Every interview I've seen with the three of them I wonder why the show did that vs showcasing Jonny and Simone as leads and letting Charitha do press with the woman who played her mother. Part of the reason she looks like a 3rd wheel is she spent less time filming with them than they did with one another. She did not have one solitary scene 1:1 with Jonny. Not one. Not sure why the show did that - must have been really awkward.

They seem to genuinely enjoy each other's company like friends do, but that doesn't mean they fancy each other as potential life partners, that's a completely different thing. So much goes into nailing onscreen chemistry, the dialogues, the storyline. the characters, direction, the intimacy scenes and the actors' dedication to his or her character to that rapport between the actors is the icing on the cake, there are lots of onscreen couples who aren't that close off camera who nail it onscreen.
It is very normal to be excluded, in fact, she should not sit next to them and not interfere with them on posters. She's not the main character, she's a side character. They officially made her the leading role.
