@DaFNAFartist 1. Don't act like you've never made a mistake spelling. 2. Losing "a few" brain cells isn't many, but when you have as many as yourself, I could see that being a lot.
Some notes on BEC / Separate battery use in large builds: -You never want two BECs connected to the same receiver, without some kind of redundancy system regulating them. That's why Andres originally only used the one from the rear ESC. -Using a separate battery is VERY common on large builds, both DIY style as well as ARF balsa 3d birds. I recommend using 2s LiFe packs, they're lithium (and thus better than standard nicd/nimh) but the voltage is slightly lower than a standard 2s LiPo. at 6.6v operating voltage, you don't run the risk of burning out servos that the ~7v 2s LiPo has. -Using a single 2s LiFe is enough for *most* large builds. That is, standard size servos, or a lot of smaller ones, and you should be fine on servo power. HOWEVER, if you really go nuts on build size, you may want to go ever further. -Here's the rub: If your servos are REALLY strong and power hungry, they can sometimes pull enough amps to temporarily drop the 2s LiFe voltage to unsafe levels. Not unsafe for the servos, mind you, they'll keep working, just with less torque until the voltage returns. No, the issue comes with your receiver: If the voltage gets too low, the receiver might shut off for a brief second, and that time period and the time that follows of trying to re-acquire the transmitter signal can be dangerous. -In THAT case, you will want to isolate your receiver power from your servo power. This requires using either two LiFe batteries, or one LiFe (for servos) and one BEC (for receiver). On the servos, you cut all of the red wires before they go into the receiver. Solder those red wires together, and connect them to the red wire of the LiFe servo battery. The black wire of the LiFe servo battery can go to any black wire connected to the receiver. Then, the receiver LiFe battery (or BEC) just plugs into the receiver on an open port. As you can see, this gets complicated quickly. A large build might have as many as 3, 4, or 5 separate batteries, and all of them need to be charged and connected before flight. If you're not confident, it doesn't hurt to use a checklist. Even if it's not written, a mental checklist or routine can save your butt, just like full-scale aviation. Big builds aren't as simple as an average FT kit, but the payoff in successfully flying them is big as well.
Basically 2 batteries, for servos and the receiver, and connect the signal, and ground of the servos and receivers together, and connect the vcc's to the separate batteries
Basically building and configuration like in the old days. Separate battery for your flight equipment since you had a gas tank that supplied energy for the power plant rather than sharing power from the propulsion energy supply
And so the Beast flew. "The kraken" Some called it. The mortals devised a new weapon to combat this beast, but even that...was not enough. Many brave souls fought this battle, and many died. Until one brave soul, sacrificed himself. To the beast he stuck, sapping its energy until, finally. It was forced to land, and limp it's way back home. Unkilled, but injured.
But now we are prepared! We have taken into knowledge the power of this great beast, so we shall fly again into the beautiful azure skies. Untouched by the kraken whom will return weak, for we shall soar with a new champion. A new warrior! That shall conquer the kraken, and shall slay it, returning unscathed from their perilous journey.

"Flight engineer onboard to control the 3 motors" Yes! When I flew Stan XL last year (0:25), and Stan III this year, I had a copilot, or I guess flight engineer would be the more accurate term. The model profile for Stan in my QX7 had 4 "control inputs" through the trainer cord, tied to channels 5, 6, 7 and 8 from my copilots DX8 transmitter. These inputs were then used in the special functions menu as channel overrides, each overriding one of the throttle channels (each motor has it's own channel) to -100 and thus "killing" that motor. If a prop or motor (let's say, #3) got damaged in combat, I could yell, "Kill motor 3!", copilot Jon would flip a switch, and that motor was no longer active. It's also useful for troubleshooting power system issues on the ground, I can run one motor at a time without having to undo wiring.
Dude that drone piloting to get that air coverage is freaking amazing!!!! I flew drones in highschool for film class and could never do something like that. I love how he was able to fly in front while the other plane was flying. Soooooo impressive.
