In fact this movie had quite a few deleted scenes, and in general it is a disturbing and quite disturbing film, the fact that it has almost no soundtrack makes it worse
One of my absolute favourite films from way back in the days when I was a kid still hunting through local video stores to see if there was a Godzilla VHS that I hadn't seen yet.
Back when I realized I only had a few movies to watch before I had officially seen them all, THIS was the last one left and it was hard to track down. Those were the days.
@@ShadeMeadows about the hedorah, it can fly, it can shoot acid from its eye, use its slimy body (even on Godzilla himself), it can fire a red beam from its eye, it'll evolve, cannot be harmed whenever it is attacked (even by Godzilla).
I loved this one as a kid, but it's very creepy as an adult. Don't watch it at night. Also, I remember crying over the fact that my mom read online the kid actor in this movie wasn't doing any more films lol
I remember seeing this as a kid on the Creature Double Feature on Channel 56. If you’re from the Boston area and grew up in the 70s and 80s then you know. Hedorah was also called the Smog Monster. I believe that was it was called in the US. One of their weirdest Godzilla movies. A more modern updated version would be cool to see in a newer Godzilla movie.
Speak for yourself. The flying scene is the best part of the movie. They shot a scene where Godzilla ran after Hedorah and one where he flew after Hedorah but couldn't decide which to use. After watching the sequence with both versions, it was Ishiro Honda who told Yoshimitsu Banno, "Use the flying one."
@@ConstantineFurman In an interview, Yoshimitsu Banno said, that the flight-scene should never be filmed, on nowadays view, (if I remembered right). Tomoyuki Tanaka, the producer of the godzilla-movies was in the hospital during the final work, he didn't have a good feeling when he saw the finished movie. But for me thats okay, the movie is 50 years old now and makes a lot different to the the other godzilla movies, I still really like it.
@@fluxdiver I'm afraid you're mistaken. Effects Director Teruyoshi Nakano's comment on the flying scene was something like "That was outrageous. We shouldn't have done that." However, Banno himself was proud of the flying scene up until he died (and even had Godzilla flying again in his unmade "Godzilla 3-D to the Max" project that eventually morphed into the 2014 American movie). There are no interviews where he talks badly about it. He was especially proud of the cheers from the children when the scene played and when kids subsequently played with their Godzilla toys in the flying pose.
I think it's mainly because fear is highly subjective and some people don't find hedorah's design intimidating. I can see the fear factor in it's design but it doesn't scare me that much, more so it's powers and negative effect on the environment is more scary for me. Then there's the fact the movie itself is goofy and dark at the same time, so it feels conflicted on what it wants to be.
Probably my second favorite of the 70's Godzilla Films after Terror of Mechagodzilla, then Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, then Godzilla vs. Gigan and finally Megalon is last
I think what they mean is that Hedorah can strike without you seeing him coming. In Japan, if you see a ninja, they aren't doing their job properly. Hedorah's official nickname is now "Kogai Kaiju Hedora" (Pollution Monster Hedorah).
The groovy musical sequence, the interstitial pleas from children to save the Earth from pollution, and one of the more repulsive transforming eldritch horrors Godzilla ever fought make this an unusual one, for sure.
This is not in any version of the movie. It's an element from another part of the film put into that shot for the trailer. The crowd fleeing is taken from the crowd in the nightclub when Hedorah sludges down the stairs.

the classic Godzilla is bad ass. he got the footwork, boxing moves, wrestler's stance and he could dance too
You meant good instead of bad, why didn't you justify the bad, boy 😂
Don't forget he can fly too
Happy anniversary to the film; 50 years!
Hedorah was like something out of an H.P. Lovecraft nightmare, only with a strong environmentalist message about saving the Earth from pollution.
Def the most unique of all of the Godzilla movies. I love this one!
Haruo Nakajima as Godzilla was great in this movie.
He was awesome in all his Godzilla performances, also as other kaiju such as Rodan '56, Gaira the Green Gargantua, and Varan! May the legend R.I.P. 🙏
God this movie is a banger. One of Godzilla's best outings and I will die on that hill.

I still feel bad for the poor cat who got slimed in the movie at the disco scene :(
