Total class!! 😂. Just don’t and won’t ever get a band like The Mondays ever again? They didn’t act it, they lived it for real man! 😂. Great stories these Gaz, can’t wait to read the book. Cheers. 🙏🏻
Yeah great stories I'm enjoying watching them, and I understand the media just want exclusives, your a proper down to earth Atherton geezer, I've always been a big Mondays fan, and I'm proud to say I've lost count on how many times I've seen the Happy Mondays, and yeah Yes please is a great album, gonna play that later, I've met you a few times, I was once sat in the sauna in YMCA off deansgate, you came in, and then went straight out? I'm mentioning this because you remembered me, as I went to an acoustic gig on Oldham st in M/cr and was the first to ask a question, and that was when are you bringing your book out, be great to read...and yeah put a CD of you doing a few of your songs and some Monday choose, Gaz your a talented guy don't underestimate your Sen, good luck.
Gaz you fuckin legend. I love your work man, the Mondays - daze - I LOVE these fuckin stories. As a megafan of yours almost as long as i've been alive, its sick as hell to hear these legendary stories from your POV. Keep em comin brother! much love and respect
These are brilliant Gaz. You're a great story teller make no mistake. AND a while back you loved one of my outfits tunes, "dementia" by Dismembered Sound Booth. We were made up to have one of our peers "love" let alone listen, to one of our tunes. Legend x
Dear Gaz not sure if you will see this message. I noticed in an online interview you wearing a Napoli jumper. Where did you get it and why ? Am half London and half Neapolitan. So curious. On my wait to Naples to see the mighty okay Udinese. 8 pts clear at the top.
@@duncanoliver2461 always been my fav band. Saw them at Brixton with Stereo MCs supporting for the yes please tour. The Mondays were not good that night and it looked like Shaun didn’t want to be there, hence my question.
@@YOGI-Gmusic cheers 🍻, loving your stories. Me and my mates absolutely idolised all of you. So all these years later hearing the background is amazing. Thanks for taking the time out.👍
@@YOGI-Gmusic Yeah, I always thought there was a little bit more to it. I've sussed out a pretty good way of doing Kinky Afro though with capo on 4th fret. Sounds pretty cool.... when stoned .
Gaz, Shaun has always slagged “Sunshine and happiness “ and whole album…. Thanks for stinking up and admitting someone in band concurred with me! Lol. Ps was fan since 80’s
Gaz, was Bez involved in the distribution of nice slazenger tops at Wardley High school? I started their in 85 and recall lots of the 5th years wearing them, later I heard a story that they were lifted from a golf shop? Sure I read/heard he was somehow involved but ya know, it was awhile back. 😏
Shaun crashing jeep, then removing battery from the overturned vehicle and making his way on foot to c pot village to trade it… that was a story I read somewhere, possibly some half truths in it? Also that he tried to recruit Johnny Marr prior to album? Yes Please is a superb album… really unfairly treated at the time, love “stinkin thinkin” especially, rowetta and Shaun’s back and forth vocals sound amazing Have you been back to Barbados yourself since?
Yes Please is in desperate need of reappraisal. I avoided it for a while only to finally listen and realized that it's such a great album. Was Monkey In The Family intended to be a single as it had a dub mix (pretty different from the demo instrumental and album) and was included on the hype sticker for the US releases?
Was it ? Factory was going under and we were all separating so a confusing time..Mesages were lost in translation etc....I thought we only released 2 singles...Stinkin and Sunshine & Love..coz Factory records had lost its distribution so thousands of singles were sat on shelves at record plants...we had sa full Dub album remixed by some NYC reggae lads...only me and Paul Ryder had copies on cassette. but we both lost them...typical...they sounding great ..
I’m sure I seen some track names of unreleased demos from Yes Please era and one of them was called “Walking the Dog” does any of the band members have these demos up for release or I’m guessing record labels etc won’t let you post them?
I agree Gaz , Yes Please was an amazing album , media backlash is what killed it is the way I see it , from heroes to zero, doesn't matter how good the album was.
It's not bad, there's some nice chilled tracks on it... but it's not what people wanted to hear from the Mondays. The way they made Pills, Thrills was perfect production style for the band, with Oakenfold and Osborne laying down the beats and loops for everyone else to build over the top. Judge Fudge and Stayin Alive are the last two tracks they made with Oakie ad Osborne in '91, and they were both brilliant, they were still funky but had a tougher vibe than Pills, Thrills. If Yes Please was in the same mould as those two, it could have been brilliant and more commercially successful too.
Brilliant! Love the stories. Thanks, can now play Bob's Yer Uncle. Looking forward to seeing you guys in Adelaide!😃

Great story again Gaz... I love that album too. I presume the story about Shuan holding the lyrics for ransom is a load of shite?
