I've used a clamp to hold the lever down, and wedged wood underneath the bucket to help bolt alignment. Pulling the recoil is genius, I've never seen that before.
Just replaced my drive belt on my HS724 after watching this video. Your tips made the job easy. Thanks! As noted in a comment below I did not need to split the machine for just the drive belt.
8:45, that brake shoe can be a real problem during reassembly. I wedge a 3" long (approx.) block of wood between the inside of the cable bracket against the tensioner pulley. That forces the brake shoe completely out of the way of the auger drive pulley.
If you only have to replace the drive belt you do not have to split the machine. But most shops do since the machine is in the shop and they can also replace the impeller bearing. Generally speaking the auger belt lasts a lot longer than the drive belt. Replacing only the drive belt takes about 15 minutes with experience.
NOTHING BEATS A HONDA SNOWBLOWER! NOTHING. Thank you for the help.
My HS55 is similar to this HS70 and this tutorial will prove helpful. Thank you!
