He owned that entire room. He called out everyone in there for what they truly are
He sure is an upstanding brownie.
they get called out every year. nothing changes. getting called out is just another form of entertainment for them. the system is broken
Negative this was cringey as fuck
@@jaygio wow. 4 years later you comment?
@@stoop404 actually its more surprising that you responded 4 years later, when I'm just seeing the video now for the first time lol
I hope comedy central gives that man a raise. Seriously, the balls that took....
except not funny so perhaps more msnbc than comedy central
+Woodycoat wat
Woodycoat shit, he was hilarious.
Damn right
Funnier than you.
This deserves way, way more recognition. Hasan props to you..
This guy is brilliant handsome and funny to boot.
When your world has comedians braver than the leaders, something has to change.
Yes, the leaders
"If we raised $4 million, would you take that to save lives?" He nailed it right on the spot
“But please, persevere. Because our thoughts and prayers are with you.”
they got fucking rekt man
Rekt them M8 down to the Congress ST8
*drops mic*
So dirty.
That broke me down.. how can their hearts be so damn cold even after that!!

lol, old white people don't like to be lectured by a young brown dude. Hasan is sharp though.
He is the cutest and smartest.
@M R Its all jokes though, even though it may be a bit overdone lol
@M R then stop being a racist. Simple right?
@@HybridSol1221 you do understand that they are individuals, and not all of them are, yet they are called one on a regular basis. You know, generalizations like that sound a lot like racism to me 🤔
He is very sharp dude
wow, this was so much more than comedy
Quinn Nguyen I love u
Ibeonit I love ur mum
This is what comedy was always supposed to be. The great equalizer to over inflated egos.
I clicked on this by mistake and it was the best mistake I've ever made
+Imad Mashhood she's got 71 likes for her comment, you have 1. Who's the mistake now? 😉
+Chris Webber lol
Same here. No regrets.
me too, didnt even expect that ending..just awesome and he was so confident just love him!
+Imad Mashhood You are the biggest mistake that your mother and I made
You did good, Hasan. Sorry you had a lame audience. That silence just means you hit home. Keep it up.
PREACH 🙌🏽
They like this nigga crazy ha
I was the 1000th like on this comment, and knowing there's 1000 people who agree with your words makes me happy.
Yes he shook them but them outside lobbyists will just write a bigger cheque to keep the congress under their thumbs
They were offended 💀
He Literally killed it. Thats why the silence. Wow. Such a strong performance. None in the room can match up to it and they know it.
the white people in the crowd are so pissed off lmao 😂
Old white men giving him glares lol
of course the devils always get pissed when they get exposed
iblis khan speaking from experience!!!
SHEEKY FAH I said tbat beacause of the commentors user name Iblis khan. Iblis literaly means satan in arabic.

Top job dude, well done.
18:18 shit just got real. this man is dope for using the platform that he had to talk about these issues,

god this audience makes my skin crawl. even the ones that laugh do it because they are uncomfortable. and the older men are just giving him the death stare.

Good job Hasan.God the ending with the massacre in Orlando and the NRA .
100 percent right
When he called them out on taking NRA money...wow. That was so great and took a lot of guts.
Awful bastards! HOW COULD THEY TAKE MONEY FROM LOBBYING GROUPS?! NRA IS THE ONLY DIRTY EVIL ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS TO GIVE MONEY TO POLITICIANS!
@@alfredknubble1958 and you think they're good?
@@hopedean6424 No, actually NRA doesn't do jack shit to help our 2nd amendment rights.
hillary lost. if only she supported gun selling in US. us is the biggest manufacturer of guns and u can stop them from selling. ask hillary
Hassan Minhaj is BRILLIANT in this! This was so well done!!!
I disagree. I think he's pussing an unsafe liberal agenda
+Jonathan Outten you think telling congress to listen to its electorate rather than lobbyists is an unsafe liberal agenda? The hell is wrong with you people? I'm very supportive of the second amendment, the fact of the matter here is that we are underrepresented by our government. Our interests are not as important as their money. THAT is the point here. But conservatives are too scared to lose their stupid guns to try and take their country back.
I have such a huge crush on him. He's handsome, intelligent, witty, and knows how to call people out in a funny manner.
22 minutes and 51 seconds of the most common sense I've heard in years!
Seriously???
Okay, more like 22 minutes and 16 seconds of common sense because of the basic formalities shown at the beginning and the applause at the end :P
Crowd is butt hurt...they hate being criticized, which of course they all deserve.
This is one of the most amazing influential and moving speeches I think I've ever seen... you are my new hero!
THUMBS UP! Hasan has BAAAALLLS!! 11:51 "... but your average member of Congress has to raise $18, 000 a day just for their party. And it's incredible for as much time as Congress spent denying poor people money, you guys sure spend a lot of time beging for it." hahahahha
Spoken with more courage than a true journalist. Fantastic. A tremendous risk you took in confronting these people. The ending is extraordinary. Where you mention it only takes 4 million dollars to buy congress. Extraordinary. Hasan, you took a risk being so poignant with these people but your voice is extremely important. You have humanized the argument. :))
He didn't say anything new. He lives in a liberal bubble, like he said. What gun control policy could have stopped even a quarter of the mass shootings in the US? Everyone's calling for more gun control, but what policy could have stopped most of the mass shootings?
So since we can't confirm a 100% success rate in your hypothetical, we should continue to try nothing new? Because why....freedom? Why is it that gun rights advocates are always so quick to poke holes in legislation that they won't even look into but when we point out that allowing open access to firearms hasn't worked and the "good guy with a gun" theory isn't working, they just ignore it? It's insanely ballsy to say that something doesn't work as terrorists are using legally purchased guns to murder citizens thanks to the failed system you support.
Nick Nunez But open access to guns has worked. Gun deaths and mass shootings have been in steady decline since the 90's, and gun ownership has doubled since then! I beg you to look up the statistics. Watching the news you'd think that these rates have gone up, but they haven't!
Nick Nunez But I hear ya. I don't think 100% success rates are necessary, but tell me what policy would have been even 10% successful. Just 10%, please.
Banning assault rifles. Wouldn't have stopped the Orlando shooter because he was a security guard, but maybe legislation to track and limit ammunition for assault weapons for private security guards. The ban could have drastically limited deaths in San Bernadino. I understand where you're coming from, and legislation for the sake of looking like you're getting something done is not just counterproductive but dangerous. it's 2:41 am where I'm at and I'm not a lawmaker, so I don't have a solid piece of legislation off the top of my head. But the fact that keeping assault weapons out of the hands of people on the no-fly list was voted down is pretty inexcusable.
"A rising tide lifts all boats -- it's not pick or choose."
Damn.
well yeah, if we're talking about boats and water..... and it only lifts the boats in that area.. a rising tide in the Gulf of Mexico won't lift a ship in the Indian Ocean.
***** True but he's in a room full of Congress members. Not disjointed people who are spread out across the planet so the analogy still works.
Pooran Patel
Oh, I thought we were supposed to be embracing globalism and multiculturalism and all that birdshit?
John McKnight
Pretty sure he's in a room full of Radio Television correspondants, so he's in 75% safe water.
Besides, WHAT THE FUCK? Seriously? He's using it in an analogy about the whole mystical Racisciscism land. Nothing to do with Congress. It was an analogy linked to hyperbole and as fucking whiney as he was earlier about "Oh noez all we's brownies gonna be deported, and dat ain't no racist hyperbole!" only to then be "Oh there's covert overt and brovert discrimination and racicism!" Dude's circling the drain.
I'm a Canadian watching this and I feel like most of the views are from people that aren't even American. The people who need to be watching these sorts of things arent'!
I am an Indonesian watching this.
I'm an Indian watching this 🤦♂️
Trust me we Americans all watch it's just terribly embarrassing that these scumbags are our "leaders". To anyone thinking we choose them; two options is not a choice.
I'm Nigerian 😭😩

Tough crowd tbh, this dude was killin' it so hard
They weren't laughing because truth hurts!!!

Exactly. Hopefully, he was the last speaker so that it will sink in.
Its a year later and given recent events i think its safe to assume that they did not.
It wasn't...
He shat on their lives and wiped his ass with their souls!
shokydance this guy is definitely on the 'to waterboard' list now
Nice name!
A foreigner whose eloquence and dignity far surpasses yours.
How would you know? Maybe his other job is making IEDs in his basement.
Aaaww someone's butt hurt :-( poor baby. It's a shame lots of people have to tan to look as good :-D
why is this only half a million view?
Wow... damn... this guy hit to the core of the issue and expressed it clearly. Amazing.
This guy is a puppet.
you're a puppet...
Ok, I clapped at the end there. And I'm all alone in my dining room.
The best roast of all time
I can't believe I've only just now started hearing about Hasan. His show on Netflix is a breath of fresh air, and I just gained massive amount of respect for him after watching this video. He's an example of an exemplary human being.
Holy shit, that ending was merciless. AMAZING.
I think I'm in love.
ikr
I know I am.
only a Muslim had the balls to stand up and say that?? and those stares after 10 minutes...disturbing even he was feeling the heat.
me too
GeekFurious ikr
I click on this and thought oh boy, here's a brown guy who's gonna make fun of himself to get some white folk's chuckles and wow, this guy had the balls to stand there and call congress and the media present out, not pander to them at their own dinner. And an Indian comedian that didn't even pull out the fake Indian accent....bravo.
Hey I am sorry, He is an American by citizenship. A right word should be Indian Origin American
tough audience man..Hassan rocked..
This speech was brilliant
If you're a foreigner or a Liberal hating on our Constitution. Face it nut, the second Amendment was created to protect people from a tyrannical government. The same Amendment was written that it "shall not be infringed upon". Especially by the very government it was designed and created to protect us from.
You realize there's also a system built by the Founding Father's to prevent what you're doing. They're called Amendments, (AMENDING the Constitution and amending amendments) so we can update the Constitution as the current time calls for, the Constitution was never meant to be something set in stone for eternity. It was meant to change with the context of each era.
Naftul Zvi the 2nd Amendment shall not be infringed upon.
Anthony Johnson Who is infringing it? Do you consider civilians owning military grade weaponry as a second amendment right? If so then you're misconstruing.
Don't bother arguing with him... I've tried making that point too but they seem to all have delusions from watching the movie "red dawn" 50+ times... I mean how'd that stand off at the bird sanctuary work out? amirite? If after that they still believe they have a chance of 'standing up to government oppression'' they are truly beyond all reasoning with. The best weapon is just trollin' 'em.
"Please persevere, because our thoughts and prayers are with you . . . . . . . . "
And with that, congress was shamed.
being honest, the final line was as hard to hear as it was for Hasan to say.
Brilliant, honest and true
It was at that moment, he fucked up the Congress like no other. And I'm proud of him.
Wonderful speech, wonderful attitude! It took a lot of courage. The way he started as expected, making everyone laugh and then, bit by bit, his tone changes until «I don't know how to pivot this» and then... Fantastic! I wish all the Americans were half the person he is. Your country would be so much better! So much more respected... My homage to Hasan Minhaj.
Just came back after watching the 2017 monologue.
He was great and is still getting better.
It's disgusting to see the reactions of the some of the crowd, whether they are members of Congress or not. You can plainly see who supports the people of the U.S. and are not just helping themselves. You can clearly see the look of resentment and hate on some of them.
MY THOUGHTS EXACTLY!!!
But it was a brutal roasting! I had reactions that weren't laughter as well, and I'm a humanitarian! You have to be very enlightened to take this level of critique xx
Man, incredible job! Kinda sad to think about how many deaf ears that message fell on though :/
Yeah, they just shut down on him halfway through
They sat their nodding their heads like, yeah we should totally change and do something and be good and fight discrimination and corruption. Then as soon as they get into their chauffeur driven cars afterwards all they'll think about is how many people they have to invite to their next dinner party and how much the caviar will cost for it
Nice job circlejerking instead of actually talking about the issue.
Guns deaths are very rare. You're more likely going to catch nephrosis than die from a bullet.
+Thomas Fucking Jefferson so your argument is that there should continue to be no regulation nor background checks for the acquisition of weapons of deadly force?
you can't "catch" nephrosis; it is not a contagious disease, it's a degenerative disease.
I don't know about you all, but I am watching this in May of 2020 realizing that Hasan called it 4 years ago.
Wow. This is one of the best speeches -and let's be clear, 'cause I'm a former stand-up comedian, and that was NOT just a simple "bit", but a SPEECH- one of the best speeches I have E V E R heard. His 'in your face' insults are a needed splash of ice water on the currently moribund congress and media. I stumbled across this performance ... and I don't understand why it's not viral by now ... other than the fact that Hasan absolutely eviscerated his audience, who happen to be among the most powerful people in the nation. I hope he'll still be able to find work. Who knows ... maybe he'll end up as a senator. It's happened before: ask Al Franken!
He's moving up
You can see the guy in the bottom right at 22:50 say "Very good."
Ayyy Roger didn't expect to see you
he was talking about the chicken fillet he had last night
lol i see you in the weirdest places rogers xP
RogersBase let's go back to the one piece podcast now. 😂
Yes Roger!
Screw this crowd. You're allowed to laugh at yourselves. Just because it hurts, it doesn't mean it's not true. You go Hasan!
Hasan is an example of someone who started their career being honest and brave with the truth, his success has not changed this and i think that is the mark of a great performer as well as human being. Legend.
Whoa! That was awesome! It looks like it's going to take comedians and satire to take down corrupt officials and politicians. And change might then happen! I bow down to Hasan Minhaj! Seeing all those people's faces and their discomfort was also awesome!
ly Pr Dont bow down to him, u'll rather piss him off cause he's a muslim and even the baddest of muslims know not to bow down to others or deter others to bowing down to them.
“I know that being a member of Congress is hard, you’ve got to placate your base, you’ve got to look out for re-election, you’ve got to answer to lobbyists. But please persevere because our ‘thoughts and prayers’ are with you.”
Most savage line of 2016.
This guy is awesome!
No hes not pls dont be like him, he's radically left
You don't know what radically left is. Talk about what you know and know what you're talking about.
Radically left? No. It's more like common sense and being humane - a word people no longer care.
+Ruby Nguyen
this guy did a blatant propaganda piece on the women soccer team on his show a few weeks ago. this guy is as corrupt as the media can get.
Daniel Newman Do you understand what a satirist is? Do you know the difference between them and the media?
If he could've dropped the mic, he would've. Such a great speech.
am i the only one whos watched this like 5 times lol?
nope i come back to this and the correspondence dinners speech from time to time. its gold
This was so heart-felt. I loved how the audience grew more and more uncomfortable as he went on. Absolutely relentless - and what a mic-drop at the end. Brilliant Mr. Minhaj, well done.
This is great, although i feel after 10ish minutes hes getting some sharp stares from the older folk
That's because they're angry that he's onto their BS.
Yep, because he called them on their shit and they have NOTHING to retort with because he's RIGHT
Yea exactly, but I feel like its only the older people who are getting angry and dont want change, younger guys seem to laugh it off and understand the message better.
I actually felt that that was part of the greatness of the speech
That's when I knew he was getting to them & what makes it even better is that he drilled even harder!
That mic drop at the end...
This was amazing to watch. This took so much courage to actually stand up there and speak on behalf of so many souls who's voices are unfortunately lost within our system. This deserves SO MUCH MORE recognition that the 625,053 views. WELL DONE HASAN!!!
Hasan didn't miss a beat, flawless
The faces on the audience, soo good. Hasan Minhaj is my new hero!!!
Hasan Minhaj speaking truth to power is a beautiful thing. Thank you!
How does Hasan not have his own show yet?!?!
brown skinned and muslim maybe?
He does now
It's on Netflix
@@taymaalahmad4554 It’s gone now. Too much truth for TV
Takes real courage to stand up against a room full of some of the most powerful people on the planet. Not the fake courage of railing
against minority's and the yoke of 'political correctness' . Well done Hassan!
Thats whats sad man everybody who tries to stand up and make a change are either no where to be found or dead. Yet you think the people would realize but there are so many stubborn ass selfish ass people in this world man its ridiculous. But more than anything we arent any better because we stood by and let it turn into what the world is today, and thats why it is what it is today until everybody decides to stand up for whats right and I dont see that happening anytime soon.
Ahhh man, watching this felt so good!!!
Thank you Hasan for every single word you said up on that stage!!
A room full of snakes
Like kawhi and KD
"you can't pass a legislation when you can barely pass a bowel movement" 🤣🤣
"Our thoughts and prayers are with you." The barb in the hook. Oh my God that was beautiful.
Hasan Minhaj - that was amazing! I think you got through to some of the Congress people, the ones that still have a bit of heart left in them. Way to address the right issues!
We are Capitalistas, we all like money and we can not have the cake and eat it too.
"If we raise 4 million... Will you guys..." Amazing
Hasan you are so fearless. We need more people like you. My 17 year old daughter showed me this video and she said he is so powerful. Thank you
This guy should be the Daily Show host
This. Trevor Noah should be let go.
lol what a joke ....America will never accept a Muslim as a daily show host
Daily Show audience is the most liberal on the planet. If there ever was a place to pull it off, Daily Show would be it.
I think both are pretty darn good in a very different way, but I have to admit that what you said here did cross my mind after I watched this. Hasan just came the closest to John Stewart in being a real threat to the establishment by confronting them head on and without fear. I would not be saddened if they switched roles.
Naaaaaah he seems too Muslim for it
I love this boy. He makes his parents proud
That ending bit was masterful. I can't believe it's taken two years for RUclips to suggest this video to me. And I hope all members of Congress took heed of this advice.
I get goosebumps whenever he talks. It is so beautifully woven, especially his closing statement. "If we raised 4 million dollars, would you take that to save lives?"
This is a ballsy set to have to do, respect comedians that will hit real issues when they have the platform to do so.
Has an Minhaj is my new hero.
OMG, how did you know I studied Queer Sexology at university? I bow down to your superior knowledge!
I hope you don't have children. There is enough hate in the world without people like you reproducing.
David Coker as well as how would the commies take your constitutional rights
one of the best speeches I've ever heard. can't express my admiration enough.
I love his pin though
I’m 3 years late tho
Can we get a mic-drop, please?
Proud to be an Indian American..Hasan minajh is of Indian origin. Indians Americans are the only sensible people in US fighting for gun control like US surgeon General Vivek murthy and Atul gawade..
+Samhosh Vader stop posting this on every comment plz
^^ ahahahaha...
samhosh, proud of something you had no control over? elating your own race over others? you are a part of the problem my friend. I dont think Hasan will be proud of you.
+Samhosh Vader I'm Indian American .. you should shut the fuck up.
+America You are welcome.
It takes balls! Good for him! The faces of these people are priceless!
Give this man a medal.
Holy cow this guy spoke some truth at the end! He won't get invited back though, unless we the people really hold politicians accountable and make it acceptable.
Watch Patriot Act on Netflix or youtube then.
He has no mercy!!! Just calling out everyone and everything.
But he's just telling what many Americans are thinking. Telling the truth in front of the people who should be changing the problems.
He starts to dig in at 10:38
Our thoughts and prayers are with you 🎤
wow...thats some serious speech.. (with some comedy) ...but he drove his message loud and clear... nobody was smiling at the end.. thanx Hasan.. you have balls..!
Thank you Hasan, for shedding light on the NRA lobby & calling for action from Congress.
While it's despicable that money can buy politics, the NRA is a non-profit organization funded by average citizens. To demonize the NRA is to demonize the American people and the legitimate concerns those people represent.
I think Hasan was a little off on this part. I don't think Congress is responding to the money they receive as much as they're responding to the implicit threat that if you are a Republican congressperson and you vote against their lobby's interests, they will carpet bomb your state with ads about how this congressperson doesn't think you should be able to keep your family safe and then throw tons of cash behind a primary challenger. I think if that's the case, the real battle starts with open, honest, and productive conversations between citizens.
I'm from NYC where you just don't need a gun (especially because it's not the 70s anymore). But I spent some years in rural PA in a county where a guy murdered a State Trooper and went hiding in the woods near my house for 6 weeks with an assault rifle. The nearest police station was 45 minutes away, so yeah, I felt safer having a gun in my house. My neighbors in PA thought I was a liberal NY pansy for not already having a gun, and my neighbors in NYC thought I was turning into a lunatic gun nut when I went to the range. There's just a fundamental misunderstanding between communities, and I think that once we stop talking in pre-written talking points and actually communicate, we can come to a sensible agreement.
But maybe not, I'm high on Ambien right now and feeling ambitious.
The NRA is a "non-profit" with 5 million members (2013)
With annual revenue and expenses of $348 million and $291 million in the same year (2013)

The sheer boredom and contempt on some of their faces as he tries to talk some sense into them breaks my heart.
