This install would be the same for all of the MQB GTX turbos, 2867/2871/2971/3071/3076
Just installed one of these this past weekend. The lines were probably the most confusing part for me when me and my friends installed it, thankfully we got them all installed as you did in this video! This video i'm sure will be super helpful for people looking to install this turbo themselves, as this is the first i've ever seen of a detailed install tutorial for these turbos.

How its spools ? I mean full boost, on older non d5 version gtx3071 you remember maybe? 3800-4000rpm? Or later/faster? I think d5 should spool slower, is it true? Thanks!
Spool between the older 9 blade and new D5 is virtually identical. I didn’t notice a difference either way. The D5 does help breathe better up top though with less back pressure.
Yeah 3800-4000 is about average depending on the weather
What are those lines that come with? Doesn’t MK7 come with all the lines factory installed on the is20
The mamba GTX lineup uses Garrett style CHRA’s which use different style lines.
The benefit of this is once the turbo is installed, future swaps are a breeze if needed. The banjo/AN style lines on the turbo are so much easier to remove in car then the factory style triple square lines
Hey man, how is the 3071 holding on really liking this turbo and more now that mamba came out with the new back housing wheel, question what clutch are you running and the gli? Wanted to ask i just got a ecs stage 3 dont know if it will hold 420-440 wtq love the car mam

Both 3071’s I’ve had have been fantastic. My first one has a lot of miles on it and is going onto my friends R soon. My GTI is using an ECS stage 2 setup with over 44k miles on it, and most of that was with the 3071. Im absolutely shocked how well it’s been holding up. It still grabs as good as the day I installed it.
My buddies GLI is running a Southbend stage 3 daily I believe.
As long as you gave that clutch a good break in I think you’ll be just fine!
@@BoostedTurd thank you for the reply man, really looking forward for more videos and what you think of the new wheel on the 3071, and yes i think that the break in period is key you have to give it the miles it need im planning on putting at least 1200miles before i really push it, and most probably will be going with the mamba 3071, love the car man keep up the good work also really good video on the turbo install people will thank you.
You have any experience with the 2867 variant? Not much out there on it besides one video of a guy making 500 wheel which seems a little bit high for a 2867. Can’t decide between the 3071 or the 2867.
Yeah I know him. The 2867 is pretty sweet. It has great street manners and makes good power. That 500 was on a well known dyno full e85.
2867 will spool around 3500-3600.
Can’t go wrong with a 3071 if you want the extra head room though

I like to set these on the higher side around 3.8-3.9v
