I've definitely been sniffing around a rain gutter system. The TDS meter gave me a reading of in the 20s off my gutter. And that's before cleaning out the leaves. Looks promising!!

got a water distiller from h20 labs for my sarracenia today and it took 5 hours to make 1 gallon of distilled water I also had to make two batches cus I need an activated carbon pad cus distilling it doesn't necessarily remove things like chloreen and floride from the water but activated carbon does so after all that was done I ran it and made a gallon in 5 hours and its a 750 watt distiller also the h20 labs manual says that activated carbon pad is good for 30 gallons before it needs to be replaced
I also have a distiller, I was just exploring alternative methods. I usually just start mine before bed and let it run overnight. I've actually turned to the zero water pitcher now as my go to. It's quicker and effective at pulling impurities out of the water. Just have to stay on top of the filters.

I also wont be putting the end results in plastic containers. I already use redmons electrolytes so i will add it to distilled water to take care of that. Now debating to buy a zero water or counter top distiller. Leaning more to the counter top distiller bez again no buying plastic filters. Thanks again for showing how long it takes to make 1 cup
I use zero water pitchers for 0 TDS water, they work really well! All my carnivorous plants are given water straight from the zero water pitcher. This was a fun method to try and experiment with, but it's obviously not very efficient or really worth the time.

Hey Ashly, it wasn't dumb, some etsy sellers have really beautiful plants and are reputable sellers. Both Drosera and pings like a little more humidity typically, but I couldn't say for sure without knowing exactly what types of plants you have. There are different kinds of Pings and Drosera that require very different care.
If using ice from the beginning it would be fine. I used to use this method for long term stews etc and I just filled the glass with water. Worked fine, topped off as evaporated.
Ya, honestly. I think this method might come in handy in a real pinch. Assuming all the places you normally buy it are out of stock. If you can purchase it, I 100% recommend saving the time and effort and going that route. Might be a handy skill to have someday though, never know!

More often that not, no. I also have filtered water in my kitchen but it reads at about 80 PPM which is a little too high, that will kill them over time. I recommend you get a TDS meter, if your filtered water measures below 50PPM, you are good to go! If not, you will need to find an alternate way to water your venus flytrap. My understanding is that demineralized water should be fine. However, I would test the PPM's before I committed to it. You can grab a TDS meter off Amazon for like 12 bucks. If it's below 50 PPM, it should be okay!
Hey David. I agree. At the end of the video I give a full breakdown of time it takes and how much it costs. But, I have to keep it under 50 ppm for my carnivorous plants. I really prefer 30 ish and under.

I wanted to make it a productive video. When it came down to it, the method works, but it's extremely inefficient.
The Damn TDS water level here in Baytown Texas in my house is 250. We have a zero water filter and container and yes it works very good.

I use zero water pitchers for 0 TDS water, they work really well! All my carnivorous plants are given water straight from the zero water pitcher. This was a fun method to try and experiment with, but it's obviously not very efficient or really worth the time.

Hey Ashly, it wasn't dumb, some etsy sellers have really beautiful plants and are reputable sellers. Both Drosera and pings like a little more humidity typically, but I couldn't say for sure without knowing exactly what types of plants you have. use a re useable ice pack then u wont get any contamination when it melts
That's a pretty good idea, I'd have to have a few on had though as they'd heat up quick!
I might be wrong here but there may be a possibility of cracking the glass lid by putting ice onto it when it’s hot, not sure though

Not worth it. A quick trip to the store for a $1 gallon is much more convenient.

I checked the contents of the bottle, it indicated that major elements are at 0 ppm.

Yes! Based on average power consumption by a burner, this cost about $8 to make a gallon of distilled water. Not cost effective at all.
