Hey sister! I just wanted to let you know that I found your videos when I was also suffering with MTD. I was only 17 and working with insurance so at the time I had no doctors or specialists who validated me or helped me whatsoever. I remember watching your videos where you were talking about how you were working at a school with children and you had to literally use a straw to get through talking. How you would eat cough drop after cough drop in agonizing pain and you would come back home crying in pain and feeling defeated. I too felt that way, I completely became isolated, and I too am a singer so it broke my heart not only to not be able to speak, but especially to sing. I've since healed so much, spiritually too. It was actually the beginning of me just waking up to who I truly was. It was a blessing in disguise. It's so beautiful seeing how much you've blossomed. These videos are amazing! Please keep up the work sister! So inspiring ❤ I also just wanted to ask If you've ever considered doing these kind of workshops at festivals? You would be so great for that! Peace and love ❤❤❤

    Hey Liz!!
Can I ask you a personal question? Have you ever gone on COMPLETE voice rest for a few days or over a week? The reason I ask is because I "injured" my vocal cords from coughing too much last month. I've spoken with two speech pathologists who say this is not necessary. However, my voice sounds very rough. I'm going to put myself on voice rest for the next seven days....I'm scared I'll permanently damage my cords if I don't.
Just wondering if you've done it and if it helped significantly. Have an amazing weekend.

Hey I’ve gone on vocal rest as well but it didn’t help me. I would listen to the speech pathologists. Often we have a lot of fear surrounding our voices, I understand this. But actually retraining the voice with exercises is more beneficial then vocal rest, especially if the speech therapists are telling you this. ❤️

Its so frustrating. I am diagnosed with MTD and functional dysphonia but the speech pathologists says she doesn't know how to help me and tries to write it off as 'acid reflux' but i DON'T have that. It's purely functional: when i start using my voice it begins to hurt, even doing sovt exercises. If i stop using my voice and let it rest the pain goes away. Its 100% a functional problem but there is not 1 speech pathologist who has helped me out? What should I do know? Talking a little just hurts so much and no one can help me. Why do speech pathologists even exist then?

Hey Im so sorry! So frustrating!! Try this free pain program to see if it helps.. keep trying different avenues until you find results. www.tmswiki.org/forum/painrecovery/ this program helped me.. it can't hurt, worth a shot. Yah sometimes SLPS can be disappointing.. I had to fire mine and go to Mass General Hospital to receive good quality care.

@@LizBills thank you for your answer and help I appreciate it! I will try that free program. I have had 2 speech pathologists who couldn't help me. I asked the hospital if they could help me there but they can't, our hospitals only do research and give advice (i live in Europe), so now i have to find a 3rd one... Its so frustrating because i really cant function like this, i have this problem for almost 10 years, speaking for a couple of minutes hurts extremely, let alone singing. But i know its a pure technical problem but yeah they write me off as 'acid reflux' because no one knows how to help me 😑. Thanks again i really like your videos( and your singing!!) and keep watching them!
