The best part about this iteration is that he's not even "robot version of Godzilla". It's more like "giant artillery battery shaped like Godzilla". They really just threw as many guns, missiles, and lasers on every possible surface they could fit.
In 1974 we had cinematic classic like Chinatown, Godfather Part 2, Blazing Saddles... all of which can't hold a candle to this movie when a giant radioactive dinosaur turns himself into a magnet to fight a robot version of himself.
I fucking love how many missiles and lasers they actually added on to the OG design. Literally covered head to toe. Makes this scene easily the coolest “unloading all weaponry” scene in history.
He does it again in Terror of Mecha godzilla but it's not nearly as memorable... I think is because of the happy music and the histrionic movements of Godzilla and King Caesar
One reason I'm not as big of a fan of the new design in Godzilla vs. Kong; Having him be a better hand to hand fighter than Zilla just kind of seemed "Wrong" when in the past he was the dedicated long range fighter character of the Kaiju world. Sure, it looked kind of clunky and hokey, but that was its APPEAL.
Gotta love at part 1:10 when he just randomly starts shooting the scenery which isn't anywhere NEAR godzilla or King caesar. It's like he's saying "hey, you bush! Yeah, F*** you too!"
So let me get this straight: Alien gorillas wanna take over our planet, they built a giant artillery battery in the shape of their mortal enemy and yet they were flabbergasted that a diety like King Ceasar is coming to aid their greatest threat to their plans. Godzilla plots were wild.
I like how the whole plot of the film revolved around getting king ceasar into action complete with a song to bring him back and he spends the entire fight getting his shit rocked and godzilla has to do most the work.

Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla is (at the time) the best Showa era Godzilla film since Ghidorah The Three-Headed Monster. MechaGodzilla absolutely pushed Godzilla and his allies to their limits over the next 47 years [Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla, Terror of MechaGodzilla, Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla II, Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla, Godzilla: Tokyo SOS, Godzilla vs Kong] (making Godzilla bleed 6 times, breaking Anguirus’ jaw in a bloody display, almost killing King Caesar, and making Rodan die).
