Some of those hotels have such history.
Hope that with the stadium, they will underground those utility wires on LV Blvd. The Tropicana had been remodeled to death over the decades with little to nothing original to the resort. Over the decades the resort was used as a cash cow and little money went back to keep the place up to date. The place was an old dump. Not sorry to see it go but have doubts that the stadium will actually be built.
Actually, all THE ORIGINAL BUILDINGS going back to day 1, we're still in use. It was in very nice condition as it had a 360.000.000 dollar renovation just 12 years ago. The Flamingo however, has no buildings that are original. The oldest buildings there date back to 1967.
@@johnfranklin5277 Right, All the original buildings were there pretty much. BUT everything was remodeled to death so nothing that existed in the beginning was there at the end. I've lived here nearly 20 years. Only went in their one or so to see the Titanic exhibit. The remodel 12 years ago was one thing but they just let it decline. The place was a dump. Some bloggers actually were showing items that were pretty bad and dteriated. So, yes, the original casino, most of the low rise cabana rooms existed but are unrecognizable from what it was. Personally, I think that the honky tonk Caribbean theme on the exterior was beyond tacky when the original clean mid century modern look was better and they should have 12 years ago, played back on that theme. A book "Viva Las Vegas" is a great historical document on that and other resorts of the t ime.

I always hate to see an iconic hotel bite the dust. Many memories of being there with Dick and Tony Amato between '83 and '93.... 1 800-GO-TO- TROP.....RIP The Tropicana.
If you look closely, you can actually see the MGM brass collectively grinning ear-to-ear because that soon to be empty dirt patch will all be theirs for pennies on the dollar after it spends 10 years in bankruptcy court...Go Ballers!...
From my last visit there I kept a $1 chip and took a random plastic plant! 😂😂
I wonder how they managed to do asbestos abatement so quickly.

Even though I don't personally have memories at the Tropicana Hotel, this is still sad to witness. Walked past it on the strip a couple times just this May.
One Las Vegas RUclipsr heard from his sources that the Trop implosion date is October 2 at 2 am local time.

We (here in Las Vegas) appreciate your coverage. From a personal standpoint I stayed at this hotel when a couple of monumental decisions were made and has me where I am today.

So i read all these articles about the As to Vegas deal falling through then why the demolition on this resort where thr new As statium is going up?
I was in Las Vegas earlier this week (for one last visit to Mirage), and went by the Trop. I still am not seeing how they're fitting a major league ballpark in that space.
Being there offers perspective.
Eaay there will be no parking same thing at Alligient Stadium or at TMobile Stadium.

This video reminds me of Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It was demolished on February 17th, 2021. I had lots of memories in that casino.
I work at Trump Plaza it was a great hotel now us only a memory and a empty lot that was a casino

Vegas seems like an obvious city for a baseball team you got hockey basketball is on the way Football why not baseball? The Tropicana resort is a dump it was empty a ghost town i dont see the issue with tearing it down it was falling apart.

The Trop was the first place that I stayed at in Vegas back in 2003. Seeing this is a huge bummer, yet it was inevitable. Even after a nice renovation in 2011, it seemed to revert back to the dump that it was in the early aughts thanks to zero upkeep. I imagine that, much like the Stardust land, this will be an empty lot for the foreseeable future given the A’s stadium plan is nothing but a ridiculous pipe dream
I can't help but notice a building still standing. Has anyone on the Nevada Legislature that supported this talked about being duped yet that you're aware?
