point then only the privileged become educated.
