I really hope they come back to the idea of doing an Onyx guard game. They really should explore more of the Pengulum War and more of the early years of the locust E-day invasion.

1 thing you could have mentioned was that in gears judgment you were originally supposed to be able to play as a bloodmount in over run but was later replaced by the rager. It got so far along development that he even got a spotlight in the over run trailer.
Loved this series though, you were completely right about the wasted potential. Still love gears tho

They wasted the potential of that game by making the gameplay mechanics almost exactly like Halo. Don't know why they done that tbh. Apart from the decent storyline, the only good thing I liked from this game was overrun. A game mode high in demand but TC won't bring it back for some reason
@@Walshy94A shame, its weapon balance was top notch with the swap speed. All it needed was to have the Gears inventory system.
I recently decided to read all the gears books getting me super back into gears and your videos just compliment everything else perfectly
I personally loved gears judgement so many high school memories playing it I feel it could also have focused on Bairds story line and an onyx character like raams shadow it could’ve switched between bairds story and a an onyx gaurd squad carrying top secret operations . Also judgement was great character building for Baird kinda explains why he is the way he is but it flys over peoples head

Just found your channel a few days ago and been watching it, love it brother! I replayed the gears trilogy just recently and finished gears 3 just now, man.. The downfall is crazy. Graphics still holdup to this day, and playing on the series X is even better. 💪🏼

I'm surprised you didn't talk about all the cut weapons and maps of gears 5 and the cut versus map editor mode. I believe there is a fully modeled gears 4 map, (impact I believe) with weapon and horde placements and also the Gorgon, Boomshield, Scoped Markza, Cryo Grenade, Ink grenade and Booshka amongst others are all fully modeled and useable. You can find this all on the dark corners of youtube somewhere I'd link it if I could find it.
Honestly I couldn’t find all of that, I fell out of interest with Gears 5 a long time ago so I must’ve missed it, apologies!

I love the early concepts for the swarm. They look so scary and menacing just as exactly from their Locust Predacessors. I would love to see the swarm designs were kept like the contents. It would signify that The Locust were bad but the Swarm are worse. Like Descending from a bad dream into a unnerving nightmare

I love cut content from videogames, it's always cool to think that a particular thing could have ended up in the final game but it didnt for some reason.

If I'm gonna be honest the coalition should really have a sit down and rethink on the designs. Like the infected deebees and the original design for the swarm looks awesome then what we got.
Ive noticed that cut content from games eventually make its way in other installments of the game. Maybe some of this stuff could apear in Gears 6?
Concept rejects look like some Dead Space necromorphs, man. Would've been awesome to see that shit.
The early infected DeeBee Design looks like the flood design from Halo
We really needed the Onyx guard game to be honest, it would still be good to have one now. They are simply hyped, mysterious and not flashed out enough, like the Theron elite as well other UIR elite it would be awesome to see an Onyx guard game, I'd actually rather it then a new gears 6. Does anyone else here agree?

I really wish we got that grotesque look for the Rejects instead of what we got in Gears 5.
The whole concept of a fleshy, tumorous biomass growing into and taking over a machine and turning it into a complete biomechanical monstrosity (similar to the half-track and the Panzer 3 in ZombieArmy 4) is something that really needs to be explored more in media.

What I'd like to know from you is, what do you think are the key elements that make Gears of War what it is? What were the missteps? What were the missed opportunities?
Gears judgement is what happens when the director is given more power than the creator I personally love The onyx gaurd they’re one of my favorite spec ops units in sci fi and aren’t as weak as people think if u pay attention in judgement they put up a good fight defending bairds team during the trial and even repelled the locust the first time the tried breaking in .an onyx guard game would’ve been a box office hit

Me personally I don't like the cut concept of the swarm because they look more like insects than a Reptilian creature. But I do like the cut concept of the deebee infected swarm, wish they kept them and W video.
You know the warden first design would be complete with a mauler shield giving him a more gladiator look.

The thing about judgment is that it really does highlight the Onyx guard more than the other games with Sofia being a cadet and going to the academy. Also all the other Gears in cutscenes are Onyx guards the whole game
Hopefully they'll use some of these enemy concept designs for gears 6,fingers crossed. I agree some of the cut designs do look pretty bad ass especially the infected db design

Crocodile face. Reminds me of an Sanghili Elite from halo or a Yautiua from predator. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing.
Id love to see a spinoff game with a commando squad as i believe they are the superior elite force over the onyx guards since they go out there and do the dirty work while the onyx guards sit behind and "protect" vips and assets.

Judgment definitely felt like GOW3 DLC converted into another game. Same with the Aftermath campaign. And the Swarm to the Locust is like what the First Order is to the Imperial Empire in Star Wars.

Gears Judgment is underrated
The original swam design is so much better it actively pisses me off how bad the final design is. They took several steps backwards. Hell that's an understatement.

Atlhough we can mostly agree that the enemy designs so far have been kinda weak, you can't deny that the Coalition made some of the best armour, even in concept arts.
If you could bring one weapon out of the game into our reality, which would you choose.
Me, I'd choose the Markza marksman rifle.

Yes you are. Ragers are male Locust Drones. Berserkers are female Locust of a totally different type.

@@kelvinsantiago7061 All Locust are infected with imulsion to some degree due to living in the Hollows. The armor and muscle growth exhibited by Ragers is likely a mutation brought on by greater imulsion exposure.
@@monstersandmachines that makes sense and I haven't though about it I just assumed they were berserkers in the process of maturing (the locust equivalent of puberty).
I prefer Karn. reminds me of Karn, the betrayer from Warhammer 40k. A Chaos space marine of the World Eaters.
gears 4 and 5 just appear to be watered down with as little new stuff as possible put into them

onyx guards have all that awesome gear and just get bitched every chance they get. Tbh i would have preferred an onyx guard game to actually see what they're capable of. They just get massacred 24/7.

@@yourgrandmasjzexboyfriend For you, I guess. Me personally, knowing Baird and Cole since the beginning of the series, Judgement was a nice piece of story. Onyx guard game would've been good too, except I don't think people would've been interested on it since Onyx guards were introduced later in the series.
