original Mechagodzilla has such a cool and unsettling design. King Shiisa is great and deserves more love. Even the music in this one is great. Just a total classic.
@@ConstantineFurman TOHO made the decision to let the franchise rest because they couldn't compete with TV. In fact, the entire movie industry around the world couldn't compete. So, the 1970s were mostly about TV franchises like Ultraman and other Anime, versus movies. Especially Godzilla movies. This is why Godzilla vs. Megalon was such a financial failure and had obvious Ultraman elements in an effort to get kids to the theaters. It didn't fail in the sense it wasn't profitable. It was an executive decision to let big G rest until he could be brought back with some distance between him and the 13 films that had preceded him... Just like after 1998's Godzilla disastrous outing they waited 16 years to bring him back in 2014.
@@PLAYER_42069 " It didn't fail in the sense it wasn't profitable." Which 'it' are you referring to? "Terror of Mechagodzilla" or "Godzilla vs. Megalon"? Because neither of them were profitable. "Megalon" did the poorest of the entire series at that point... and then "Terror of Mechagodzilla" did even worse and remained the biggest bomb of the series until "Godzllla: Final Wars" finally dethroned it. "Just like after 1998's Godzilla disastrous outing they waited 16 years to bring him back in 2014." Er, Godzilla was back the very next year in 1999's "Godzilla 2000 Millennium." Also, why are you writing "Toho" in all caps? It's not an acronym.
@@ConstantineFurman actually city on the edge of battle became the lowest grossing godzilla movie in history. Final wars did flop but it didn't do as bad as terror of mechagodzilla which was still the lowest grossing godzilla movie during 2004
@@Kaiju-bm4ts I didn't know about "Edge of Battle" because I don't consider the new plant monster a legitimate Godzilla so I won't watch them or otherwise follow them. So I'm ignorant of those figures. However, you are incorrect about "Final Wars" and "Terror of MG." In 2005 after all was said and done with "Final Wars'" theatrical run, it was the news that "Terror of MG" had finally been dethroned as the least successful film of the series (I also remember when "Megaguirus" came out in 2000 that it had come dangerously close to doing so as well). So I'm afraid wherever you got your information is incorrect. Mine came from reports in Japan at the time. "Final Wars" cost 18 million dollars to make and only brought in 13 million. Terror of MG's budget-to-box office ratio wasn't nearly that bad.
It really is among the best. The pacing is damn near perfect and the characters are great. There's a perfect balance between action and drama and the music sets the mood just right.
BEST GODZILLA MOVIE EVER! Maybe because that one was my first Godzilla movie I saw as a child. But still today I really love this one, great kaiju-action but also the human-plot is very interessting and full of action. In Germany the dubbing has the best voice-actors of its time and when I see other films with that voices, my mind is in this movie here. Funny fact: For some crazy reason Mechagodzilla is called King Kong in the german-version. Also the soundtrack by Masaru Sato is amazing.
Firstly, YES! MY FAVORITE SHOWA EAR MOVIE'S TRAILER (minus 1954 because I mean c'mon), but secondly, this is amazing to see. There are some new scenes, a look at an altered version of the real reveal of Mechagodzilla at 1:43, but at 1:56 we get to see what Showa Era Mechagodzilla's Space Beams were supposed to look like and immediately after what his missiles and clanking sounds may have sounded like. I had always thought of the beams as a solid color spectrum, but the fact it was supposed to be an almost vaporwave dot-matrix of a rainbow spectrum makes it so much more cool!
2:13 is he trying to protect King Caesar by pushing him down so he doesnt get hit? Or is he being annoyed by him standing next to him😂 these movies are so fun to watch, the practical effects are satisfying and showa G and his friends are always so cute and wholesome
My favorite character is the Interpol agent whose name I can't remember. Do you also like him? Also, Mechagodzilla has missiles on his limbs and mouth, a flamethrower (unsused ability), a tail boomerang thing (also unused), and lasers. How powerful
I have a theory about the shot at 1:45 Mabey he was supposed to go back to the fake Godzilla after his fight with Godzilla at night then would have it to fight king Ceasar in then just go back to looking like mecha and you could just say this shot was reversed in this trailer to look like he's turning into mecha however this is most likely not true just a theory tho.
Now this is the real MechaGodzilla! These old Godzilla movies are true classics.

I like how the Island of okinawa gets a casting card for its acting
This is a great entry for (then) Godzilla's 20th Anniversary, and it saved the franchise from going under.
And yet, it still went under after the next movie... That's hardly saving the franchise.

1:43 was never meant for the movie. It was made specifically for the trailer.
One of my favorite Godzilla movies! Thanks for sharing!
Showa Era Mechagodzilla is the best!
I'm starting to realize that this was my very first Godzilla film that I've see as a kid
Nhật bản vẫn luôn đi đầu thế giới về lĩnh vực phim Godzilla.
Let's be honest, we watch these for the deleted scenes
No I watch them for the practical effects and the Japanese footstep audio 😂

Looks like we officially got Godzilla vs King Caesar (SHOWA STYLE) guys
One of my favorite versions of Mechagodzilla
1:44 woah where was that shot in the movie!?
It was probably just for the trailer.
@@knightofarkronia8652 that shot looks weird.
1:45 looks like a scene that isn't in the final movie.
It's just a quick, cheap shot made for the trailer.
メカゴジラすごいね
My favorite movies in the Showa Era:
Godzilla (1954)
Godzilla Raids Again
King Kong vs Godzilla
And this one (1974)
I really like classic science fiction movies of yesterdays when I was a kid.
1:40
Good movie I liked it
I want Jet Jaguar to go up against Mecha Godzilla in a new movie of Godzilla movie
What’s more ridiculous: Space Gorillas or Space Cockroaches?
I legitimately enjoy this movie, though.
The Space COCKroahes
(Not countibg Megalon)
Un cierre decente para la era showa
GODZILLA IS very cool
Love it!
平成に入るとメカゴジラは、闇から光のメカゴジラへと生まれ変わりましたね。😊😊😊😊😊😊
I love godzilla and its sad that neca lost ther license for godzilla
Such a cool Movie~ ;D
El mecha más bonito al igual que kiryu
Anyone have link to soundtrack at 1:40? I don't think it was in movie
No that track is from son of godzilla
@@loganfravel204 Gosh, that's true, how could I not know that?

That was years before Monarch stole the alien technology from Mechagodzilla!
Como le hago para ver peliculas de Godllia
Godzilla* lo puedes verlos en Internet

the footsteps of Godzilla are loud MY EARS AAAAA
Terror of Mechagodzilla is largely responsible for the "goofy" reputation of the Kaiju movies IMO
I love you Godzilla ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
fun shit begins 1:40
A question ¿the Mexican trailer is real?
Godzilla VS Godzilla
No dislike thats good
Omg I forgot how lame that Ceasar character was 😂😂
Yeah helping out godzilla and being a underrated ally to godzilla is "lame"
Lame my ass, He hold on his own against someone like MechaG pretty well
The 2nd Godzilla Movie to be Rated M, The 1st Rated M Godzilla Movie is Mothra vs Godzilla (1964)
I love Godzilla vs mechagodzilla
Mean looking Godzilla
I really like the part where they spoil everything in the movie
when the godzilla battle line toho arrives
MechaGodzilla the first cyborg from Godzilla
