As a teen I remember a child in the grocery store acting up. The mother was so bothered by a lady frowning at her. My mother told the young mother, "Everything is ok. Most of us have been at your stage of life and we know what you're going through right now. Those that haven't been there will never understand. So just relax, hold your head high and march on." The lady actually gave my mother a hug. As a teen it didn't mean a thing to me, but when I got to the stage in life, that the mother was in that day, I remembered my mothers' words. I went through that store with my head high and my heart beating like a drum. Rebekka is at her 3-year-old stage of life and an absolutely adorable little thing and as normal as can be. I love her and your whole family......and no buts.........
I have been watching your videos for quite awhile now. I am an “older woman”, 66, and would be proud to call any one of your children my grandchild. All of them , without exception are thoughtful, kind and helpful. I always leave your videos feeling happy that we have some children in this world like yours. They restore my faith in the future. Your sweet Rebecca is adorable and sweet so don’t listen to those ignorant people who like to make evil comments just to see themselves in print. I’m sorry you have to deal with this. Please let your children know what I have said about them and tell them to continue on in their lives being the wonderful, smart and delightful people I know they are growing up to be. Here's my take on it: When I watch your videos (along with other family vloggers at times), I am SO VERY IMPRESSED with the patience you have with your precious baby. The fact that you ALLOW her to interrupt with kindness shows the very essence of good parenting. I hope they don't wish for you to just usher her out of the frame so you can continue to film without interruption. Seeing her joy in those interruptions which are just being a kid to her such as: "I'm eating a pancake, a berry, a biscuit, etc." are the MOST SPECIAL part of it to me and a whole lot of other people. Have we become so impatient, that we can't give a child 2 seconds to be mothered and included. I mean her smile alone makes my day. The way your family helps with her and works together to allow us into your lives is just a blessing in itself. I cannot respond to the pinned comment because as you have said, if you can't say anything kind, stay silent so I will on that. Your reply was enough for me. Ok I am the eldest of 11 children and one of the things that I enjoy most about your family is the memories of the love and joy that we shared. Your youngest in my opinion acts like a sweet, joyful, inquisitive, bright, and loved youngest child. You have done a wonderful job raising your children they are very well mannered and each one has their own special talents you have encouraged, they are truly delightful. I do enjoy your youngest the way she marches around with her brothers and sisters making herself part of whatever is going on. I also remember seeing her gently taken on a little walk by her father when she gets a little silly and being told ever so gently to wait just a minute by her mother. This is discipline at its best. I watch you because I have a 4 year old granddaughter and I learn so much from you as I watch your interactions with Rebecca. You are respectful and kind to your daughter. She will learn to treat others that same way. Your expectations of her behavior match her abilities. This teaches her confidence. You smile and encourage her in positive ways. She will learn to love life and have close warm relationships. You know exactly what you are doing. Discipline is not black and white. It’s given in an age appropriate manner. I raised a very hyper ADH autistic child. You cannot believe the horrible comments people made to me in public because of his behavior. I tried my best to discipline him. It’s not like I let him run wild. Sometimes I think I over discipline him to make people happy. I wish I could go back in time and handle it differently. Those mean comments from strangers hurt. It was real life so I couldn’t just delete them like on social media. What I did say to those strangers when they told me my kid was a brat, needed a spanking, or asked me if I ever wanted to kill him (yes someone actually said that), was ,”That’s why God gave him to me instead of you.”

My autistic son would also make people feel they could comment about our parenting of him. I will say he fired his aide when doing school at least twice a day.😅

I raised an ADHD son in the 1980’s. I can not tell you how many people blamed me for being a bad parent while we did tutors, therapies, home training etc all while getting no sleep as he did not sleep. Eventually we found a medicine that helped him sleep and focus in school but his childhood was a long haul with little understanding or help from other parents. I can tell you that a “brat”is a child who knows better but is spoiled by using bad behavior to get what they want. That would never happen in my house or in yours. You are a A plus parent and so is Shawn. Consider yourself a role model for good parents. Aldo I am giving you a HUG!! 😉❤️🙏

I have taught young children for many years and have helped to raise 7 children and I know a Brat when I see one. Rebecca is definitely not a Brat! All your children come across as smart and well behaved. Good Job!
I don’t have any kids and can sometimes be intolerant of kids compared to others but I have always thought your kids seemed so well behaved, mindful, and thoughtful. I can’t believe folks would say Rebekah is not well behaved especially for her age. She just goes with the flow and seems to require so little. I think she’s wonderful for her age. I literally smile at the end of every video with her sweet "Bye!". 🥰 I was a preschool teacher for about 25 years & just love those ages. I don't understand why some people feel so free to leave hurtful comments on RUclips. I had an assistant teacher who would "jokingly" tell the infants that they were spoiled.😯 I told her (nicely) that I didn't want to hear that. I could imagine being a parent & hearing that said to my child. 😢 On a happier note...I'm so happy that you all got to splurge on some special treats for your family. What fun! Janice since I have been a subscriber to your channel I have watched you take to heart both positive and negative comments I have seen how upset you get with negative comments and your replies are always thoughtful and kind I am glad you are taking the response to this comment the way you have. Your channel shows a happy healthy family and educational your savings video are always great. At age 73 I remember a time when with any family in public eye the rule was children are off limits. To this day even with you tube channels and all the social media accounts that this rule should apply. You are much kinder than I could have been. I could not comment earlier about anything other than the grocery haul. But I wanted to slip back in to say that we understand how you were feeling Janice. The things that people would say to our grandson and his wife about our great-grandson Ollie were sometimes very very thoughtless and ill informed. Our Ollie is non-verbal autistic. When he was three, any place where there were lots of people and lots of sounds could be painful and overwhelming until he could put his sound reduction headphones on. People who didn’t understand would say horrible things, to his mother in particular. Even though we realized that some did not understand, it was hurtful.
Our Ollie has grown into a smart and successful student, and most importantly, a loving big brother to a little sister who adores him! These two communicate with each other just as well as siblings who both speak. And, it turns out that our Ollie’s intellect is actually quite a bit above average. We are proudest of his heart. He is a kind and loving little boy, who continues to overcome any obstacle.
Janice, I hope you are feeling better. People sometimes don’t think, as you have pointed out. We really hope you are feeling better. Our elder cat TJ says to tell you about how he loves to sit with me while I watch your channel!

I am a mother of 4 ADHD boys and have experienced the ugliness of others opinions. My children are grown or nearly grown and are happy and healthy. ALL of my children have learned to be very productive members of society because I took the time to patiently teach them. Nobody has the right to lay their opinion on you and the way you choose to raise your very sweet well behaved 3 yr old. The goal is to raise them to be happy healthy members os society. I believe kids should be seen and heard that’s how they experience the world and guides a parent on areas that need improvement, Sham on the person who felt comfortable enough to have an opinion on a family the see only in recordings and not close personal friendships with.

Janice, Rebekah certainly isn't THAT word. She is a normal, happy, funny, always-on-the-go 3 year old and a joy to watch. How and when you discipline your children is up to you and Shawn and it shouldn't be done to embarrass the child on camera. Your children are polite, respectful, well mannered and a good testimony to the time you and Shawn have invested in teaching them to be good, honest and responsible people with the love of God in their hearts. here is a tip for food storage ie flour etc become friends with bay leaves and put with the food in same container as food the bay leaves do not give flour sugar etc flavor but repels insects naturally

@@ozarkfamilyhomestead thank you for the heart .. i get mine at local amish store which is also a touristy attraction 0.120 pounds are $4.88 but a little goes long way and its safe pets kids etc and well you can cook with them too . i usually put four to six in ten pounds food mix it in . works great . ( dry storage food ) ie flour granulated sugar rice etc . also could use oatmeal cream of wheat noodles anything dry i never tried brown sugar i am sure would be mess as brown sugar so moist .

I homeschool and homestead as well and personally get treated a little differently within my community just for that. Not many around me do this. I find so much comfort and wisdom watching your channel. I praised God when yall mentioned Abigail getting saved! My husband and I have been watching your channel almost from the beginning. We are impressed so much by how kind, smart, respectful and hard working your children are. Rebecca is just a "baby girl" and she is not a "brat". I have seen "brats" and I certainly know the difference. Your children are also very kind to each other and especially to Rebecca. I have seen many times she has been held and petted. Your family is an inspiration to us all. I can only hope that I am as good a mother, grandmother and great grandmother with my "Kiddos". Rebecca is NOT a brat! She's a normal 3 year old learning things and pushing limits every day, that's how we all learned things. I think correcting her on a video would be inappropiate, you're doing the best for HER! And SHE'S the little one you should be watching out for. If I knew then how to talk with my children like you and mommybear2many do my very much loved children would be happier well adjusted adults today. Luckily as I had more I learned a lil better. That was my logic. I just felt like it was relatable to most people. Also, there are numerous families that I know in real life that use Walmart as a "one stop shop" out of convenience (which I totally understand and don't fault them one bit.) 💕
@@ozarkfamilyhomestead we one stop shop at Walmart because it’s local to us and they deliver. If we had the same stores we would probably shop around but Walmart is our cheapest option. That being said my mom and I love your content and love watching the kids and you and Shawn. It’s nothing like the life we live but it’s so interesting. We watched your duck hatching video yesterday and it was so wonderful. That’s not something i would have seen in my daily life. Thank you for sharing!

Oh my!! Such hurtful things to be said about your dear family. I cried to hear this and I am sorry this happened to you. Having just come in from spending the day with my only child who turned 37 today and my soon to be three year old grandlove, it just made me feel sad that someone would be so careless with their words. Toddler years are so short and precious...these loves are growing and learning and share their excitement about their surroundings!! It's like seeing the world through another set of eyes!!! Rebecca is a normal toddler doing what a toddler does!! You have a beautiful family and I thank you for sharing them with us!

Rebecca is not a brat, and I appreciate Janice's honest response. I also appreciate, Janice, that you do not humiliate your children by disciplining them on camera. The children are so cheerfully helpful and polite, it's obvious they are disciplined with love. I'd love to see a video on how you and Shawn go about that.
