There's absolutely nothing in this video that allays my fears... Liberty Media has had a large hand in the great dumbing down of F1. Turning their back on traditional venues for a cash grab in the USA and Arab nations, endless race interruptions with safety cars to try and bunch the field up, nods to the woke mob (banning grid girls!) Insane entry prices that cannot be afforded by most true fans. And the embarrassing turning of the sport into an evening soap opera ('Drivel to Survive'.)

Liberty media just buys racing series and they turn them into cashgrabs aiming at people that have no idea about motorsports in general. F1 is a prime example, they wanted to push the sport more in the us, and ruined the european nature of the sport in the process. Things like lots of races in the us, american-style pre and post race stuff and netflix "documentaries" about tthe sport have ruined f1, at least for the "old" generation. I bet that when they acquire motogp they will remove races in europe and east asia, where there is a huge fanbase of the motorcycle culture just because they want to bring it to the us, thus turning motogp into a soulless competition that disregards its history and its fanbase. I get that LM is a company and companies only aim at maximising their assets and their earnings but it's sad for the fans and the sport itself, seeing the old style motogp slowly fade away.

Before liberty media, F1 teams especially the mid field and bottom ones are loosing money significantly and most go bankrupt.
Now, F1 teams has almost 10x their value.
As an example, Lawrence Stroll purchased Force India in 2018 for $100m. Now in 2024 the Aston Martin F1 Team is worth over $1B, Lawrence Stroll has more than 10x his investment and as an added bonus he also was able to put his son Lance Stroll into F1.
Even the bottom feeder teams like Williams, Sauber, Haas is making profit from F1 which is why Andretti desperately wants to join F1, but established teams does not want that because they would get less money as the price money from F1 would get devided from 10 teams into 11 if Andretti is allowed to join.

As an Australian , I would sit up late at night and into the early hours of the morning watching our local heroes doing battle on the world stage . I would ride half way across the country to camp out at Phillip Island or Eastern Creek when the circus rolled in each year . Sadly Moto GP is no longer available on free to air TV in Australia . As an avid F1 fan, following the sport from the Hakkinen era, I used to take pride in saying that I'm a formula 1 fan. When ever we find other fellow enthusiasts it was all pure passion and emotion. But after the Liberty Media takeover and the whole DTS crap, all you can find are people who just understand the DTS narrative and argue online, as that is currently hype or trend.
This has clearly diluted the core fan experience. Also, as the number such fake fan increase, the ticket prices for races are also at point where you cannot afford.
I hope Moto GP doesn't fall into the same trap as F1.
Sure the viewership will increase. But the core fans will pay the price ultimately.

Yeahh... I can already see five races in the US and obnoxious charades in Las Vegas... I think the only thing that really, really annoys me of what LM did in F1 is the fact that they displaced great tracks in favor of races in the US, where there is zero tradition in high level, global motorsport and that reflects in the events (say what you want, but only the US kinda cares about Indy and nascar. Imsa, which should have more exposure, in my opinion, barely gets any attention, and they have no idea what rally is). COTA is a nice track, but Miami and Las Vegas are a joke. So let's see what they do... (and I can't understand how moto3 > moto2 > motoGP can confuse newcomers. It's not that hard to get)

You sound like a salty old head my friend...motorsport is huge in California which is bigger than most EU countries and certainly has a bigger GNP, the South in the US is a large market with great interest as well. That means huge growth potential and a future for the sport outside of 50 year olds in Manchester or Bucharest. There will be growing pains for sure as the sport grows and being a non-inclusive only causes people to lose interest or shy away imo. Sure Vegas was bad and Miami very mid but they will improve. So don't be blind to increasing market growth because you don't like change or American/Americans. It is a business after all and old fans will die out and new customers need to be brought onboard.

I grew up in an America that shunned formula 1. I was 4 years old when I watched Montoya and Schumacher and mika battling it out. Formula one for me had this aura and mystique to it because Americans ignored it. Now that it's so mainstream, the cars are worse, the racing on average is less entertaining, I really don't want this happening to MotoGP. MotoGP is the best racing on the planet right now, ignoring Ducati domination, and I've been to many races. It's only going to get less accessible if it goes more mainstream. Plus the Netflix series only create a drama that didn't exist. There was real drama back in the day, instead of drivers getting fined for swearing

I have followed F1 for over 20 years, MotoGP for 12.
I feel F1 died in 2014, my interest in F1 has gradually dwindled over the last 10 years, and for the 2024 season I have barely seen a race live and I have probably missed 5 or so races all together. For someone who would get up in the middle of the night to see every race live that is a staggering difference.
MotoGP still has the appeal, I have see every single race, 80% live as I can stream the race when I get up rather that getting up at 5 in the morning.
I think Liberty has turned F1 into dull and boring circus, not helped by FIA terrible regulations management.

First and foremost what I want from the Liberty - stop handling the Moto2 and Moto3 like simply “feeders” for MotoGP class. Make lighter classes self-sufficient again like in the times when guys like Nieto or Ubbiali became legends while never competing or at least winning titles in heavier classes.
Second. Motorcycles are not cars and must not being handled the same way, remember that! All this whining about lots of spanish and italian riders is absolute bullsh*t. In Spain and Italy motorcycle and motorcycling are part of the culture. They ride every day the all-year-long, they ride in everyday life, they have hundreds of motorcycle clubs and schools where even little kids can learn to ride the pocket- or miny-bike. That the huge part of spanish and italian culture. (Same for Latin America and Asia, but light small-displacement bikes-oriented).
The car-entered USA is absolutely opposite - deal with it and stop talking this “perspective market” rubbish (Hey, how can you call “perspective” the market where even such iconic home brands like Harley and Indian are struggling and the motorcycle dealerships are closing?). Moto-community in USA is quite tiny now so nothing wrong in that the motorcycle racing is quite small sport there…

I disagree on rebranding Moto1, it would only destroy value without creating new. I disagree on the fact that more races, with sprint races, equals more fun, it mostly dilutes the buildup and for the sport is really bad. It could be replaced by having some new "superpole" rules. On the rest, I agree, the sport needs more modern approach to social media, allowing more content produced Independently and more materiale be available to content creators, who contribute building the story. All sports need a story to involve larger audience, since David vs. Goliath or Frazier v Alì. I don't like too much backstage, but I reckon It is good for promoting the sport.

The number 1 thing Liberty Media could do that would improve the product the most by far would be to replace the TV director for Motogp. The current director is more interested in showing other people watching racing than in showing the racing. It is the worst TV coverage of anything I have ever seen and there's not a close second. There's so much exciting racing going on and they cut to someone sitting still, presumably watching the racing. Continually. Unbelievable. Just show the racing, we can see someone's girlfriend or a team manager after the race.

They always bring in new techs (onboard cams, shoulder cam, green strip tracker, aero packages, ride heights etc), the graphics, apps etc. Look at the fans attending the race, they all coming from younger age, even babies in strollers are there! how young you want to attract more? Next race max gets a penalty and everybody cheers. They know what makes good telly and will suck viewers in. Most of the viewers won't actually be petrol heads. A biker for 40 years but never really bothered with watching GP, until the last few years, when my son bought me Silverstone tickets and I was hooked.
Whilst I think the current team (Suzie, Neil et al) are great and I do enjoy their banter as much as the race, it rarely caters for 'the average punter'. For example, I have never heard them explain the timing sector markers once.. and I have seen 95% of the races for the last 4 years.
I haven't heard them fully explain the flags
    And so on
Now imagine if you only have a passing interest, you won't have a clue what is happening.

Liberty love street circuits over proper race circuits because their fans are too lazy to drive to remote locations most tracks are located ... so maybe MotoGP back to the IOM ... ;-)

Our hope is that the Arab and those shitty US tracks don't comply to the safety standards of MotoGP (remember you can't have street circuits for MotoGP, because Street Circuit+MotoGP=Death). But at least I can see this as a good opportunity to bring back Laguna Seca, which would be a nice bring back to the calendar

The only thing required to improve the coverage of the sport is to keep the damn cameras posted at the track and not at anything else. Nobody gives a shit about Marc Marquez's dad or Gigi Dall'Igna in the middle of a race. Throw in some commentators who care more about the race than trying to come up with cute things to say and it will all take care of itself.
Hopefully Simon Carfar can curb the intervention of the race stewards and let the riders compete with each other instead of some panel of faceless nerds deciding the outcomes of races and championships.

F1 is like watching paint dry. MOTOGP has more overtakes in one race than F1 has in a whole year or less overtakes than 2 laps in MOTO3.
Welcome to Disney MOTO. Its all far too expensive to watch anyway. £1000 for a family for Silverstone weekend.

It also helps to promote their rider, like i remember when F1 racing at Imola (this year i guess) and Pecco Bagnaia attended that race, the camera pan at him and in the monitor does not show up his name. I mean he is two time MotoGP World Champion, none of them recognise him.

Thanks for wasting the viewers time with this video, you just drone on and on about shareholders perspective and dumping down of the sport for the "wider audience". Unless you're getting paid by Liberty to say these things, it's not even interesting to listen to. The product is already good, it's not broken and doesn't need to be fixed. Some tweaks is okay but it only need more coverage options across the world and a little marketing, no need to screw with the formula.
"What LM did worked." Yes but for whom and at what cost. Seems like you care more about your LM shares price than the quality of the sport and its heritage.

I thought the current guise, MotoGP name was goofy already. I’m from the 500s era and we called it the Bike Grand Prix or the 500s. Then the 250s, 125cc “Grand Prix”. The moto bit sounds cringe. The Spanish did it when they took over. I hate it and hate physically saying “MotoGP”. Wish they’d change it. And they should bring back 125s and 250s. Main class is fine, but moto2 bikes are whack, stupid things that sound awful to ride. Lots of guys just can’t come to terms with the things. Moto3 are cool but not as powerful as the 125s.

    • @Bluepilled-c5t
      @Bluepilled-c5t 2 месяца назад +1

@ yeah absolutely. It was an awesome class, probably my favourite as I had an Aprilia RS250 and it was a hoot. Problem with 250s in GP became the cost. The leading factory bike became uber expensive. But even if they put them all on the same bike to reduce costs like moto2 but made them 250s, it would be heaps better imo. At least they were real race bikes, not these current abominations. I have real trouble getting interested in moto2.
