When you say it looks as though you didn’t get much done I’m just trying to figure out who would possibly say that you didn’t get much done? And if someone did say that then they have obviously never embarked on an endeavor such as this. The fact that you are doing this single-handedly is just gobsmacking.

Have been bringing Old buildings back From the brink.. For 45 years now.. In no way Is this building ready for Wood. Full Scaffolding Should have been set Up in a surround inside and out. All brick , Mortar, And stone work.. Clean. Down to the good. Tuck pointed.. Bad brick and stone replaced.. Then should be sprayed with a sealant. Very dangerous what you're doing structurally the interior from what I can see is in very bad shape. In my country the top two floors would have to be completely disassembled. And rebuilt. And would all have to be inspected in stages.. I appreciate you're very good work ethic. Hope you're keeping this building for yourself. Personally I could not sell a job like this in good conscience to anyone..! Prayers are with you...

Dan I think many of us thought you were perhaps crazy to buy such a dilapidated château. However, you've proved that with sheer old fashioned hard work, you can achieve a DREAM. You have a special gift of being able to "picture" in your head the end results.
Every day you set yourself a goal. I think this is the key to your success. ONE ROOM AT A TIME.
Watching the mountain of rubble disappear - proves if you have a plan, and work methodically - anything is possible.
I've never been interested in following anybody on a daily basis. However I'm hooked on your daily achievements. I am so looking forward to seeing the roof go on. Your first dinner party.

Chateau channel after chateau channel. Building floors, digging out piles of collapsed walls, clearing walled gardens of stones, chopping trees...you name it- and NO ONE EVER WEARS GLOVES. I can't wrap my brain around it Gloves make the work SO MUCH EASIER! Try them for one full day of strenuous construction then the next day work bare handed. I bet you'll agree with me.

Hey Dan, we're going to be at Stephanies in Aug, wife is all about decor and such - I'd rather help a bloke build things, you need a hand in Aug for a few days? I think your project is just fragging cool and I'd love to help.

You frequently say that you "only" got a little bit of work done each day, but you do more in one day than I could even do in a week working on my home! You are a machine!! LOL

DANGER DANGER Will Robinson!! Do you know about the shearing factor of the screws that you’re using for the floor joist hangers!!!! By code, and for safety, only nails should be used!!!

I'd not be using screws in the joist hangers unless structurally rated ones. Have a read up as normal screws don't have the shear strength of nails

In the wee hrs of this morning I was rewatching some Dan & family videos. And I came across the one where they all as a family visited the Chateau ruins for the first time. That my friends was only 2 years ago. A skinny Dan struggling with the plaster board sheets in his kitchen. To now where he manhandles god knows how heavy those rafters are.
And the muscle tone. Quiet pleasing to the eye🥳 😁👍🏻

I like how your OSB is made in manageable sizes. Here in the US it is 4x8 ft. So annoying and hard to carry by yourself.

Dan, I'm a bit worried about the tarp situation acting like a giant bowl of a rain catcher when it rains, and the weight of the water pooling in the tarp pulling down the entire upper brick walls of the chateaux. I know there's a lot of planning you haven't told us, but I hope you have taken my fears into consideration when you thought up said plan. Maybe build a temporary wooden plywood base to give solid rigidity underneath the waterproofing tarp?
