- This follow-up to 1974's "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla" marks the final entry in the Showa Era of films.
** Be sure to turn on CLOSED CAPTIONS for English subtitles **
The 15th film in the series finds Interpol searching for the remains of Mechagodzilla in the waters off of Okinawa, only to discover a new monster instead... the aquatic dinosaur, Titanosaurus! What follows is a fast-paced story consisting of a mad scientist who wishes to unleash Titanosaurus against humanity, the scientist's daughter who has a very strange connection to an all-new Mechagodzilla (here called Mechagodzilla 2), the return of the Simians, and of course, Godzilla to save the day!
While the film does feature the return of the mighty Mechagodzilla, the supporting character of Titanosaurus has become a fan-favorite because of its unique design, roar, and very few collectibles made over the years. This film is the only appearance of the character (well, a brief bit of stock footage appears in 2004's "Godzilla Final Wars"), but the popularity of the monster is evident by its appearance in other forms of media such as video games and comic books.
As mentioned before, this was the final film of the Showa Era and Godzilla would take a nearly 10-year break. It would not be until the character's 30th anniversary that Godzilla would return larger, more powerful, and more terrifying than ever.

Ishiro Honda's final Godzilla film, where intended or not, manages to serve as a fitting farewell to the original era.
Agreed, it's good when something you like ends on a highnote, and this is one of my personal favourites of all the Godzilla films.
Originally Toho had offered Ishirō Honda, the director of the Showa Godzilla films, was going to return as director in the Return of Godzilla (1984) but he declined the offer and instead worked with Akira Kurosawa on his 1985 film Ran, so his assistant director, Koji Hashimoto, who had worked with Honda on King Kong vs. Godzilla (1962), Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster (1964), Frankenstein vs. Baragon (1965) and also Invasion of Astro-Monster, (both 1965) and other films by Ishirō Honda, was hired to direct The Return of Godzilla (1984).
I cried at the ending of this movie as Godzilla went back to the ocean in the sunset. It is a rather fitting ending for not only the Showa era, but also Godzilla getting some rest and relaxation.
Yea. Then he turned heel in godzilla 1984
Same
@@Videogamelover58 that movie ignores the showa era movies and says it's a direct sequel to the 1954 movie.
Last of the showa era, the best era
I agree. As much as I love the 90s and 2000s Godzilla films, nothing will ever beat the classics.
@Cutie Eevee 2 Absolutely, the original is a masterpiece and my favorite movie of all time. It's very realistic and touching, I love it to bits.
Good Monster Fights with Sad human story. Really good movie
Titanosaurus has such a cool roar. Definitely an underrated kaiju in the Toho Godzilla films.
Damn skippy
That roar was used for Ragon the Gillman Kaiju in the Ultraman 1966 series
@@shaneokeley825 Ragon's roar was a Baragon roar
@@shaneokeley825 also, Ultraman 1966 came 9 years before Terror Of Mechagodzilla
@@chadgorosaurus4898 I was mistaken it wasn't Ragon but it was some Kaiju that looked similar to Ragon like it was a remodeled version that had Titanosaurus roar
Second best Showa Godzilla movie. Dead serious.
One of the first Godzilla movies I ever saw, thanks for sharing all of these trailers!
While the first film is undoubtedly the best one, this film, and the previous one, always fight for the #1 spot in my mind.
In no particular order, the best things in a Godzilla movie- Godzilla, Godzilla's roar, the music
I love the Showa era not for just Godzilla movies but samurai yakuza and general Japanese horror and science fiction!
yes, japanese culture during the showa era is wonderful to dig into. yukio mishima in literature, shuji terayama in cinema and theatre, and musical awesomeness with the likes of morita douji and J.A. Seazer. what i like the most about Japan is certainly in the showa era and less about what came later.
There's something very artsy about this film
I honestly perfer this film over Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla. Ishiro Honda's Directing and Akira Ifukube's score makes it feel like the films of the early 60's. Titanosaurus design i love, the compelling story of bitter old man and star crossed lovers, personally the slow, dark feel makes Mechagodzilla more cold and threatening then the wacky and fast paced predecessor.
My absolute favorite of the Showa Era.
This movie is definitely a masterpiece and I do love the darker tone in this movie.
The themes that plays in the trailer is from Godzilla vs. Gigan (1972) and Godzilla vs. The Thing (1964).
Would’ve been cool to hear those themes in the actual movie. I love the Godzilla vs gigan theme.
This is the perfect end to the showa era.
Though keep in mind, chronologically, the end of the Showa era is "Destroy All Monsters."
@@ConstantineFurman Technicaly yes, I still watch the movies in release order. Mostly because there was a DAM reference in Terror of Mechagodzilla, and Godzilla switching between designs.
@@BubbaOtter There is no reference to "Destroy All Monsters" in "Terror of MG." You're referring to Manda I suppose? The footage is merely to show that at some point, Manda has attacked Japan. It's not meant to refer to the events of "Destroy All Monsters," which they were aware (despite what a lot of American fans think) had not happened yet.
@@ConstantineFurman Ye I'm reffering to Manda. I guess I sorta understand what you mean, since stolk footage was a big thing in the 70s. But I still dont understamd how Godzilla changes looks lmao.
@@BubbaOtter it's because he's protayed through different suits but no human Characters bother to question his changes in looks
Godzilla 's entrance in this movie is so freakin awesome!
I’m sorry but Godzilla’s face when he see’s what’s under MechaGodzilla 2’s head is friggin hilarious😂
This was awesome to watch. Thanks for posting it!
love showa godzilla. Definitely the cutest.
one of my favorite movies!!!
One of my favorites! Katsura!
Though really Titanosaurus is more the vocal point of the movie and not Mechagodzilla.
Yes. Mechagodzilla really doesn’t do anything till about two thirds of the way in and I think he got to do more cool stuff in his previous film. I do think he looks cooler in this film tho.
The good times 😔
Man can't wait till this comes out, the CG is so good it looks photo real. Anyone know the release date?
it came out in 1975....

I've always felt that there should have been a least one more Godzilla film in the Showa era between GvsMG and ToMG because it feels weird that Godzilla defeats Mechagodzilla and then in the very next film, he does it again.
新怪獣のチタノザウルスまじで最後泣いちゃう爆破されて
昭和ゴジラシリーズの中でも、ロボット怪獣を代表する、メカゴジラ。正義の味方ゴジラとのバトル、迫力ありました。
This film is underrated in my opinion
Phenomenal
Had this theme stuck in my head recently and it's really making me want to watch the film again! Haha 😄
DYK?: "Terror of Mechagodzilla" is a 1975 Tokusatsu kaijū film directed by Ishirō Honda. It is the fifteenth installment in the Godzilla franchise and the final film in the Showa series (1954-1975). This is the final Godzilla film directed by Ishirō Honda before his death in 1993.
Great way to (at the time) end the franchise and directed by the guy who not only made the first movie, but made more Big G movies than anyone else.
The final showa era movie
It became backwards instead of two good monsters against one evil monster it was one good monster against two evil monsters
When Godzilla would show me his Snake moves in films but not the new ones.
Mecha and tiranosaurus v.s Godzilla is very cool and awesome
La mejor película!!!!
No la supera ninguna❤
This is final film of the showa godzilla era
Suit actors:
Godzilla - Toru Kawai
Mechagodzilla - Kazunari Mori
Titanosaurus - Tatsumi Nikamoto
One of the saddest godzilla movies ever
Nope this is fun movie the sad Godzilla movie was Godzilla Vs destoroyah
@@TMB228 well true but there’s something about this movie that is so dark like it’s disturbing there’s some blood and had a nude scene in the original Japanese cut and the girl dying was really sad and the shot of Godzilla in the ocean during the sunset is a beautiful shot
@@riofanl3638 biollante had a nude scene too from what i remember
Amazing
terror of MechaGodzilla is a movie I can watch

Way Better Than The Same Year’s “Jaws (1975)” and The Previous Year’s “Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)”!
Mechagodzilla
Japan doesn't give a sht about spoilers! all the plot twist are shown in the trailer 😆
Mechagodzilla the King of the villains
What Happens There is a King Kong escapes theme on the terror of Mechagodzilla (1975) trailer?
事実上最後の昭和ゴジラ映画。

Just like King Ghidorah, Mechagodzilla had a sequel of the first movie it appeared in
This is wikizillas 1st kaiju video on titanosaurus
Mecha G!!!
King kong escapes theme on the terror of mechagodzilla.
But why King Kong escapes theme on terror of Mechagodzilla?
Titanosaurus is a mutated sea horse
Agreed..notice how he snorts at times, very horse like imo.
as the last film for the showa era its entertaining but I don't understand why it was a bombed in the box office.
They gave mg a fire ray originally?

The last showa godzilla movie
👍
Now look 👀 in this Last Showa Godzilla Movie 🎥 the Japanese Filmmakers should bring in Minilla (when Godzilla’s Son is Now A Teenager he can fought Mechagodzilla and Titanosaurus) and don’t forget Baragon (Godzilla’s Best Friend who is now teaming up with Godzilla and His Son Minilla to fought against Mechagodzilla and Titanosaurus in this Last Showa Godzilla Movie 🎥 from the 1970’s) in Terror Of Mechagodzilla (1975 Godzilla Movie) so that way Godzilla Minilla and Baragon are going to fought Against Mechagodzilla and Titanosaurus in this Movie! 🎥
再生メカゴジラ。
Well so this was The Last Showa Godzilla Movie 🎥 back in the mid 1970’s when after Godzilla Vs Mechagodzilla (1974 Godzilla Movie) when Mechagodzilla have began to be rebuilt it make it more powerful to defeat Godzilla when Mechagodzilla and Titanosaurus are going to destroyed the city 🏙️ Of Tokyo Japan 🇯🇵 but now Godzilla will take on his two enemies but this time Godzilla should not fought them alone the Japanese Filmmakers should bring in Minilla (when Son Of Godzilla is now a teenager when he turns 18 years old) and Baragon (when he should been officially be in a Last Showa Godzilla Movie 🎥) when Godzilla Minilla and Baragon are going to fight against Mechagodzilla and Titanosaurus in this Last Showa Godzilla Movie 🎥 in Terror Of Mechagodzilla (1975 Godzilla Movie) that was the last Showa Godzilla Movie! 🎥
Not as good as the movie before. The Movie can't choose if it is for kids or adults. The human story is hard and sad for a godzilla-movie from this time but than there are school-kids and Titanosaurus (I like this Kaiju) often acts like a human, which doesn't fit to the rest of the monster action. And why is Godzilla still fighting Titanosaurus after the control system is destroyed and Titanosaurus would be a friendly kaiju? Everything in Godzilla VS Mechagodzilla is bigger and better for me. And of course there are a lot of things sequels often have problems with, like, why don't the cast from the movie before fights against the aliens (they should know what to do) and so on. It's still a good movie and interesting because it's a direct follow-up but I prefer the first Mechagodzilla.
Space Monster Gamera (1980) is The Finale, Not Terror of Mechagodzilla (1975).
