Clever design with the beer can and aluminum foil. I noted steam loss at the outlet of the condenser tubes in the other designs. Suggest two items... Ice bath for the collection jar may capture exiting steam and condense water on the the sides. I'm a chemist... fashion a cooling jacket for the condenser tube... tube inside a tube. Counterflow tap water in the outer jacket to aggressively cool the condensed water/assist with steam loss at the exit. I recall, in one of your other videos, you used a "finned" oil cooler for air cooling. Same concept. Steam into the oil cooler >> The oil cooler placed into an "once thru" water bath or ice bath. Steam loss will be significantly reduced. I've been following your projects for years. Great channel.

I'll go with the 7, 8, 9 as that's what I really need when the grid goes down. My main concern was how to obtain 'the precious water' when it would be difficult to find some good drinking water in the coming troublesome times. Thank you so much and appreciate you sharing your super ideas. I'm going to try the last one first👍😊Blessings!!

Some people just want distilled water for other than survival reasons. In such cases the best source is a dehumidifier. It makes gallons a day. If you have one, be aware that what you throw away from it is distilled water.

It works cause the distillation removes the minerals from the water and it comes out purified. The minerals are left behind.

    Now what costs more?
The electricity needed to steam a gallons worth of distilled water?
Or a gallon of distilled water from the grocery store for 99¢?

    • @desertsun02

Want to see solar powered from solar panels to using water heater. Might need 1200w for that but would essentially be free when the sun is out. My water distiller uses up to 800w. Wondering if the counter top istiler element could be converted to solar but it run of Ac o I not sure. Maybe use a high power buck converter to control voltage and heat what are your thoughts? I can distill about a gallon in 4 hours.
