Except it didn't.
But it helped drastically reduce the number of children getting addicted. In the 1950s, vastly more people began smoking as children due to the easy availability of cigarettes. Now it's a tiny fraction of that.
@@RebeccaTurner-ny1xx I'd agree, but stopping is better than reducing.
It's possibly the only thing you can legally buy to invest which has zero health benefits. Quite the opposite.
Black market vapes gonna be huge, stockpile now. Business will be booming 🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑
So many dumb comments here! Most things produced with a one time use should be banned.
Not seen one comment on how wasteful it is. Mindless people
Population must be on the rise.
Its not declining fast enough, hence the action being taken.....nicotine affecting MRNA, who would have thought?
@@philc1773what about alcohol?😉 So, why then they're not prohibiting pubs, bars, restaurants or supermarkets?😉 Mega-corporations need only one thing - MONEY. And government wants another things - POWER AMD CONTROL OVER PEOPLE! Nothing else! West was laughing over N.Korea or Stalin? Now look at the mirror... D'you like it?😉
@@yuliyaavenberg7463 No not alcohol. However, they will increase the vat on it in the budget! Tip, buy now! Unlike Stalin, these actions are methodically planned over decades. A systematic approach to create a tyrannical state.....Do I like it? Is that a joke?
Buy in bulk , sell for more when there banned. Thank me later
Didn’t say anything when they came out. In fact you thought it was a good idea 🙄
Good!! They were ment to use these to stop smoking tobacco but I know most vapers have never smoked real tobacco meaning that this is a issue not a remedy.
Look at all the kiddies being mad they cant smoke their cotton candy bs and completely litter the public with the disposables lmao
Unregulated = tax dodged😂😂😂
Can’t wait to be a millionaire half the country are hooked
Can any politician please explain.
No more european vape shots
Why not just BAN EVERYTHING.
Oh don't worry they will never ban alcohol and cigarettes.
Good, streets are littered with the bloody things. I see them everywhere, all over the pavement, grasses verges, gutters, when I'm walking the dog.
I dont vape but feel sorry for the wee vape shops that have popped up everywhere in the past 5yrs. They be screwed now.
Most sell refillable liquids for vape cartridges. Thats how it started off. I have had a refillable on and off for years. Definitely helps to get off smoking but if you take it back up a vape is better. Refillables are cheaper too.
That's okay, they can become pointless barber shops or fast food chicken outlets.
@@museonfilm8919 they are not pointless when you can turn your drug money into nice clean taxed earnings, only problem is that they make so much money they need to have 5 on every street to stop thier spare bedrooms being full to the brim with pallets of cash.
@@museonfilm8919 you think they are pointless ?

They will still sell them in their corner shops though, they dont care
why can ban a cigarette?
The government get too much money from tobacco and not vapes.
A bit late why wait to next summer
Oh dear, ban everything
There's probably billions already made that need to be sold first.
What is the sense of banning something but importing the same thing??!😮
I’m the Scouse lad 😂😂☠️
your accent is pretty. But you overdid it for effect . i know what you are tryna do lol!
Half hearted, HMG still cannot get the act right.
What will they use in prisons
I saw a pregnant woman vaping this week. Another SEN child .
the current crop of young gals. can't tell them NOTHING until its too late
Ban Horses on British Streets. Clean up Campaign!💩💩💩
Yes yes bann. 500.000.000
All those batterys
Yeah I'm sure this'll work, when every 2nd shop I see sells dodgy tobacco how in the hell are they expecting to control vapes as well 🤣
And yet they thought it was good to use them.. 🤦👎
15% is the majority?
There be on the black market then!
About 5 years too late.
Unregulated? Prevention is key!
Means bugger-all to me...
It means underground vapes stupid
"they were meant to quit smoking", no, they were meant to avoid smoking. It's smoking, not vaping, that kills people. Would you prefer those hypothetical one million people to smoke first? (hypothetical as they don't even stay vapers, another big difference between smoking and vaping, even in ex-smokers half of them quit vaping in a couple of years…).
Why worry about smoking when so much of the food chain is now causing health problems which a way way worse than smoking.
@@qunngiaqti well, scale, smoking/smoke (incl. wood or other plants) is, by far, more harmful and more impacting.
The food itself is not causing much issues, and even the over eating, despite being a far larger issue, is still way behind smoking. Same for pollution (well, depends a bit on where).
@@claudebbg Oh dear! where are you living. 1 person in a 100 is now coeliac (and estimates say there are hundred of thousands of undiagnosed cases) which is casing massive issues with mal nutrition due to the loss of the lining of the intestines that absorbs nutrition from food. So think on next time you having a sharting incident could be you are on the way to becoming coeliac. People are not over eating they are actually undereating, too much of what is being sold as food is actually just chemically produced addictive drugs disguised as food and very dangerous to the health of people. Until people learn what is food there is going to continue to be these problems. Look up the massive symptom and effects of coeliac for yourself. Uncontrollable Diarrhoea, hair loss, eye sight problems, nasty extremely itchy bilateral rashes, fluid retention and swollen legs and feet, temper control issues and other behavioural problems. The amount of health problems which are basically mal nutrition is the major health issue we currently have.
@@qunngiaqti I live in France.
I may interest you in a paper putting numbers on your statement from Mayo (DOI: 10.1016 j.mayocp.2019.02.019), the prevalence of identified cases is growing to 1%, "real" prevalence is estimated at 5%, there are multiple hypothesis about the growth (including growing diagnosis & growing exposure to factors).
Let's take the 5% and suppose it's worldwide (it seems to be but not everywhere, think Japan, same industrialized processes, more processed food but far less exposure to current wheat species), smoking* remains at the same time far worse (as a YLL/YLD factor) and far more prevalent (nearly 3 times higher).
For both, alternatives are a good idea (simple, easy to switch, already accessible) to eliminate an important amount of YLD/YLL and are both preventive and curative.
*there are other forms of tobacco use, very regional, but very toxic. Those are also easily replaceable by already existing forms as the toxicity comes from other substances (literally adding poison) and from very dirty processing.
@@claudebbg Hmm so you think the loss of years figures are more important than real life. These figures are based on statistics rather than facts. Lung cancers are primarily industrial diseases with lungs cancer not caring if you smoke or not. The 50/50 break has ben consistent over the years and to this day shows no signs of changing. Whereas diseases caused by Mal nutrition are on the increase but because they fall into so many different categories they are not considered as one group.
Back on Cigarette...!
Since these disposable capes came out on shelf’s all I see is kids walking along going to school smoking them it’s terrible it’s not nice to see at all them they throw them away they are lay everywhere in the streets everywhere you look there is these vapes in people’s gardens on the streets on the roads .i myself do smoke cigarettes but don’t smoke vapes they make me cough too much so god knows what it’s doing to young children’s lungs that’s not even fully developed yet .something needs to change for kids health more than anything they all think it’s cool 😎 but not realising what it can cause health wise
Catherine, we are making a much bigger deal about teens smoking. i am an elder millenial and we started smoking age 9 and some even 8 . i have since stopped because you know i don't exactly want to puff black smoke but eventually everyone stops.
I agree with this ban tbh . Disposable vapes are extremly wasteful and the amount of people who NEVER smoked a day in their life using these things is appauling . These should be an aid to stop smoking / healthier option but have become a FAD .
Because now they realise the damage they can do o ye lungs
GOOD!
FINALLY!
More nanny state!
Welcome to the vape black market 🤑 that will be £11.99 my bro
Can’t wait for those schweet discounts on bulk purchases 🙏🙏

Thank God, the amount of fat unemployed teenagers outside my shop is ridiculous.
Aaaahhhhhh!!!!
them vapes are explosive
And how many cases of "exploding" disposable vapes have there been? I'm assuming your saying this because they use lithium-ion batteries? Like the ones that is in every single mobile phone that the majority of people carry around with them every day.
@@mikeyh78 yep 100% agree. Also don’t forget they are also in all those new EVs driving about too.
