Devin brought together a sick, virtual concert during the quarantine. I'm so glad I attended this! Here's Deadhead, my favorite of the concert. I AM NOT making money from these videos. Do support Devin Townsend and everyone involved in this concert.

The vocals around the 7 minute mark are absolutely phenomenal. Also this video is available in my country now, however I still can't watch Kingdom :(

I wonder if he intended on his voice cracking an entire octave up during the final screams, or if that was just an 'oops, that was cool I guess' moment. Kinda reminded me of his reckless 90's voice.

Can't really tell what's going on there. Sounds like maybe super high overtones, but I'm not sure.

That’s not an octave up, it’s the actual note on the album that he always hits. He just couldn’t get his distortion through on this one.

@@isaaccochran8673 It is most certainly not the note he normally hit there. On the album and in his 2 most famous live shows, RAH 2015 and Plovdiv 2017, he hits an F5. This sounded like the 6th octave to me, something that he hasn't really done since the 90s. It's a very weird vocal passage, but i think it kinda worked. On a side note, i really liked how instead of going back up on "babe", he instead gently lowered it

What leaves me more surprised is how he masterfully managed to go around it, and turn it into something beautiful.

@@lred1383 Good observations, it's really nuts how he's raising the octave through overtones. You can see he's surprised himself and leans into it. This entire concert his voice is a little different - he's singing with a bit more tension and higher larynx, which might explain why this passage (which is in the absolute extremes of his range) turns out so different. Very powerful. Also, going back seamlessly from a full distorted scream to a falsetto note in that "babe" is a testament to the man's innate vocal talents.

I remember I started tearing up when the final vocal section was coming... and then that really high note on the screaming made my jaw drop. Truly a 'holy sh*t' moment. His voice is just unbelievable.
