I agree with you 100% on Mad Max being one of the most underrated games. It is a master piece. It isnt a rip-off of any game and has many unique open-world mechanism. Its story/campaign is very heart touching. Sad to see that it didnt sell well and subsequently we never saw a sequel.
@DRIS Restrictive software=limited games for better controllability Not really a bad thing though as most computers like PCs don’t even get the daily dozens of games offered by the gaming consoles
Gotta give it time. The chip just came out and developers might be too skeptical on whether or not to port their games, due to the uncertain potential of the gaming market of the ARM-based chips.
Civ 6 is on the app store. I play it on the M1. I bought it when it came out a few years ago and it has transitioned just fine over the years. I'll repeat, Civ 6 is on the App store and i play it via direct download from the app store on my M1 Mac mini
Unfortunately, the Civ 6 app store version only supports multiplayer with other Mac users. However, if you get Civ 6 on Steam then you'll be able to play multiplayer with Steam Windows users as well.
I’d love Apple Silicon native content, and I bought Resident Evil: The Village, even though I am not into horror games, to support AAA gaming on Apple Silicon. I have gotten into gaming in my middle age, my solution is GeForce Now. Links to your Steam account and you don’t even have to download the game, if it is in your library it just works and you get full ultra ray tracing and get a GeForce RTX 4080 Again, I would prefer native Apple Silicon Mac gaming but until that day comes…
As much as I am a former pc gamer and now just play on consoles now, it’s good to see that Mac has some games to play if you just want to mess around for a little.
lmfaooo i stopped watching the vid like 1 second after hearing his voice and im about to look for a diff vid. he need to go to a speech therapist or something smh
It looks like the GRID Legends posting on Steam no longer lists Mac support. There is a discussion on Reddit that seems to believe the Mac listing was an earlier error. I'd love for a Mac port and would pick it up day-one .
for anyone feeling nostalgic for the 2000s, wizard101 works via rosetta. They had a graphics update in the recent years and 4k60fps with the new graphics along with yearly updates hold up very well.
Since 2020 my favs have been: 1. Hitman 2. Borderlands 2 3. Dying Light 4. Tomb Raider Series (Original, Shadow, Rise) 5. Batman Arkham City 6. Bioshock 1&2 7. Desperados III 8. Life Is Strange (1, 2) 9. Alien Isolation These all play smoothly at 1080p at medium or high settings on my Late 2015 iMac that is almost 7 years old now! It's been so much fun and I laugh at people who say "Macs can't game". I actually have MrMacRight to thank because it was this channel that got me to realize that gaming was a reality on my Mac. What a fantastic video and channel. I so wish that more FPS and Third Person Shooters were ported to Mac... especially Hitman 2 and 3. I've been playing that entire franchise since the original back in my PC days and it is soooo good.
Great video, thanks! Just received my new Studio Ultra64 and… even if I’ve not plenty of time for gaming, it’s clear that the new Macs should deserve a better support. Potentially Apple might sponsor more of these efforts… Gaming age ranges are rising and so… even professionals using a Mac for work are more and more incline to gaming, from time to time: and this is a further reason to move people from PCs to Macs (ecosystem is #1 reason for me, although expensive)
It’s Tim Cook that’s bring the games to m1. a real game develop would make game for both . Remember it was apple that stop Mac Pro running different GPU on intel
bro, you're missing out on a few games... I've been playing all the bioshocks, SOMA, Dying light, SUBNAUTICA (& subzero). I am truly hoping they make NO MAN'S SKY available for mac silicon... i'm about to finish subnautica subzero and don't know what to play next
I always comment on any video about a game that I would like to buy that I won’t be buying it unless it’s offered for Mac. The more of us that request it the greater argument the devs have to offer it to us! Never let the opportunity pass, that’s my approach! 😁
If Apple gets rid of Rosetta 2 the list of games goes from 51 to 3. One reason i'm still very much in doubt about switching to mac, Apple is a bit too trigger happy with deleting backwards compatibility.
^this. I really like going back to old games occasionally and when Apple killed 32-bit compatibility a lot of great games were no longer playable. Valve launched the Steam Store and converted most of their games to Mac (Portal, Half Life, Left for Dead and others) and you can't play any of those on a Mac natively today and Valve will never prioritize Macs again. Sure, there's Crossover, and Parallels and other hacks, but you're far better off spending $900 on an average Windows machines to play these games than an M1 Max plus a bunch of hacky software just to play games on low setting at low frame rates. I love my M1 Max and use it to play a lot of emulated games, but when Rosetta is killed most of this list and most Mac games from the last decade will be nothing more than a memory.
Some time ago in another video you mentioned that Troy Total war on STEAM would get the native build the game has on the App Store, but that has not happened yet, do you have any news on that front?(
I've just played Wasteland 3 two months ago with no issues and pretty good FPS on my 13" Mac M1. In fact, it is Wasteland 2 which has more issues - camera stucks sometimes and I have to re-load from last save.
Borderlands 3 doesn't have cross-play with windows. Windows is on the newer version where the mac has not been updated. Correct me if im wrong but i tried it not to long ago.
Dying Light really got Metal support for Mac?? That's weird: I just bought it, and as soon as I lunch it, it says the game does not support non AMD gpu, and that I might encounter graphic issues. And it's true: unless I set the game in windowed mode, the screen remains totally black, while running in the background. Also, every few minutes the game freezes, forcing me to relaunch it. I contacted the Techland for support, and they basically said that my Mac is not supported, so I just gotta deal with it.... Incredibly frustrating.
thanks for this great video, may I ask if there any difference if I buy the game in steam compare to buy it in App Store ? will there any difference like the compatibility and performance? I'm using M1 Max 16" with quite a lot games in my Steam account, thanks for your reply
If you buy games from App Store, in some cases you will be not able to play with players, that bought that same game from steam. I bought WARHAMMER 1 and 2 from App Store and I was not able to play with most players that have it from steam. Thanks to Feral interactive I was able to get keys and activate WH in the steam😅 So, there is few differents, but I think that in compatibility and performance not that much…
Even if all the Iphone App Store games become available on the Mac App Store, there are quite a few awesome games there. AAA games will always be made for the most abundant hardware on the market. PC with Nvidia or AMD chipsets and Mac (especially the M1 and M2) are probably 0.0001% of the market (and its not even for gaming). I only wish all the 5 years or older games are ported to the silicon / intel Macs. That would revive the older games as well a bit.
I really love to play SeriousSame Fusion Beta 2007 (SeriousSam3 and also the HD-Remakes of Part 1+2 of SSam) Really fun to play on M1. (some minor gfx-glitches, but ok for me)
After watching one of your former videos, I decided to give Amazon's Luna a try and absolutely love it. I am able to play some really great PS games such as Dirt Rally 2 which runs smooth as silk on my MacBook M1 Pro 14". Has anyone else tried it?

Apple should work with Feral to refresh the games for Apple Silicon/Metal and push them via Apple Arcade (with content ratings).
If Apple gets rid of Rosetta 2 the list of games goes from 51 to 3. One reason i'm still very much in doubt about switching to mac, Apple is a bit too trigger happy with deleting backwards compatibility.
