9/10 for me as well !!! Orogeny got me, but gave me the opportunity to look out the origin of the
word : from the Greek "oros" mountain and "genesis" generation ! Never too late to learn anything
new (I'm 85 yrs old ...) . Greetings to all fans of Geography !! 😉
That one got me too... I chose the gold creation answer because "oro" means gold in Spanish.

same here, but a bunch of these questions had nothing to do with geography.
I missed one, Grrrrr!!!! "Orogeny". I have never seen nor heard that word before on my life!!

I wouldn't have known the answer either and I only knew it because I speak Greek and oros means mountain in Greek.
Hmm..had to expresso delve into the memory vault to break it down & boom.. out pops "Orogenisis" random fluke...

9/10 - didn't know the mountain one, orogeny(sp). Thought it was the formation of gold because of the "or" at the beginning of the word. Took a guess, was wrong!

Me as well (oro meaning gold) - also missed Corsica - thought it was Greek.
Yes, it's very easy to take "oro" for gold, since it is
"oro" in Spanish and "or" in French; in fact , it is
a fake clue, because in French some words about gold will start with the Latin "aurum" , while in Greek "oros" is for mountain !!! The confusion comes when we say it out loud, it sounds more or less similar. I am not the only one to have fallen into the trap !!
😃😃P.S. I hope that my explanations are clear enough, as I am French speaking it is not
always easy to communicate in writing exactly what I mean and do it right.

8 out of 10. Oro made me think of gold.
Oros means mountain in modern Greek. I had never seen this word before however.
9 out of 10. Did not know the Orogeny question, but I think that is more of a geology question than a geography question.

10 - medium difficulty - Orogeny was deciphered via remembering orographic rainfall - hence mountains.

@@quiznook most questions were good. A couple of them were Geology questions as opposed to geography questions... The difference may seem small to you, but to me its a big difference.

9/10. Orogeny as well ...
10/10 -- had trouble only with the phantom island and got that right as an educated guess; the rest I answered before the choices even appeared. To reply to several others: yes, orogeny is physical geography. It's geology as well; nothing says something has to be limited to just one branch of science!

10/10, but only because it was multiple choice. Without the choices offered, I would have had 6 or 7 out of 10. Most multiple choice questions go something like this: What is the capital of Russia A. 325; B. Tiger; C. Atlantic Ocean; D. Moscow; E Henry the VIII. I learned really early how to pass almost any multiple choice test.

Number 4 is a tricky suckka. Oro is gold in Spanish.
Missed that one too, sometimes being bilingual works against you, Oro is the Spanish word for gold, so I switched from the formation of mountains to the formation of gold deposits.🤷♂️
@@tonyl4438 The formation of gold deposit is "auriferous; in the quizz, the prefix "oro" was the trap ... but IMHO it belongs more to
Geology rather than Geography, the link is tenuous !! (I'm bilingual as well , even trilingual but it did not help much) !! 😉

Probably cause figured the Oro was short for ore. Trick question... 😉
I got 5 out of 10 which makes it pretty hard, however orogeny is the primary mechanism by which mountains are formed on continents. That is geology NOT geography. So that's actually 5 out of 9. And the phrase "titillate your psyche" well, that comes under the category "Disturbingly Weird".
I don't know about you, but #6 I just call it bloody cold

10 out of 10 for me but 2 educated guesses on the Orogeny and Penguin questions.

But then I am strange. I was playing Trivial Pursuit and a geography question came up for me and the guy holding the card laughed and said "which 2 states in the USA border the most other states". After a few moments I said Missouri and Tennessee. Then I said they border 8 states and I proceeded to name them. The game ended. I am not from the USA. I have a great memory for maps but terrible at math.

What helped for me I knew Napoleon was corsican so it must belong to france
I got them all right although I guessed on the phantom island. The other questions were pretty easy though.

In the case of Corsica, history came into it. It's where Napoleon Bonaparte was born.
But he was Italian. He just happened to be born in Corsica right after the French got hold of it.

@@quiznook you know, a truly difficult quiz would be one in which you did not have multiple choice, but had to know the answer. Sort of like Jeopardy!.

Enjoyed learning what I didn't know - Corsica is French, Orogeny has nothing to do with gold, and tundra/taiga.
Indeed those were the tricky ones - and I did not even do that on purpose! "Oro" must've made me think of gold as well when I created the question so I just put it in there as a choice 😅 I'm glad you enjoyed it, thanks for playing!
9/10.. corsica got me.. however IO knoetd their is confusion over what state in australia is not on the mainland... this is confusing.. NEW ZEALAND is actually identified as part of AUSTRALIA in its consitituion! so both Tazmania and New Zealand are states that are not part of Australia's main land! (but that is getting really technical over the OZ constitution!
