17/20. I mixed up North and South Pole and have actually visited the North Pole. I love history and geography. A Reg Nurse for profession. Have traveled a good bit. Retired. I read a lot before my eyes got bad. I do learn lots of interesting things watching RUclips. Enjoyed the quiz. I learned a lot in my life just being interested in everything. I just don't get people not wanting to know.
Yeah I said North Pole too. Furthest. North I've been is Edinburgh, Scotland I guess. East:. Zell Am See, Austria. South: Southern Most Point in USA at South end of Key West , Florida. West:. I'd have to check map but somewhere there in Los Angeles, California. Don't think went to beach and ocean until south of LA. But I think the coast cuts in Eastward. Did not go to Malibu.
How coincidental. I am an RT, not quite yet retired. I've always been a reader and love history and travel. I am infamous for immediately googling anything I happen upon that I don't know.

Erratum 2: While Sweden DECLARED its neutrality in 1814, Switzerland DECLARED its own one in 1515, after losing in the battle of Marignano. In 1815, it was merely acknowledged by the members of the Vienna Congress. that makes the answer given completely correct again.
Plot twist!! Thanks for the interesting info. Okay here's what I got: European countries recognized Switzerland's neutrality back in 1648 under the Peace of Westphalia. However, in 1798 and the following years, Switzerland was invaded by the French, then by the Russian and Austrian. In 1815, the Congress of Vienna fully re-established Swiss independence and the European powers agreed to permanently recognize Swiss neutrality. So... it was Switzerland, then Sweden, then Switzerland again! This is getting tricky. In conclusion, next time I'll know to be wiser and just not use the terms "most ... in the world" 😂

Missed 2. I'm learning one thing from taking these quizzes...I have TONS of fairly useless information. I'm ready for Jeopardy, if they ever call 😄.
My brother has an M.D. and a J.D. and a fantastic memory but would never go on Jeopardy, neither would I though my memory is quite good!
@@willmpet most of Jeopardy isn't even post graduate college information. A lot of it is stuff people forgot since high-school. I think I'd do decently on Jeopardy, because I homeschooled our girl, and had to teach her all that stuff typically forgotten after we graduate. Also, curriculums these days for middle and high school often involve stuff I didn't see until well into high-school or college (and in the case of middle school science electrical circuits) the military. I got a great refresher of the information typically forgotten after high-school and college.

I got at least 6 wrong - I forget but this one was the hardest for me. I did worse than any other test.
Got one wrong - the last one about South Korea. For me, this was a good score. These quizzes improve one’s knowledge, but sometimes I’m afraid to take them, because ignorance is bliss…..LOL

I thought the HQ of the United nations was Switzerland so I was perplexed that was not even a choice. Good for you in getting 19/20

19/20. Tripped up by the pre-history question. Enjoyable quiz
I got it right but the answer should have been beer. Without beer, there is no such thing as civilization (which separates pre-history from history). Let's face it, the only reason ancient peoples learned to write was to get down on papyrus/rice paper/wood blocks/stone tablets/whatever the recipe for beer.

I was patting myself on the back until the final question. The word "Han" to me meant only China. The Yalu river is the only river I know associated with Korea, so I went with China on #20. I think they saved the hardest question till last. I would be interested in seeing a list of all the scores in this quiz and just how many missed that final question.

I only got it right because I lived in Korea for six years, and although the Chinese are Han people, anyone who has lived in South Korea for any length of time knows about the Miracle of the Han River. Interestingly enough, in the mid-60's, it was North Korea that had the miracle economy, not South Korea. A bit more impressive when you realize what US bombing did to North Korea, and how they received zero aid from the United States--unlike their cousins in the south.

Was convinced that Costa Rica had had the longest neutrality record instead of Switzerland bc they abolished their army a while ago, but I had no Idea the Swiss hadn't gotten involved in a war since 1815, damn! Then the last question, I had no idea about the Miracle On the Han River so I guessed China bc Han Dynasty and all that. Pls keep these coming, I love history!

US geography test was too easy. The European test was about the right challenge. Scored 12 of 15 when I have limited experience traveling in Europe. Wasn’t familiar with a couple terms that left me guessing.

The Allied Forces in WWII did not include France. France was not even in the war. It included Canada, which was in the war for over 2 years before the U.S. got involved. The main allied forces in order of participation were G.B., Canada, U.S., and Russia played a large part, but mostly at the end of the war.

17/20. I'm embarrassed to admit I missed #9 (end of pre-history). I was mulling the intriguing answers too long and ran out of time. D'OH! Must be that slow, sleepy music that lulls you into thinking you have more time. LOL! Also missed #16. I was thinking Modi, but no, that's India, Then ran out of time. D'OH again! Also #20. Got fooled into thinking Han River reference was to China. Fun tests!!!

Source on the switzerland question? Sweden also has a policy of neutrality and has been at peace since 1814, one year longer than switzerland. Not sure when exactly there respective policies were adopted though.
I double checked and you are absolutely right. Sweden is the correct answer. Can’t believe I missed it. Thank you for pointing it out. I will mark this as an erratum in the quiz description.

I'm usually extra careful if I ever use absolutes (the "longest", "largest", "most ..."), but this one has clearly slipped - quite disappointed with myself there. Thanks for your comment :)
