Hi Darren. I love the way it sounds in these very simple exercises. In my case, I've practiced and practice many long notes. When I was a child and started playing the trumpet it sometimes sounded subtone. My teacher was a classics teacher and this is not what I wanted (I'm a computer ingenieer). Today it is very difficult for me to achieve it. It's as if a part of the air isn't converted into sound. It seems easy but it isn't, at least, it's very difficult for me. And personally it's something I love. When I practice bending, that effect sounds a bit, for example. I think it's just blowing, but sometimes I also use the syllable "tuaf", which was what I played when I was a child trying to play "ta" or "ti". Thank you for your channel, I love it, it is motivating and inspiring, to continue practicing. Greetings from Spain
dB, Interesting, I read once a few years back Hugh Masekela would warm up using a similar approach, I incorporated his approach, similar to yours, in my practice routine. I play the notes starting on C and descend chromatically to F# and play the notes as evenly and for as long I can on one full breath. I will now add to my routine, playing melodies, softly. Much respect TY 🙏
I agree the trumpet is a beautiful instrument
Lenzo!!! 💯 🎺 ❤️
