Thank you SO much. I’d have been lost without this video. Been at it 3 hours trying to get rid of some serious lag and you’ve just saved me!!! Thanks a million, really appreciate this video! Keep it up!
Hey man I just wanna say thank you so much for this video! By far the most informative one I could find! You definitely helped out my issues. My pc isnt super low powered it has an i7 and a gtx 1060 but its a laptop and I was still having some frame issues in csgo which is my main game to stream. Your recommended settings fixed that! You should be able to get a decent stream with those specs. Thanks a lot for the help man, is there any way you can do a video for the best recording settings. I've been looking around on RUclips and the only videos I've found tells me what to do but not why I'm doing it. You really explain why I'm doing what I'm doing and that helps a lot.
You may have some trouble getting a fluent stream. 1st thing I’d do is try out StreamElements: p.strms.net/scrapd . It’s less intensive on the CPU meaning you can get a better stream. 2nd I’d compare your PC specs to this chart I made so you can find the best settings for you: www.scrapyardfilms.com/streaming then follow the other steps in this video. If you’re experiencing dropped frames, this video can help: ruclips.net/video/cyASbCsaLfc/видео.html If you’re experiencing CPU spikes or game lag, this video can help: ruclips.net/video/ure182CVgE4/видео.html

Great video! So I have an i7 9700k & a GTX 1060, what would be better to stream with for a game like Warzone? I’m currently using my processor with all of my in game graphics settings on low or off. My stream gets choppy so I’m wondering what I should do to fix it. I’d appreciate any help. Thank you!

Thank you! I stream on my Dell Latitude e5470, it's a laptop with an i7-6600, and the GPUs are the Intel 520 and a secondary AMD R7 360. I have tried tweaking things, but I still get stuttering when I check back on the videos, any ideas? I do have affiliate so I'm thinking maybe my internet connection might be bad? I put my canvas down to 720 and tweaked some other things as you said here on the video. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! I'll see how I fare and let you know. Thank you in advance!
Im having an issue with every game i try so any help is appreciated. im streaming to twitch from obs. i have an i5 6500 and a gtx 1060 oc edition. in game video settings are pretty much all low. obs is set to 720p 60fps 6000bitrate. hardware encoding with the gpu. in game fps shows im getting 170fps the stream is gorgeous with a solid 60fps never dropping. the issue im having is even though my screen shows im getting 170 fps the gameplay feels choppy and almost like im barley getting 30fps. any help???
A couple of things I'd change. You have a decent PC and so you shouldn't be experiencing problems at all. One question through. Are you a twitch affiliate? IF NOT, do these settings below. 1. To start it off, you should be gaming in 1080p in whatever video game you're playing. 2. You should reduce your frame rate to 60fps in the game and TURN ON v-sync in the game settings. 3. In OBS, in the VIDEO tab, make sure your Base Canvas Resolution is 1920x1080. Then make sure your Output Scaled Resolution is 1280x720. And finally, make sure your common FPS value is set to 30fps 4. In the OUTPUT tab, use x264 for the encoder 5. CHECK 'Rescale Output' and set it to 1280x720 6. For RATE CONTROL, use ABR 7. Change your bitrate to 2500 8. UNCHECK 'Use Custom Buffer Size' 9. For CPU USAGE PRESET, choose 'FAST' 10. For PROFILE, choose 'High' These would be some really good settings for you if you ARE NOT AFFILIATED with twitch.
what do u think about this would it work with ur setting to stream and make youtube vids with ur setting or i should change a little bit more high or low?! I3-6100 CPU 3.10GHz 5GB ram GT 740 1366X768 60Hz mon
Hey man I have a Radeon r5 m330 and a i7 5500U and I really need some obs settings. I've been trying alot of settings for a while but haven't found anything. I know it's really low end but I hope you can help. Thank you so much!
Yeah your best bet is the exact settings I show in the video. Using x264 encoder and your encoding speed at very fast. If you match the settings I show in the video, you should be able to stream fine. But if not, then your stuff may just be too old
I recommend looking at the description and pinned comment for the best updated settings video. I'd probably try out the lower settings first then work your way up until your stream stops looking good.
That's going to be very difficult to stream fluently. 1. You definitely want to play your game in 720p and turn ALL settings to the lowest possible. 2. In OBS, turn base canvas settings to 720p. Same with rescale output. 3. Uncheck rescale output in the streaming tab. 4. Bit rate at 1500-2000 5. Encoding speed ultrafast If those settings still are too much for your PC, you may not be able to stream with it and should probably look into getting a new laptop/desktop. Usually pawn shops have pretty good deals on laptops. a nice 5th gen i7 with at least 8GB of RAM. Either that or save up and build a nice PC.
@IqxandGamer Hope you can upgrade soon so you can become a famous streamer faster! @TECH TRENDS PUBG is a resource hog. You'd be lucky to stream that fluently with a good PC. No matter what, you'll have to drop the graphics in the game to very low for sure.
@@ScrapyardFilms thanks man,i dont think i can get a new upgrade for my pc easily because im broke. soo yeah man thanks for answering my question you are the kindest person ive ever meet in comments
Honestly your video has been most helpful i found in a sea of bad ones. I have a question if my game pc is using elgato and my game pc natice is 1920x1080 how should i set up my stream PC to output in 720p? Do I use base canvas 1920x1080 (Thats what elgato sends to stream pc) and then downscale? Or should i set my actual game pc resolution to 1280x1020 also?
Thanks for the kind words! I personally game in 1080p then downscale to 720p. So base canvas 1080p then rescale output to 720p. If you have a very low end pc, then gaming in 720 to start off could help performance.e
@@ScrapyardFilms One other question, I am not sure what's going on in terms of Encoding on my stream PC a low-end laptop that is JUST encoding. It has 16Gigs ram and an I7-4700 MQ 2.4 GHz 8 CPUs. I use Elgato HD60S. I have a pretty good Fiber Connection 500 MB Down and 300 Up, no other activity on Network, all wired. My CPU usage does not hit 60% according to OBS. But for some reason, all I get is Skipped Frames due to Encoding Lag like a huge percent. Any thoughts? I mean I know its an old laptop but I would think id at least be able to send this in 720p. Any thoughts?
It should be able to transmit 720p for sure. I'd recommend speeding up your encoder to Very Fasr or Ultra Fast and see if that makes a difference. Typically, you don't want your CPU usage to go above 50%. Also when you start streaming, right-click on your video preview on OBS and disable it, that will free up resources. Also be sure to close every other program you don't NEED open.
It mat be hard for you to get a fluent stream. Best idea is to follow these steps. 1. Download the latest update to Streamlabs: streamlabs.com/slobs/d/9015276 2. Go to www.scrapyardfilms.com and go to the streaming tab and you'll find the chart I made. 3. Match your PC settings with the ones on the chart as close as possible and you'll be good to go.
hi, is gtx 1650 super good enough to stream ? beside ryzen 5 3600 what is the best steaming setting for it ? and what if i use two gpu the older gpu like GT 710 OR GT 730 for steaming and gpu GT 1030 or GTX 1650 for gaming
It may be difficult for you to get a fluent stream but I'd follow the video then check out this chart I made and hopefully that'll help! bit.ly/best_settings
For Encoder option on my Mid 2012 MacBook Pro I have two options. One is labeled Apple VT H264 Hardware Encoder and the second is Apple VT H264 Software Encoder? Which one do i choose? Thanks
I would probably go with the software encoder since 2012 is really old hardware. Also I made a new updated OBS video in the description that is newer and better than this one.
Great video but can I also check as I am looking to stream from my Xbox One Console, via a capture card and use my laptop for OBS Studio and to then stream to either RUclips or Facebook - I am looking to put on a charity live streamed FIFA tournament with some pro and ex pro players involved. So far when I have done test streams my streams have been unwatchable as they are slow and really jerky, so wondered if applying these settings will help me? My laptop is running Intel Celeron 847 1.1GHz, 6GB DDR3 & Onboard Intel HD Graphics - It was originally bought as a work laptop so didnt really need to be to powerful at the time.
First I recommend trying out StreamElements here: p.strms.net/scrapd It's just like OBS but has awesome streaming features like Streamlabs. Then follow the settings in this video and then you can also match your settings on my streaming chart here: www.scrapyardfilms.com/streaming . That should guide you in the best direction.

hey man i have a GTX 1070 8gb Turbo i5 6600 16gb DDR4 was wondering if i should stream with my gpu if so what settings would you recommend?, im not affiliated currently :)
Stream with the CPU at first with these settings and test it out. Make sure your bit rate is around 2000 and your encoding speed is at superfast or ultrafast. If that still is choppy, you can try streaming using the GPU. I'll be uploading a video on GPU rendering soon.

Which graphics card do you have i mean which gtx? i have gtx 750 1gb and it's a pretty low end gpu and i want to stream games, just wanted to know if i should use x264 or the other option!!!
Everyone's rig performs differently depending on what hardware is inside, how many programs are installed and running, and how good your internet is. That's why I made this handy chart on my site: www.scrapyardfilms.com Match your specs as close as you can with the chart and you should be good to go!
So I think I have a decent pc to stream with I also allready stream a lot Specs: Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4590 CPU @3.30GHz 3.30GHz RAM: 8.00 GB ddr3 Grafische kaart: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 The question that I have is what I should upgrade about my pc because Im about to get a gtx 1070ti 8gb because I use my ghrapics card to stream with and I stream fortnite (ive heard from a lot of people that this game is all about ghrapics cards) so because of that reason I was like I should just buy a really good ghrapics card instead of upgrading all of the other parts of my pc because this card is way less expensive then upgrading all of the other parts of my pc but I am still not sure if this is the right decision to make. How do you think about it?
Honestly your probaby in need of an entire computer upgrade. The new standard in RAM is DDR4 and your processor is 4+ years old. Your graphics card is a little on the old side but but horrible. If you do upgrade, get at least an i7 8th gen. 8-16GB of DDR4 RAM, and that graphics card is great. then you can follow this tutorial to stream the best: ruclips.net/video/8l6khYPNZlI/видео.html
I have a Ryzen 3 1200 Quad Core 8GB Ram Raedon 570 Suggestions on if i should follow these setting for OBS? Or should I use something else? I can record my gameplay fine, just have troubles streaming. ANY HELP IS SO VER MYCH APPRECIATED!! I am just trying to follow my dreams, which is why Im up early grinding it right now :P
I suggest that you watch this video ruclips.net/video/n6qAoDquTgo/видео.html to find out which you game is using more of, CPU or GPU, if it is using your CPU more, then set the encoder to the AMD option as that is your graphics card (not sure what that would be by name, it should be an option other than x264) On the otherhand, if the game is using your GPU (graphics card) more than you want to encode using your CPU (x264)
Gonna be difficult to get a good stream and game with those specs. Honestly I'd just follow the steps in the video. Put the encoding speed at Ultrafast. Bit rate at 2000. Frame rate at 25. Maybe you'd be able to get a decent stream out of it.
GTX 1030 2GB Core i3-4130 3.4GHz 8 GB RAM League of Legends runs smooth on max settings while streaming on 100 - 120 fps. But, in stream view, it lags. How can I fix that?
You may have trouble getting a fluent stream with those specs. First thing you want to do is download the latest update to Streamlabs here: streamlabs.com/slobs/d/9015276 It's designed for gamers who stream. Once it's updated, follow the video's instructions. Once done, compare your PC specs to this chart I made here: bit.ly/best_settings and make the adjustments accordingly.
I have a face cam but I haven’t been able to use it whilst streaming. I have a pretty bad CPU but a GTX 1060 6gb. Is it because of my CPU that I can’t run games with face cam on or am I just doing something wrong? Great video by the way.
Thanks. And yeah it's probably your CPU that's holding you back. The more features you throw in OBS the more CPU it needs. Not to mention your game will start lagging/freezing randomly if your pc's CPU usage reaches 100%. That's a good graphics card though so you might use NVENCH to encode instead and see how that goes. just use a Twitch preset and the performance option and see how that goes.
I5 6600k with GTX 1060 6gb. I'm having trouble in game on Fortnite and other games because it slows my game fps and graphics. My CPU keeps reaching 100% even at 2500 bitrate. Thanks
I'd say try increasing your encoding speed to ultrafast. Also rescale your game to 720p too. Follow the video then check out this chart I made and hopefully that'll help! bit.ly/best_settings
An i5 7th gen isn't necessarily low end but that graphics card is a bit outdated. I'd say these settings are pretty much what you want. But inside your game, make sure your graphics are set to around medium and slowly move them up from there utensil you start experiencing lag or choppiness.
On fortnite, i have mostly low settings and around 100-150 fps on a constant base. With the settings when i try to stream / using my cpu / i hardly get around 50. Should i try my gpu n see if that is the problem?
Most of the time when you're streaming, it's a good idea to cap your frame rate in the game to 60. That way your GPU is not struggling to give you 50-100 extra frames per second which would free up resources on your GPU. If you can, in Fortnite, set your frame rate to 60 and enable vertical sync. Your game play will still look as smooth as butter and hopefully your game will keep your frames there while streaming.
Yo scrapyard. my friend gave me his pc and i was wondering if i gave the specs. you can see if my pc can stream properly Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 Ram : 32gb *i was told by him to upgrade the Graphics card but i do not know which one D: * im new to all of this pc shit. was asking if you could help out :D.
That rig should stream just fine using these settings. For newer games, you may have to drop the quality down to medium or low but other than that it should be good. If you want to upgrade your graphics card, I'd go for the good budget/performance of a GTX 1070.
You may have trouble getting a decent stream with those specs. First thing you want to do is download the latest update to Streamlabs here: streamlabs.com/slobs/d/9015276 It's designed for gamers who stream Once it's updated, follow the video's instructions. @@ScrapyardFilms Amazing response to my meme comment you just earned 2 new subscribers because i will subscribe on this account and my main account mystic
Sorry for the late response. You may experience lag or CPU maxing out with this hardware. Your best bet is trying these settings and making sure your encoding speed is close to ultra fast. Also open up task manager and make sure your CPU usage isnt at 100% while gaming and streaming.
My computer (a Dell Inpsiron 7000 with a GeForce MX250) has some slightly different graphics card settings and is using something called QuickSync H.264. Could you possibly do a video on how to set that up for weaker internet?
Affiliate people have options on there stream to watch in 480p 360p and likewise but non-affiliate people don't have that option so if you are streaming 1080p60fps and then that person watching doesn't have good internet then you stream will buffer which is not good.
THIS IS MY PC SPECS I WANNA RECORD FOR LEAGUE OF LEGENDS AND STREAM Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1 CPU AMD A8-5600K 111 °C Trinity 32nm Technology RAM 8.00GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 798MHz (11-11-11-28) Motherboard MSI A55M-E33 (MS-7721) (P0) 66 °C Graphics HP L1710 (1280x1024@60Hz) 1024MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 5500 Series (ATI AIB) 82 °C Storage 465GB Western Digital WDC WD50 00AAKX-08U6AA0 SATA Disk Device (SATA ) 49 °C Optical Drives No optical disk drives detected Audio Realtek High Definition Audio
Seems your PC may be a little on the old side. Your most likely going to have a hard time streaming and an even HARDER time doing both at the same time. Your best bet is doing 1 of those at a time. and if you're lucky, your stream won't lag bad.
Have you got a recommendation for a build like mine? (Good Quality on Twitch + Minimal lag while playing) CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 1700 @ 3.8 GHz (Cooled by: Cooler Master MasterLiquid Lite 120) GPU - NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB MOBO - Gigabyte GA-AB350-Gaming RAM - 16GB DDR4 @ 2400 MHz
Great specs. Very similar to my own. You should be able to get a good stream. I'd follow the video's instructions. Once done, compare your PC specs to this chart I made here: bit.ly/best_settings and make the adjustments accordingly in the AMD section below. Also if you were streaming games, Streamlabs OBS is really good for that: streamlabs.com/slobs/d/9015276

It's probably better for you to use your graphics card to encode since your processor is very old. Follow the steps on this video: ruclips.net/video/fPEL0Z0nNGg/видео.html (I know it says for Mixer but that's okay) and then turn your graphics to low in game and give it a try.

Awesome detailed video! I have a acer nitro 5 8gb ram gtx 1650 what settings do you recommend for streaming from console
I recommend using NVENC. I have a recent video on my channel for those best settings specifically.
I have a:
AMD Ryzen 5 1400
AMD RX 580 4gb
8gb Ram at 2666
would these settings benefit me?
You may have some trouble getting a fluent stream. 1st thing I’d do is try out StreamElements: p.strms.net/scrapd . It’s less intensive on the CPU meaning you can get a better stream. 2nd I’d compare your PC specs to this chart I made so you can find the best settings for you: www.scrapyardfilms.com/streaming then follow the other steps in this video.
If you’re experiencing dropped frames, this video can help: ruclips.net/video/cyASbCsaLfc/видео.html

And finally, make sure your common FPS value is set to 30fps
4. In the OUTPUT tab, use x264 for the encoder
5. CHECK 'Rescale Output' and set it to 1280x720
6. For RATE CONTROL, use ABR
7. Change your bitrate to 2500
8. UNCHECK 'Use Custom Buffer Size'
9. For CPU USAGE PRESET, choose 'FAST'
10. For PROFILE, choose 'High'
These would be some really good settings for you if you ARE NOT AFFILIATED with twitch.
what do u think about this would it work with ur setting to stream and make youtube vids with ur setting or i should change a little bit more high or low?!

Hey man I have a Radeon r5 m330 and a
i7 5500U and I really need some obs settings.
But if not, then your stuff may just be too old
Thank you so much!
Also would quicksync h264 be better or should I stick with x264?
For sure use x264. The other option, Quicksync, would try and use the graphics card and your card isn't the best already
Okay cool thank you so much! Literally one of the most informative RUclips channels out there.
I have GTX 1050
Intel Quad Q9650
8GB DDR2
Do you recommend I use the settings in the video or go better/worse?
I recommend looking at the description and pinned comment for the best updated settings video. I'd probably try out the lower settings first then work your way up until your stream stops looking good.
hey man i have intel(r) core(tm) i3-2120 CPU @ 3.30GHz 4GB RAM 64 operating system no graphic cards
what settings to use?
That's going to be very difficult to stream fluently.
1. You definitely want to play your game in 720p and turn ALL settings to the lowest possible.
2. In OBS, turn base canvas settings to 720p. Same with rescale output.
3. Uncheck rescale output in the streaming tab.
4. Bit rate at 1500-2000
5. Encoding speed ultrafast
If those settings still are too much for your PC, you may not be able to stream with it and should probably look into getting a new laptop/desktop. Usually pawn shops have pretty good deals on laptops. a nice 5th gen i7 with at least 8GB of RAM. Either that or save up and build a nice PC.

The question that I have is what I should upgrade about my pc because Im about to get a gtx 1070ti 8gb because I use my ghrapics card to stream with and I stream fortnite (ive heard from a lot of people that this game is all about ghrapics cards) so because of that reason I was like I should just buy a really good ghrapics card instead of upgrading all of the other parts of my pc because this card is way less expensive then upgrading all of the other parts of my pc but I am still not sure if this is the right decision to make.

League of Legends runs smooth on max settings while streaming on 100 - 120 fps. But, in stream view, it lags. How can I fix that?
You may have trouble getting a fluent stream with those specs.
First thing you want to do is download the latest update to Streamlabs here: streamlabs.com/slobs/d/9015276
It's designed for gamers who stream.
Once it's updated, follow the video's instructions. Once done, compare your PC specs to this chart I made here: bit.ly/best_settings and make the adjustments accordingly.
@@ScrapyardFilms I will try that. Thank you.

Thank you! It's a lot smoother now
Hey man, i have a i5-750 (yes ik lol), and a gtx 780. What do you think would be a good setting?
Unfortunately i have already tried that and have no luck whatsoever.
Yo scrapyard. my friend gave me his pc and i was wondering if i gave the specs. you can see if my pc can stream properly

That rig should stream just fine using these settings. For newer games, you may have to drop the quality down to medium or low but other than that it should be good. If you want to upgrade your graphics card, I'd go for the good budget/performance of a GTX 1070.

Thank you very very very very very much, It helped a lot I currently have a smooth livestream just now but no viewers XD
