Greetings AC Family & fellow ant lovers everywhere! I am spellbound by the new waters of Volcania! What do you guys think of our new team of water beasts? What else should we add next? Hope you enjoy this week's extra long and epic video, and if you did, hope you could remember to hit LIKE, leave me a COMMENT, SHARE the video, and SUBSCRIBE (hit the BELL & Select ALL for Notifications Squad) to the channel to join our ever-growing AC Family! Love you, guys! 🙏🌿🐜 Ant love forever! So, about what I asked at the end of the video: What do you guys suggest for names?
I suggest naming the crayfish Blaze! (If it's actually a girl, then Ruby, ant love and aquatic beast love forever♥️) (P.S,if you're reading this then your name suggestion is good as mine)
One of your fish has a very minor infestation of Ich, which is common amongst easily stressed fish like Chili Rasboras. Keep a close eye on that, if the fish continue to stress for any reason, it'll spread rapidly and become devastating.
@@Truthorfib with that amount of space, they should be relatively fine. He definitely should have waited until the Rasboras were healthy before introducing the crayfish, but it's a large enough space that the fish should be alright.
Yeah, I know. Sad but I have my eye on it. Several of them had it and I could see in their bellies that prior to coming to me the fish were medicated. It looks like it is going away. The new tank is helping.
Ants Canada with no shirt , under dim light , working on a terrarium is something I didn’t know we needed. It adds to the ascetic and the wild music did to .
Can you use a fake mirror glass to avoid the light to pass through and don't alter the mood of the colony? (Hope people upvote this to improve future ant sets)
Try using your sump tank as a grow out for more plants! They'd pull out more nitrates from the waters and you'd have a steady supply to replace any in the main palladium that get eaten by the crayfish and shrimp.

This channel is finally starting to feel how it was pre-COVID. I can't wait to see it grow even further now that you have that huge space to play in. Keep up the great work.
At 20:42 look on the glass (right side) and you'll see a small white dot, that's a Nerite snail egg‼️ Nerite eggs only hatch in brackish water though.. so you might want to take that female back and trade it for a male‼️ Otherwise it will continue to glue little white eggs all over the place and since it's fresh water they won't hatch and will just rot away 😬 Pretty much nothing eats them. You can scrap them off with a razor blade but they always leave behind little white rings regardless lol
Those Rasboras are a beautiful choice for the setup! Once they mature, their vibrant red color will really make the waters of Volcania an eye catcher! Plus, they'll look like little drips of lava swimming around the waters. Barring the minor Ich problem visible on one of them as you put them in, they'll truly look amazing.
I'll never cease to be amazed by the production value of this channel. How your narration ties it all together and makes you feel the emotion of it all. Been away for a little while but this and the first volcania gave me chills just like they use to. Glad to see this channel has been doing so good!!
@aihuazeng7747 it truly is. In my opinion better than most shows and documentaries I've seen made recently. This is one channel that you can clearly tell takes pride in each and every video!
Volcania is rapidly becoming one of my top favorite Ant paludariums. The aquatic beasts, vegetation and the skull prop certainly help establishing a wild ambience!
Yes! Cherry shrimp! No aquatic setup is complete without them, IMO. I sadly had to give up my shrimp tank over the pandemic (they went to a wonderful home, thank goodness!), so I'm happy to be able to relive some of that experience with the AC family :)
AntsCanada has certainly come a long way from the set up he had for his Fire ant 6 years ago. its been a joy to watch the content evolves from multiple connected nests to a beautifully crafted Paludarium that looks very self sustaining. Amazing work look forward to each update on all the colonies and futures ones too!
AntsCanada has come such a long way. I remember first watching this channel all the way back in 2016 in the "Cockaroach Giving Live Birth While Being Devoured By Fire Ants" video and just watching the incredible journey of being a beginner ant-keeper to now creating massive paludariums like this one, just fills my heart. It would be appropriate to name them based on the volcano theme of the habitat. I’d say the fish school should be called the Burning Flow, since they’re Ember Tetras, the snail should be called the Fire Hermit since it’s alone, the shrimp should be called the Cherry Bombs since they’re Cherry shrimp, and the crayfish should be called the Deep One of Volcania, since the ants would probably see them as a mysterious eldritch abomination.

i love this palidarium, as a avid aquarium enthusiast(im average really, but still learning) i loved seeing the addition of cherry shrimp AND Nerite Snails, super awesome build ❤
Thanks for the shout out to Canada with the crayfish! I have been watching your videos for many, many years. Now that I have grandchildren entering my life I am looking to get them hooked on AntsCanada as well. Happy Canada Day from Atlantic Canada!!
Don’t forget to put a source of calcium like seashells to keep the shrimp and possibly the crawfish molting properly. This source helps them molt properly.
Wow. I've been watching your channel for years and this episode is easily one of the best that I've seen. It's all simply stunning! I really hope this ecosystem works out, the contrasting environments combined with the stunning vibrant colors are just incredible! The shadowed back shot size comparison around 11:30 was SO impressive and very tastefully artsy! I really had no clue just how enormous this microcosm actually was and I'm all in on seeing how this turns out. The crayfish is just too cool, I had two as a kid and one of them immediately killed a fish once introduced to the environment... so 🤞🤞 it will turn out to be the more chill kind!
When I was a little I was OBSESSED with Gerald Durell Books. I re-read them again and again, one of my favorite play was made a zoo with woodblock and animal figures, and I was sure I going to be a forester. But the life has another plan for me, and the childhood dream was go away. But here, in your channel I feel just the same awe and heartwarm. Thank you for giving me my few good memory.
You’re a genius, Mikey! I love how you combine different communities of creatures. I hope you have more aquariums and water worlds like the ones you have in your condo. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and creativity!
It will be interesting when he will moult and becomes larger and larger. Such a nice lad. I hope we can name this crayfish as a community. Something that suits his personality like **Urras the Gentle** (Urras means *trust* in Gaelic)
Wonderful video, yet again! ❤ i like the idea of a chilli pepper theme for the aquatic animals, maybe things like: Alma, Paprika, Aleppo, Poblano. And for the Crayfish Canadian theme: Chuck after Chuck Hughes sauces//Fable after Fable Diner's line of sauces, they're based in Vancouver.
The crayfish I've observed in the wild in Lake Huron are definitely more dedicated scavengers than hunters. Very rarely I'll see one with a small shiner in its claws but more often than not they're happier to just sift through the rocks and eat whatever they come across. That could just be because there is an abundance of food in the shallows and there is no need to actively hunt though
AMAZING VIDEO. LOVING the latest wave of tanks. All of this has been a long time coming. Been waiting for this since the ant house was first announced!
Great vid it would be nice to name the crayfish Kavoradis or Karkinos, Karkinos being a name for an giant crustation in mythology that was kind of like the Hydras sidekick
Amazing, i love this new members of the Antiverse, i cannot remember the name of the previous Crayfish (I know ive seen one on this channel!) a photo of the front of the terrarium would be an aweasome wallpaper. So for names: Crayfish: Kingler Shrimp: Gamba Collective Snail: Al (For Al Neri) Fish: Raspberri Club
No1 Antscanads. Your love for ants is really touching and every being in the Antiverse is lucky to have you as their owner. I’ve been a member of the AC Family since 2020. Also for a name for the crayfish i recommend Candy as red and white are the colours of that.
So excited to see the “lava” flow between the canyons in the volcano when the crimson knights boom in population. I can imagine it looking like a real volcanic explosion coming soon!
Ohh that would have been so cool. Unfortunately, axolotls are very delicate aquatic animals, and (especially considering the gravel) would not be able to thrive in this kind of environment. That's my opinion at least...
I think there are enough water beasts in Volcania’s waterways for now. I feel if we add anymore with will become over complex especially since there is a crayfish now in the waters and he is a top predator who needs lots of space. Perhaps some more snails for the future unless the breed out of control but that’s all I recommend.
Might want to get another snail, for your current cleaner to potentially breed with. There wouldn't be many snail-lets; between the shrimp and the crawfish especially, there wouldn't be a lot. But it would help keep your carnivorous micro-moat monsters fed~ And how many times do I need to say it, AC? _Use RED lights to view your ants!_ They can't see that wavelength of light, so you can peep into the nest without freaking them out.
Your back view in 1:42, plus the line "your creator of worlds" just makes me think you look like one of the "Engineers" in Prometheus (the movie). lol. Good job such a joy to watch your videos.
Hi AntCanada I have some name suggestions that you may like The Cherry Shrimp can be called Bigaroon which means a group of sweet cherries which I would think would be appropriate The Crayfish can be called Sequoia which means it is a gentle giant and can also mean redwood especially the California redwood which seems very fitting. The Chili Rasboras should be called Fire sparks because their colour seems similar to a fire and can turn to various colours Finally Nerite Snail should be called Algafred because he eats algae and I can’t think of another sutitble name Thank you for your time for reading this Ant love forever❤❤❤.
You have a huge gift of catching attention and sharing and putting tons of effort into your videos and colony homes. Soo I think the crayfish should be named Barry. Yeah.
It is all looking wondrous and well planned out. I’m glad to see the Cherry Shrimps I suggested (along with many others I’m sure), as well as the school of fishes (though I had suggested Neon Tetras for their similar behaviours). The Canadian Crawfish is adorable. I would call the fish “The Sparks” because they float against the darkness like sparks across the night sky from a campfire. The Snail could be named “Lava, for his generally slow movement. The Crawfish is difficult as we have only seen him on moving in day…but maybe call him “Lucifer” since he is the King of the deeps (which I think of as Pele’s Pool). The Cherry Shrimps could be named “The Fireballs” for their quick and constant motion.🖤🇨🇦
The amazing feat those ants climbing that mountain is the same for us just they can run up it but the must still feel the ruff terrain and steep incline in a small scale ant world
The only thing that would make your videos better is if they were longer. Thank you for all the hard work you do to not just entertain us but also educate us.
Thank you so much for entertaining us with such a great video. It was so cool and great and make us always waiting for the next video from this great channel. I think The Karathen will be great for the crayfish's name. And also I spot out good suggestion from others comment, such as Vermilion for the other troop. Anyway thanks again for such a great video. Wish you the best on your life and the channel. Well done AC.
I'm always watching your videos as an intellectual curiosity, and I think you're getting closer and closer to a sustainable ecological model. I like to work with enclosed aquatic systems, and one of the things I work closely with which you have brushed upon is carrying capacity. When the ants stop putting their trash into the trash pile, it probably means the ability for the trash pile to accept new trash has depleted. This is unavoidable with infinite growth over finite space, and if every creature were it's own checks and balances the Queen would simply stop reproducing. However, that's not how it works. The checks and balances take place as interspecies competition more often than not, and so we need foodwebs which are essentially pathways for the nutrients in food to carry energy from photosynthesizers to consumers. All your food web really needs is a sustainable population of primary consumers (think shredders, such as grasshoppers to eat plants and become food for the ants). Biodiversity may help here. The second thing you will want is terrestrial rooting plants and a way for nitrate heavy water to make it to those roots. They could be aquatic, but having the ants eat the primary consumers would be more difficult, so I feel like a way to pump moat water into the terrestrial plant area occasionally would make the most sense. I would love to collaborate to make an enclosed ant ecosystem some day.
A crayfish.... wow.... when you said crayfish, you reminded me of the time I used to own a "Great, Big, Gigantic" Crayfish years ago. Thanks for the nostalgia there, @AntsCanada. That "Great Big Gigantic" Crayfish brought back many memories for me.
As someone who is super into aquascaping and tanks I absolutely LOVVEEE what you have added and actually chili rasboras are my all time favs -! They do brighten up in a good environment once they setlle : D Crayfish are notorious for chompin on anything unluckily enough to get caught- so it'll be interesting to see how it goes Im not sure what the 'tank' parameters would be- but if the chili's end up dying off I would totally recommend some livebearers if there's enough space- they will breed and have baby small fry which will be extra food for crayfish and help keep population going ideally
@AntsCanada, AC comunity or basically anyone who is reading this comment and knows some stuff about ants in the UK. I have 4 Ant Queens that I caught yesterday when it was (at least 1 of the ant species) nuptial flight and I had two questions about them I want to ask: 1. Are there multiple days of ant nuptial flight perhaps depending on what species the ant Queens are? 2. It gets pretty hot here in the UK so I was wondering where you'd suggest I keep the Ant Queens during their early stages? Love your videos, they're so helpfull, inspiring and informative!! :D Thank you!
I love the new Vivarium but I hope we still get updates on the other setups like this one! Your creativity and artistry is amazing! I love all of these creations so much , my escape from my boring corporate job is watching these and daydreaming of creating my own
@AntsCanada.... you give each and every episode such a thrilling story waiting to unfold and its very calming and entertaining to watch....always looking forward to the next episode
Last week I encountered an active ant trail coming into my kitchen through a poorly sealed door. At first I was worried and couldn’t understand why they were coming in. But because of this channel I then realised they must be trailing because of some kind of open food, I searched the kitchen and found they’d trailed all the way from outside for some olden syrup. But instead of panic and calling over the landlord I used my ants knowlage to put a closer source of food into a little bottle cap and used some powers on the door to stop them from being able to get in as easily and a week later after moving the food source further from the door I now have no more ant problems! I feel so happy to have been able to use my ant knowledge 😂
High caliber creation. I loved the narration and the ahem to ant aluminum guy 😂 Funny i just saw one of his videos today. Fascinating but with mixed feelings. If you are getting rid of the ants anyway why not preserve their hard work like a work of art 😊
Crayfish names - Cray Matter (Ben 10 Reference) - Maple or Canuck (Red and white colours, canfian flag) - GiGi (GG, Gentle Giant because it seems uninterested in attacking the other animals) - Ruby - Bear
Hi Kuya Mikey, I love your videos and have followed for many years now! Your channel and business inspired me to begin studying arthropods and taught me how to source nuptial queens successfully! I hope to see some more videos of the wildlife in your province as well! I once visited the PI and was amazed at the diversity of life and would love to see more of it! Thank you for your videos!
I have some names u could take.. Crayfish - The Aquatic Viking of Volcania Cherry shrimps - The Aquatic League of Volcania snail(i forgot his name) - The Bringer of peace Chili Rashboras - The southern Knights of Volcania thats all i got to say tbh
I always find it amazing to see these people forming aquatic habitats. I don't know if I could ever do something like that. I mean, the cycling, the month long wait before adding more life to it, the acclimation, the formation of a food web to sustain it, the salinity if you're talking a saltwater aquarium, it just seems all overwhelming to me. That's why I strayed away from fish and anything that needed water to live in when I started getting into exotic pets was because I felt like it would be an impossible task for me to handle everything that goes into it. I still feel like it's at the very least a much harder task than caring for an animal that is 100% terrestrial.
Add amano shrimps @AntsCanada very good algae and decaying matter eater in aquariums! crayfish would actually prefer to eat fish than dead stuff so i'm not sure if those fish will be ok...

I always love these massive builds. You are very talented and imaginative
You’re a genius, Mikey! I love how you combine different communities of creatures. I hope you have more aquariums and water worlds like the ones you have in your condo.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and creativity!
I love when he adds sea beast to ant set-ups!
It will be interesting when he will moult and becomes larger and larger. Such a nice lad. I hope we can name this crayfish as a community. Something that suits his personality like
**Urras the Gentle** (Urras means *trust* in Gaelic)
Gary(snail), Mr crabs (crawfish) and all of the shrimp are named Jerry, the fish are lemmings
3:08 It’s so cool that many ants are going down towards their meal and a single fire ant is going up the volcano to spread the news.
I love the chili idea!
Everything you create is so intricate and thoroughly, brilliantly designed. You are such an inspiration, thank you Mikey!
This is one of my favorite videos ever from you! Thank you very much for bringing us along on your adventure AC!!!!
Thank you for posting every week it brings me joy to see you post. Keep up the good work❤❤❤
You are so welcome! Thanks for watching and supporting the ants. Ant love forever!
@@AntsCanadaAnts love forever!
@@AntsCanada thanks to your content I no long a fear ants
Great vid it would be nice to name the crayfish Kavoradis or Karkinos, Karkinos being a name for an giant crustation in mythology that was kind of like the Hydras sidekick
I don't think I've seen an underside view of a snail like that. Pretty neat!
Amazing, i love this new members of the Antiverse, i cannot remember the name of the previous Crayfish (I know ive seen one on this channel!) a photo of the front of the terrarium would be an aweasome wallpaper.
So for names:
Crayfish: Kingler
Shrimp: Gamba Collective
Snail: Al (For Al Neri)
Fish: Raspberri Club
No1 Antscanads. Your love for ants is really touching and every being in the Antiverse is lucky to have you as their owner. I’ve been a member of the AC Family since 2020. Also for a name for the crayfish i recommend Candy as red and white are the colours of that.
So excited to see the “lava” flow between the canyons in the volcano when the crimson knights boom in population. I can imagine it looking like a real volcanic explosion coming soon!
Maybe adding a baby axolotl for your next aquatic animal? 👀
That us a bad idea
But it would help keep your carnivorous micro-moat monsters fed~
And how many times do I need to say it, AC? _Use RED lights to view your ants!_ They can't see that wavelength of light, so you can peep into the nest without freaking them out.
Crayfish :- Crayton
Snail :- Garry
Shrimp :- Monoliths (large single stone)
Fish :- Scorians (volcanic cinder)
Last two reference volcania
Your back view in 1:42, plus the line "your creator of worlds" just makes me think you look like one of the "Engineers" in Prometheus (the movie). lol. Good job such a joy to watch your videos.
Hi AntCanada I have some name suggestions that you may like
The Cherry Shrimp can be called Bigaroon which means a group of sweet cherries which I would think would be appropriate
The Crayfish can be called Sequoia which means it is a gentle giant and can also mean redwood especially the California redwood which seems very fitting.
The Chili Rasboras should be called Fire sparks because their colour seems similar to a fire and can turn to various colours
Finally Nerite Snail should be called Algafred because he eats algae and I can’t think of another sutitble name
Thank you for your time for reading this Ant love forever❤❤❤.
This man is the reason why some of your friends love nature suddenly,❤
You have a huge gift of catching attention and sharing and putting tons of effort into your videos and colony homes. Soo I think the crayfish should be named Barry. Yeah.
Absolutely Love the concept of this environment, Fire Ants flowing down a smoking Volcano, that is just brilliant.
I love how extra you have started getting while also keeping things natural and subtle. Keep up the good work Mikey (hope I spelled that right).
The amazing feat those ants climbing that mountain is the same for us just they can run up it but the must still feel the ruff terrain and steep incline in a small scale ant world
Even though I'm watching your videos for 3 years now, I'm never surprised to see me amazed yet again by your love to animals.💚💚
The only thing that would make your videos better is if they were longer. Thank you for all the hard work you do to not just entertain us but also educate us.
i think there long enough.
Wow!
I actually recommended the cherry shrimp and nerite snail and the crayfish!!!
Looking forward to watching this episode 🤩🤩
Same ❤
I think the name Gabriel really encapsulates the friendliness we’ve seen in the crayfish so far.
Of course its friendly xd its canadian at heart and proudlynsport the color😊
A crayfish.... wow.... when you said crayfish, you reminded me of the time I used to own a "Great, Big, Gigantic" Crayfish years ago. Thanks for the nostalgia there, @AntsCanada. That "Great Big Gigantic" Crayfish brought back many memories for me.
As someone who is super into aquascaping and tanks I absolutely LOVVEEE what you have added and actually chili rasboras are my all time favs -! They do brighten up in a good environment once they setlle : D
Crayfish are notorious for chompin on anything unluckily enough to get caught- so it'll be interesting to see how it goes
Im not sure what the 'tank' parameters would be- but if the chili's end up dying off I would totally recommend some livebearers if there's enough space- they will breed and have baby small fry which will be extra food for crayfish and help keep population going ideally
I love the beauty of the ants
Definitely BIG DOGGIE 💯👣
Pleaseee call the crayfish “Crayon”
First
🎉🎉
🎉
Yep
Yes you are! Sometimes I come early and comment ‘first!’ but when I refresh it, it turns out I was no where near first lol
When he isn’t looking after his ants, AC is in the gym lifting like one. Gods dam bro you look ripped.
@AntsCanada, AC comunity or basically anyone who is reading this comment and knows some stuff about ants in the UK. I have 4 Ant Queens that I caught yesterday when it was (at least 1 of the ant species) nuptial flight and I had two questions about them I want to ask:
I used to have pet crayfish and cherry shrimp. I miss them so much. Thanks for getting them. The crayfish have such unique personalities. ❤
I feel so happy to have been able to use my ant knowledge 😂
i love your terrariums. i dont have the patience to set em up, but i always come here to see your amazing set ups.
Wow, this is incredible! I can't wait to see what you do with the Leviathans!!!
Lampeye tetras would be a good addition too, because of their cute glowing eyes😊
The fish whisperer....and nature knows exactly what to do
Am new to this channel but I have to say. I really like the content. And love your enthusiasm so keep it up
11:42 woah! You look ripped!😂
High caliber creation. I loved the narration and the ahem to ant aluminum guy 😂 Funny i just saw one of his videos today. Fascinating but with mixed feelings. If you are getting rid of the ants anyway why not preserve their hard work like a work of art 😊
Imagine the day that MD Fishtanks does a a collaboration with Ants Canada 🤩
so cool i love seeing the new water beasts exploring
the dino skull was a perfect addition - i love your videos
Best video from ANTSCANADA 😅😅😅
When u added the shrimp h2o drops on the outside, it gave a microscopic view of the moss! Awesome!
It’s fun to see all these new animals getting along
Crayfish names
- Cray Matter (Ben 10 Reference)
- Maple or Canuck (Red and white colours, canfian flag)
- GiGi (GG, Gentle Giant because it seems uninterested in attacking the other animals)
- Ruby
- Bear
Hi Kuya Mikey, I love your videos and have followed for many years now! Your channel and business inspired me to begin studying arthropods and taught me how to source nuptial queens successfully! I hope to see some more videos of the wildlife in your province as well! I once visited the PI and was amazed at the diversity of life and would love to see more of it! Thank you for your videos!
I have some names u could take..
Crayfish - The Aquatic Viking of Volcania
Cherry shrimps - The Aquatic League of Volcania
snail(i forgot his name) - The Bringer of peace
Chili Rashboras - The southern Knights of Volcania
thats all i got to say tbh
this is such a cool setup! cant wait to see more!
I'm fairly new to your channel but I'm enthralled! The production value is amazing and the story line never fails to draw me in.
Welcome aboard!
Add amano shrimps @AntsCanada very good algae and decaying matter eater in aquariums! crayfish would actually prefer to eat fish than dead stuff so i'm not sure if those fish will be ok...
for the crayfish id say name it Valentine, after Canada's first tank(that they built anyway).
