Apocalypse no thanks, it took 3 weeks and $700 in a major city to get a pulled ABS pump for my 05 Ford E250 van which is common with plenty still on the road all due to the current economic delays. So imagine how much and how long it would have been if it were a '78 Whatever if it was possible at all.

@@marcushennings9513 If it were really an apocalypse - you would want something like this that doesn't even have an ABS pump to mess with, and any other part that goes bad, if absolutely necessary, you can cobble together from any other make, and make it work if you need to ;)

Love them old RVs, brought back memories of dad and son enjoying hobbies together. Our hobbies was dirt bikes and legend race cars, when your son was in that RV steering it to go up the trailer I remember letting my son do the same thing when I was a auto transporter that’s how he learned how to drive. There is nothing better than father and son time. Enjoy watching your video. 👍🏻

Don't know if you are my old friend Len Compton did the same thing we were all into the dirt bikes when we were younger. I only got out of it because of age. Len still transports even now taught his son to drive that way. Just a week or so ago his son brought a customers barn find 84 F-150 to us all the way from Tennessee. I remember the beginning days our old ladies had the campers all decked out they would make us go down the lake and wash off all the mud before we even allowed near the campers. Those were certainly the days. The summers we ran Modifieds and in the fall and winters dirt bikes. Same breed I guess.

Yes just another reminder about checking fluid in neutral. The pump on Torqueflites doesn't pressurize in Park. Also, the "kickdown" is that, but it's actual name is the "throttle rod", because that's what controls the shift timing. It never, ever can be left disconnected, otherwise the line pressure will be way too low and it'll slip and burn the trans right up. It's gonna be a fun rig!

I am old Mopar guy and have 1976 dodge chinook 360... well I have 6 Mopar's with 360's... From Ramchargers, powerwagons, ram 2500 etc....They are great engines and were so tragically overlooked, complete workhorses that will run forever... on the ECM and Voltage regulator... I cannot stress this enough ONLY buy genuine Mopar.... On my 1977 ramcharger my original voltage regulator went out, replaced it with $15.00 aftermarket autopart store one... I got about 6 to 7 months out of it... Then I went and stepped up to $80.00 ECHLIN Napa part and only got about 2 years... I replaced with original Mopar part about $150. and 8yrs later still running perfect... The original Mopar voltage regulator and ECM lasted about 35yrs in my 1977 ramcharger.... If you have the AMP meter in the dash take it out and get rid of it, most dash fires in old Mopar's come from this gauge. Dodge was silly running all those alternator amps through the firewall and into the plastic gauge cluster to read the running amps... I always replace with voltage meter and I can tell if the alternator is working that way... If I need to know amps I do it with meter clamped safely on the alternator...

Love these old start videos especially when it’s something as cool as this! I haven’t seen a Minnie Winnie in a very long time. I would venture to say the MinnWinn. is probably a pretty rare bird! By the looks of it you got a solid one. As long as the frame is solid on them you can easily remodel them! All there is to them is a wood frame some insulation and whatever paneling you like. I remodeled one several years back and I’ll tell you how to remodel it for almost free as far as the wood and paneling goes! Find an single wide trailer someones giving away and bam💥 all the wood and paneling, electrical outlets, wire if it needs rewired probably will. I got lucky and the trailer I found had good carpet in it the lady that owned it was super clean so it was super clean I used the over the range microwave out of it and also a couple windows and believe it or not a window air conditioner unit was also in it! So you see what I’m saying find someone giving away a trailer home and work out a deal where you can go take it apart and get it because that’s why their free because people want them moved unless you find one local and have a tractor big enough to move it to your house. That would be even better

I took on a 30 ft winne, years ago, everyday for 8 months I had to work on that thing to get it back to usable. wiring, people use them to pull a boat, use them to back the boat in to the water, The diff gets filled with water, everything that can go wrong goes wrong. new carpet makes them look vary good, when the roof / sides started allow rain water in, I thought I would fix that, but it was when I could see day light between to edge of the floor to out side, the wall working away from the base. I dumped it, We had it for a number of years, Had headers on it, a 454. side cut outs

Mopar elec. Ignitions are fine. They most commonly fail because of poor ground connections from the case to the body. Same as GM HEI, but the GM module is inside the cap, so less prone to corrosion.

I was watching this video and saw where the appliances and doors all had latches and pins to keep them closed. I saw some black nylon straps in a five pack for ten bucks that could keep them shut. They could be tucked away when not in use.
BTW Happy Fathers day Josh. God bless and take care.

My wife and I had the same camper, with a longer wheelbase. Bought it from our mechanic who's wife would not ride in it! The 360 was great, no problems in the 20K we drove it. But, and it is a big but......the Dodge truck wiring was terrible. Pretty much the same kind of jury rigging everywhere in the chassis. All of the wiring through the camper had shorted and had been spliced multiple times. The wooden camper frame was rotted, and I had to rebuild about 1/3 of the studs and joists, in particular around the door and roof. I towed a light boat with it successfully until climbing a 20 degree hill in our campground while towing a boat from a dead stop while checking in, and did something not good to the transmission, which was a really big transmission. I was told a rebuild was about $5000, so I sold it to someone for a hunting camp. When it worked, it worked good! But if I had replaced everything that needed to be fixed (including the air conditioning) I would have gone broke. Good luck, but you will ALWAYS be fixing something on the truck or camper side. These were not built for longevity, but it sure was fun!

My son's buddy (now 44 years old) had an old Dodge van given to him by his dad, it had almost 300K miles on it. He tried to destroy it for about a year, couldn't do it. Finally he drove it to the junk yard, but the engine was still going strong. The 318 and 360's were beasts, go forever. I hope you restore this old girl.

Ihad a 1976 Tioga. About the same length, 17 feet.
Fiberglass, different layout and only 4 tires.
Different (much better) layout. I loved it.
    Big block 318. 727 transmission.
Never ever skipped a beat, never overheated even towing my boat up steep hills on 100 degree days.
So easy to park, everything worked perfectly.
Fridge died, but I got a brand new sanyo unit that fit perfectly.
Had a 30 gallon fuel tank. Got 13 mpg at 60 mph.

If after you fix it up, you're going to be astounded how much you can ask for it.
Depending on the level of restoration, somewhere between six and ten grand.
Small, easy to park and spacious fully self contained rvz are hard to find. I had mine for over ten years. Sold it about three years ago because I moved overseas. Got TRIPLE what I paid and kept it completely stock.
